  • OMGAWSH i clean theaters...family business, (kinda lol)

from a cleaners point of view, as well as movie viewer:

hate when people buy a large soda and then leave it in a cupholder or on the ground to spill everywhere, hate when people finish something and then shove the wrappers behind the seat in front of them, hate when someone uses the opening between seats as a footrest in yo face's bizz, hate when u glare at them & make eye contact and they ignore u, hate when i find 6 empty beers & vomit

  • We have that here in Fresno Ca. The one I hate the most is when they bring their young kids to non- kid movies and then let them do whatever during the movie.

  • its just around you...

  • I can't speak for everywhere, but these annoying movie habits are definitely in Virginia and Washington DC.

  • man are u hot

  • love it.

  • Or the people who are basically doing the deed in front of you during the movie! You left them out!

  • What about the intolerant girl who can't watch the movie because she's too busy choosing to be distracted by everyone else? Maybe just relax and quit worrying about other people so much. There's enough of that in this state already.

  • @mootbutter You sound like one of the annoyers. Your attitude is typical of such self-centered people who cause problems for others, out of your selfish indifference.

  • @tuberpie68 I actually agree with everything in this video. Yes, poor etiquette is everywhere and it's very annoying. But when we choose to become so deeply annoyed by people around us, we are choosing selfishness just the same. There's so much intolerance in the world today toward all groups of people. I would rather hear a message that promotes something good - not an unfair judgement toward a group of people (Utahns) for something that is found everywhere.

  • @mootbutter "Choose to become...annoyed"! Wow! What rationalizing! People go to the movies to watch a film, not to be annoyed. You are a smoker, too leak to overcome your habit, aren't you? Only smokers can twist reality around in their heads that much. And Deena ASKS US (not tells us) if these things just happen in Utah.

  • @tuberpie68 Not a smoker. I just try to take accountability for myself. Not realizing you have a choice in the way you react to things is at the heart of selfish behavior. And check the title: "Utahns have bad manners!" Doesn't sound like asking to me. Sounds like a generalization directed at a group of people. Anyone part of a minority group should understand that is just ignorant. Reply if you want to, I'm over this. I was just adding a counter perspective before I got attacked by a hater.

  • @mootbutter She ASKS IN THE VID @ 0:11-0:13.

  • @tuberpie68 Tuberpie WINS! Good job tuberpie.

  • @mootbutter You're no different, stop trying to play like you are. So it annoys YOU if someone is annoyed? How about this, people pay money to be entertained. Not bothered. Isn't it pure respect to not be a douche in the theatre? Nobody is generalizing UT, she ASKS if it's JUST UT. Since she is in UT I'd say she can say what she wants. Get out of here now, we don't want your bs.

  • @ned2050 And the winner is...NED! Good job Ned. You win.

  • yah thats stuped peapel in utah but im was born in utah and im still live in utah and im mormen but its just thos showoff who are rich and thimk ther butter then everyone who do that

  • Good Lady,

I used to be the GM of a 12 screen theater in Texas and trust me, it is everywhere. If it weren't for labor costs, I would have an usher in all twelve screens making an announcement before each showing to tell the audience if they participated in the aforementioned behaviors in your video, they would get tossed without a refund.

  • OMG it happens EVERYWHERE!!!

  • Lol when you mimicked the person who laughs at everything, your laugh sounded like Kendra Wilkinson's. :P

  • Deena at least persons that laugh at everything are happy persons , not so bad

  • Maybe it's because they're Mormon, it's in thier upbringing!

  • I don't know! .....I havn't been to the thearter in...over a year! :(

  • one thing i dont see mentioned here is people throwing stuff at you.. here in Ireland its more common than not for a group of teens (usually boys) to go and sit behind a group of girls and throw popcorn at them.. and if u complain you leave with gum instead of just popcorn in you hair :( movies suck unless you go with boys willing to fight your corner but who wants to fight to watch a movie??

