u need 2 get ur history lesson right...when the turkish forces moved 4 battle, the weather got bad & their heavy guns got bogged down...so they left them & went only with the light guns...the following months witnessed a long siege, as the light guns couldn't make any large breaches in the walls of the city, & the smaller breaches were defended ferociously. as winter approached, the turkish decided to return back; with the intention of returning later, but since Suleiman died, that didn't happen

the ottoman empire formed in 1299 and they endlessly fought for 400 years.they were not like the sissy habsburgs or other european kingdoms who gained lands through marriage or for being cousins.they actually fought and ganied all the lands they ruled by battles.the empire took it's very first defeat in 1683 in a land which was 1273km away from their imperial capital and they fought with a holly league consisted of nearly all european kingdoms.show some respect the ottomans were great warriors.

The Ottomans had suffered defeats in the previous century at both Malta and Lepanto -- most historians view the Siege of Vienna as the final defeat that sealed the slow decline, rather than a "first defeat". Of course the Ottoman empire was great, but like most Western/Central Asian powers it did not modernise at a sufficiently rapid rate and thus by the 18th century was no longer a major world power.

@opampman606 Yes Ottomans lost in Malta and Lepanto,but the long term effects of those loses were minor.Ottomans simply could not invade Malta and they replaced the fleet lost in Lepanto in six months.Vienna had major effects like losing land for the very first time.After the defeat of Vienna for the very first time Ottomans lost a very large territoriy.They lost small castles before but they never lost that much land .And secondly the invasion of Central Europe totally stopped after the Vienna.

Ottoman Turks defeated Austra,Russia and Iran and forced them to sign treaty that was treaty of Belgrade.With this treaty Ottoman Empire got all the lost lands that had been lost in 1699 with the treaty of Karlowitz. OttomanSultan was Sultan I. Mahmud. His regime was one of the golden period of Ottoman History. Ottoman decline started after 1800's.

@aporia82 All the historians agree that sieging of Vienna was crutial military mistake as Ottoman Army had no sieging equipment.Aim of Ottoman Army was not sieging,But Mustapha Pasha pushed army to siege the city. Aim was to establishing Hungarian's independence against Austria. Therefore necessary equipments of sieging were not taken.Recent analisis on Ottoman Archivals show this fact. By hearing of sieging the city, Sultan became very angry and said '' what a mistake that pasha made''

Like all the Empires through history that was time for Ottomans to lost his power. Also power began to go to British Empire and America. Croatia was part of Bosnia at that time that Ottomans retook Bosnia, Some parts of Wallachia and some parts of Hungary that Ottomans lost these with treaty of Karlowitz and Passarowitz. Also with this treaty Serbian Kingdoms overruled and again became part of Ottomans.There was no link and problems with Morea.Also Russians gave all the lands he had taken to the Ottomans.There wes no radical changes in lands until 1800's
