most of the strugglers had cars with wide tyres, you'll always go further in snow with narrow ones. my renault 4 van was brilliant in snow, now i have a citroen c15 and it's great, heavy diesel engine, soft power delivery......spot on......
people can't drive for shit lol you want your engine to be trying to stall thats how little your rpms should be so you don't get wheelspin, use second gear to drive unless your actually a good driver then you'll know you can use first just as good.
The council should consider gritting this road... I mean it would cost less than having 5/6 police officers there to direct stupid incompetent drivers.
seriously don't drive in the snow if you are like most people in this video revving the tits off
@hopplacowboy All wheel drive is good for getting going and keeping going. When it comes to stopping all cars have 4 wheel brakes. The difference is that 4x4's tend to have better (off road) tyres.
Interesting that the only American vehicle (the Dodge) in the video is also the only one that is worth a hoot in the snow. Living in a place that regularly sees 10-20 below in the winter and plenty of snow to boot I can attest that front wheel drive cars with low profile rims make for the most awful winter vehicles ever. My friend had a Series II Jaguar, surprisingly it was very good in the snow, no doubt because it weighed a couple of metric shit tons.
@chickinsaw Over here in the UK we get very little snow most the year so it is not worth having a big vehicle, and you are right, in regard to 2 wheel drive in general being poor in snow. And as for the American car being the only one worth having did you not see the British Land Rover at the end, or the Japanese Mitsubishi half way through they worked perfectly. Also an interesting fact for you is that the first car to reach the north pole was a Toyota Hilux.
Not many hills where I live but I have driven on that Bank in the past without snow. Last time we had a load of snow here I was amazed at how many 4X4's I was passing in my Cinquecento!!! LMAO
Thanks for posting this a few years since i went down or up Saltburn bank. When will people learn 2nd gear foot off the gas and let the car do the work. My AWD X Type Jag was superb in the white stuff and as for BMW rear wheel drive forget it!
People really need to learn how to drive in snow. This was an embarassment to humans. They were reving up in 1st so harsh & spinning wheels or breaking like hell going down hill. NO NO NO!!! 2nd gear to move on & downhill you use low gear not breaks! If you didn't know that, why were you driving in this? This is like drink driving without the drink but the same outcome..............
Cool video thanks.