  • Oh, trust me, it's everywhere(TX)

Last time I went to the movies, a group of women behind me were talking about the taste of semen. I couldn't believe it, and followed up by how different foods or diets make it taste different...GROSS! I don't want to hear that! I was watching "Inception" not a Ron Jeremy film. I had to do the "clear my throat thing" and the "shh'ing" and finally it worked. However that didn't stop the glaring cell phone screen down below me that same night. People are animals!

  • That's why I don't go to movie theaters. Theaters should be banned. Better yet, they should be burned. Preferably with the offenders still in them. Of course, someone will find a way to charge to watch a burning theater, and still be as apathetic as they are at their real job. Picking scabs.

  • Yeah these are some of the reasons I rarely go to movies any more. One of the biggest annoyances is when two couples or a small group sit together and have to socialize like they're in somebody's living room.

  • Being in Utah, I stick to brewvies and the cheap seats at Sugarhouse 10 where it's okay to deal with the public because the amount you paid to see a movie. Obvious this girl has never seen to a Tyler Perry movie in Chicago, them folks would really light up her life.

  • Having lived in Utah, as well as 8 other states and two other countries, I can confirm that Utah movie audiences are about 243 times ruder than anyplace else on earth.

    It's just Utah

  • oh and the phone ringing during the movie. seriously shut the fucking phone off and watch the movie. there are times i wanna leave during the movie and tell management that it's distracting and i can't enjoy the film. that's why it says before the movie "silence your cell phones"

  • oh it's here in cali too. the candy or popcorn don't bother me. what bothers me is people talking loudly where you can hear their whole convo, people making out (seriously you paid big bucks just to make out?) and people texting on their phones.

  • ugh candy wrappers i think the worst one is youre short so you sit in one of the front rows then some tall stupid ass sits in front of you YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE I SAT HERE FOR A REASON YOU DICK!

  • Movie manners here in New Zealand are really good most of the time!

  • What about the guy or girl who has already seen the movie and now is seeing it with a friend. "Watch this, watch, watch, watch!" "Oh, here comes a good part!" "This part coming up is so cool. Look, look..."

When I was a kid, I had a paper route, and occasionally the carriers would get to see a movie for free. Once, they actually stopped the movie because nobody was watching it...and the place was littered with rubber bands.

  • Comment removed

  • @juderevolver Newspaper carriers have a lot of rubber bands. Many of them were flying around the theater during the movie. Apparently, that was more entertaining than the movie (which, if I recall correctly, was Murder by Death, which dates back to 1976, I believe).

  • @JamesMorlan Ahh...okay, I guess it was more obvious than I thought. Sounds like fun, rubber band guns and all

  • at the eclipse preimire these three drunk chicks sat by me and was sooo loud and talked through the whole movie. i was gonna hit one of them i swear!

  • Haha! LOVE the ending! And no, this does not only happen in Utah. What frustrates me the most about it all is that we actually arrive EARLY to avoid everything you've just mentioned and to get what, at that particular moment, are the BEST seats in the house...and then the stragglers come on in during the previews, with their noisy candy bags, ringing phones, crying/seat kicking children and RUIN EVERYTHING!!! It makes me so madddddddddd. Like this...@*(#&(&@#*(*@(!!

  • ugh I live in SLC too! and I HATE those ppl!! the one I get most is the "seat bump" ugh!!! and the cell phone! really?! why do ppl do that!!!

I totally agree with you! :)

  • any Open Mouth Chewing unacceptable, but Copenhagen ok

  • ooohhh i get worse ppl i get people who scream at the screen or throw popcorn.....i hate those people lol

  • You live with a bunch of animals. From now on NetFlix. Go at noon.

  • You should travel around the USA and see various additional and ethnic WEIRDNESS!!!

  • I may be the girl who asks questions or talks a lot during the movie, but I try and do it as quietly as possible... But loud enough to annoy my friends but not others. I feel bad when I open a candy wrapper loudly.

