  • well ive got the same last name.. but not the same talent... lol..

  • He made up many characters and Stan Lee took the credit or them

  • can you bet that a female journalist these days would take offense of being drawn as a damsel in distress? wich is sad. :(

    anyway great clip!

  • OMG - look at her hair (lol)

  • Wow,an amazing man,I had the good forture of meeting the ''king'' just before his pasting'',long live the king''

  • Wow! Thanks for posting. I remember seeing this way back when it aired. It was the first time I saw an interview on tv with Kirby... the greatest comic book artist ever!

  • I think he gave a decent interview. I've read that, when compared to Stan, Jack gave "bad" interviews...but I don't see that here. He seems well spoken and very charming. Long live the king...

  • JACK KING KIRBY: The Picasso of our Graphic comic age. His work will Never die. P.S. It's such a relief to see a really gregarious , and happy looking guy. Instead of those Sad , mean and miserable looking wannabe Goth-Artist.

  • Really nice to see King Kirby drawing, however, i must point out the CREEPY laughter form the interviewer at 2:08 onwards.

  • @C4RL0Z479 yeah that laugh scared me 0_0

  • thats his voice?

  • Somewhat condescending treatment of Kirby here, with the cheesy sound effects. I think Kirby actually was trying to found a new religion, with himself as puppet master.

  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of Entertainment Tonight's Report On Jack Kirby On October 28, 1982.

  • The more I hear about Jack and Steve Ditko the slimier Stan Lee gets

  • @teakey Stan Lee came up with characters and Jack drew them, what slimy about that.?

  • I love King Kirby and comic books but hate the "Biff bam pow" representation we always get in the media. It's like we'll never lose the stigma of being a juvenile medium and we have no one to blame but ourselves.

  • @Dyler you have to realize this was from the 80's and about comics from the late 70's.

back then, that's what comics were, a juvenille medium.

  • @Jalanko13 : No, that's not what they were, that's what the condescending mainstream media presented them as...

  • "We can be the people we lionize."

  • i hate how the reporter talks sort of negatively about comic book fans

  • @jackedsamurai772 yeah, the mainstream media are such assholes when it comes to the comic book community...

  • >Jack Kirby and Joe Strummer F O R E V E R

  • >THANK YOU for POSTING THIS....my FAVORITE BAND and my FAVORITE ARTIST mentioned TOGETHER is almost UNIMAGINABLE...

    Cheers!

  • it's a shame stan took all the credits

  • DOMINUS!!!

  • happy birthday jack

  • YES YES YES!!!!!

  • he sounds like Al pacino! Jack is an amazing artist

  • that bitch reporter has a fake laugh

  • Entertainment tonight in the 80's was pretty sickening. The female and male reporters would fake laugh through everything. It was such a cheesy show.

  • It's too bad none of today's comic-book writers can imbue their characters and stories with that "transcendent feeling" Kirby always had in his. Of course, since all of today's writers are just a bunch of inbred fanboy hacks, I guess that's really no surprise.

  • And the silver surfer and the x-men and the inhumans and the black panther and doctor dooom and and and

  • Kirby's ledgend Will Live On Forever

  • You may not believe me, but when I was a boy in Southern California my sister was friends with Mr. Kirby's grand-daughter. I was at his house numerous times, swimming in his pool and spending the day there. I wish I still had the comics and posters he gave me. I can tell you, honestly, he was a sweet, kind, wonderful man. Visits to Mr. Kirby's, or as my mother called him "Mr. Creator" are likely the fondest of my childhood.

  • I honestly do believe you, Jack Kirby touched me with his generosity and kind heart. Even though he dided before i was born. :(

  • @wasteland70 LIER I ENVY YOU

  • Video of the Master at his drawing table! Priceless!! *****

  • Kirby's such a badass! He is The King period.

  • Jack should have drawn her as a superheroine called Captain Catherine in a wonder woman pose, swinging a microphone around like a magic lasso.

She would wrap it around people to get the truth out of them during interviews.

  • Thanks for posting this! I had never heard an interview with Jack before.

  • 2:15 LOL, That's a scary face, rofl

  • Happy birthday, Jack.

  • According to Scott McCloud's blog he would've been 92 years old.

  • That was damn cool!

  • Definitely one the coolest guys EVER

  • Thank you Jack wherever you are.

  • Yeah, I'd like to think he's still sitting at his table, drawing, in the next dimension..........

    SERPO

  • "Oh Jack, you're endowing me nicely heh heh *snort*"

"It's my normal masculine instinct. "

    Awesome :3

  • un capo jack

    he is a real genious

  • Great video, thanks for posting. Jack really did believe people could be heroes. Good on him, I say :)