  • I couldn't tell you. I only go to see a movie after all the hoopla is over. By then there are only a handful of people in the theatre. They've never bothered me. Once there were only three of us in the theatre and the other 2 left, so I was alone in the theatre for the remainder of the movie. I never bothered myself lol

    EdElisea 09/09/10

  • omg it happens to me too, i hate those people, i go to a movie to sit there in the dark to watch the movie, not listen to everyone else.

  • It's America. I remember having this one chick, I swear she was like 16, but she had a baby. Who wanted popcorn. And couldn't get it. And was not happy. BUt she wouldn't take him away. >.<

  • Hello,Denna.

Seriously, these annoyances are one reason Netflix and hom delivered content will boom over the next few years.

    And

As a stahe actress, how about a noisy live audience??

    Grounds for murder, I think.

  • Being over 6ft tall made for seats that are made for people under that height make it hard to get comfortable. So to all the people who I might have kicked their seats let me make a heartfelt apology. With only one exception to the guy who started chatting on his cell phone. That was no accident.

  • it's everywhere not just utah..can't blame anybody for trying to touch your boobs

  • Nope. It's everywhere.

  • god no, it's definitely tennessee too.

we have those people, but they're also rednecks.

  • Everywhere! It's like that in Ga too! ....... I really think places like movies, resturants etc. could make a ton of extra cash if they had a lil button on their registers labeled "stupid" and if a customer appears as if they suffer from "stupid obnoxious" disorder then they could press said button and it will charge an extra dollar or two. Just consider it a "stupid" tax.

  • it everywhere.

  • It's just you.

  • everywhere CT has 'em 2 (me included)

  • I expected Utahns to be civilized. This is rocking my world.

    I don't get this usually.

  • 1:11 - 1:18 XD

  • They are here in the Phoenix area too! I'd like to add: children in inappropriate movies, playing 'quietly', asking questions and kicking chairs. And whining babies. ACK!

  • Nope, it's here too!!!

  • It's everywhere. Stupid is widespread.

  • I live in Boston and I see all of the stuff you mentioned (plus some) every time I decide to catch a movie. Definitely not just a Utah thing.

  • the worst is movie premiers for big movies like harry potter... and when an actor comes on screen the little girls clap and cheer OUT LOUD.. like the people on screen can hear them haha.. maybe thats just in CT? but i know for sure all that you said happens EVERYWHERE.. and its so effing annoying

  • That is specifically why I sit just close enough to the screen so that is the ONLY thing in my vision, usually around halfway back. Which is also why I hate going with people who INSIST on sitting in the very back of the theatre. I don't want to watch all the people in front of me being dumb, I want to watch my movie!

  • Hmmm...I think this issue is world wide. At least in my experience.

  • You forgot the obvious: THE CELL PHONE!!!! In my town there is a big multiplex theater & I went there several years ago to see "Alien vs. Predator" {meh!}. Well, about halfway through the movie the theater doors began to open and other people (who should have left after their movie finished!) began to come in & stand by the doorways to watch AVP. There were no ushers or guards outside to check for ticket stubs. The doors kept opening! It's called "movie hopping". VERY ANNOYING!!!

  • oh crap i spilled my popcorn on the keyboard

  • Must be just Utah ... everyone is so nice and kind and considerate here ... People around here are even nice when they drive ... no tailgating or talking on cell phones ... or speeding by you ... or going slow in the passing lane ... or cutting you off ... or flipping the bird ... and they always use their blinkers ... and yield to let you in their lane when you need it ... it's amazing. The only way I know about these things is because I've heard about them from friends I have in Utah.

  • It's not just Utah,it's the WORLD

  • It's everywhere... I hate the people that constently get up in the middle of the movie, cross in front of you to go to the bathroom or something, come back and cross in front of you again! I had one person do that like 5 times, and he tripped on my foot and sat on me at one point spilling my drink on my lap... worst thing is he didn't even notice or say sorry!

  • Utah-n's? Utah-nians? Utah-rus? Utah-pians?

    .

Deena can't be a big fat hypocrite - she's skinny!

  • It's everywhere. I just went to a live performance that I wanted to video, so I purposely sat in the very last row by the aisle to get a full shot of the stage. Two women with a circus of toddlers picked the seats right in front of me out of all the empty seats in the place -- now my video has a background of "stop it, sit down, no, I told you no, stop that, come here, sit still, no!" mixed with squeals, grunts and cries of "mommy" over and over. Please -- get a sitter!!

  • Definitely not just Utah. I can pretty much run down that whole checklist of annoying people no matter where I go to the movies here in NY.

  • I'm the guy who goes 'mmm' but it's only in a movie with good acting where I'm dragged into the story. :L

  • It's not just Utah

  • nope, that happens everywhere. Although I have been in the habit of laughing ALOT!

I got to have toy story 3 narrated to me. And a friend of mine is definitely one who has to ask a question about every scene.

  • Yeah... I know what you mean. Another thing is to watch movies prefered by women or made for children... In that movies there's a lot of giggling and "Mommy, look at that!"-crap! So my choice not to have to go through either of it: I'm watching movies - if possible - in their native language. I'm german and love movies in english and there are mostly no more than 100 people in a 300-500 seats room. Thank you foreign language!!! (Twilight is so much better in Original lines than translated...)

  • When I went to the cinema a couple of weeks ago, there were some girls, who thought they could influence the movie's story by insulting the actors. And guess what... it was 'Eclipse' xD

  • that is very annoying indeed. i even drive from south salt lake to sandy risking death by bad Utah drivers because the movie theater that is close to my house is gross and sticky and once i am there people are annoying! rawr! stupid Utah folk.

  • I was at the cinema a few weeks back, watching a movie I'd been waiting for MONTHS to see. Literally. Right behind me were a bunch of people around my age (teenagers) who were hurling popcorn at each other, screaming at the screen, shouting out insults at the characters, eating noisily, kicking the chairs and myself in the back of the head and I think they must have had some sort of Sushi plastic take-away or something because the whole area stank of raw fish. Not very pleasant at all :'D

  • hee hee Its everywhere now unfortunately ! : )

  • hahahaha i do like... all those things. im especially the one who laughs annoyingly at everything...

    sorry! <3

  • I am a member of the Austin, Texas Shadow Cast for the Rocky Horror Picture Show (I think you have one in Salt Lake City) and you are allowed, no encouraged to shout at the movie, so it's a lot of fun. Except... We occasionally get people who come to the theater who just don't like the call outs, so they do everything we tell them not to do, instead of, you know, leaving the theater. The tickets cost $5, but there aren't refunds. I didn't know $5 was important enough to throw your drink at us.

  • Miss Honey Bee would not be bothered. She just spaces out, period!

  • Here in Missouri we have them all over the place . That's why I don't go to movies anymore . Just wait until they come out on DVD

  • OH!!! 1978, Gainesville, Florida. Went to see GREASE. 3 girls sat right in front of us, no problem, the theater was packed. The movie starts... the 3 girls... who could NOT sing... SANG... with every song... AARRGG!!!

  • We all know that Utah is The Land of Sunshine, Lollipops And Rainbows, and that NO ONE would ever do any of these things. You must of been in Reno :-)

OK here's one... Seattle, 1996... Phantom of the Opera... A couple sits right in front of my wife and I, the man has a LARGE hat on, and LEAVES it on. I was tall enough to see over THE HAT, but my wife was not.

The man was VERY OFFENDED when I politely asked him to please remove his hat. I think poor manners are not the province of Utah.

  • I love your rants! Oh and btw there are annoying idiots in cinemas the world over!
