  • I see that we have many subs in common so I thought to check you out. All I can say is "subbed"!

Thank you for what you do!

    Sheryle

  • Thank you sheryle. Backatcha! (it's early, I'm not very prolific yet)

  • I was touched by this video...

Why aren't beautiful teachers like this woman held in the highest regard in our society? Why do people like Tiger Woods make millions for knocking a ball around and a teacher in our country must struggle to pay their mortgage on a modest home?

My grandparents and Aunts were teachers, they were my heros.

  • It's so nice to know that there are still a few folks out there that value the work teachers do. It helps me get up and go to work in the morning ;)

  • Wonderful, wonderful video. I think you are one of the ones who throws starfish back.

    Cheers, my friend!

  • Thank you, Carl. I've a feeling you are one too. Have a brilliant day!

  • Great video, well said..err typed. Life is about the basics, my niece is in the ninth grade taking chemistry. It is just a memorization exercise, I would like to see kids have to apply knowledge and gain innate understanding. The mastery of complex concepts stems from intimate understanding of the underlying structure. I feel this is glossed over in race to cram in lots of stuff. The good old days are a myth, minorities marginalized, women treated as intellectual inferiors.

  • Thanks Jim. That means the world coming from you. And you're right, the good ol' days ...weren't. I've been doing less more intently this year. Works for me. and while I have you... Wonderful holidays to you. xxx

  • Curt said I should watch this special video reply. I'm glad I listened to him. This is very eloquent in its own way. Power to you.

  • Thank you! Everyone's been so kind. I keep waiting for the "you don't know what the heck you're talking about" comments. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Wow. Very powerful. This is the first of these vids I'm catching. I'll definitely have to respond...

  • Gonna watch the rest first

  • Your response would be needed, worthwhile, ..... it's been a 12 day week, my brain's mush, but you get the point. ;-)

  • At this point, I am so frazzled from what I've seen and heard. I'll definitely be responding, but I'll need to calm myself down a bit. LOL!!

  • Beautiful!! I'm not sure of the state of education in my own country (countries!) at the moment, but I know that the school I went to many moons ago was very strict and very bad. Looking back, I think no one really cared about the pupils as individuals - we were more like sheep. So, your comments made me happy and made me wish I could've had a teacher like you :)

  • After this week I'm a little disillusioned with my "mad teaching skillz"... deep breath. Thank you for cheering me up.

  • You are so admired here, Gert! You and so many dedicated teachers like you :)

  • Thank you so much Liz. That means the world coming from you!!!

  • I adore this video! Teachers, so precious and important to us all, throughout the generations.

You have a wonderful face. :)

  • Aww, adore, eh? I had no idea this would be received so favorably! Thanks, darlin'

  • This video is fantastic Gert! Keep up the good work;)

  • Thank you for watching, hun!

  • oh... and I am proud to be your friend... amazingly proud.

  • I have great models! Thank you, Deb. Truly.

  • This brought tears to my eyes for some reason. It was beautifully done and so heartfelt. If one in a hundred teachers care to make a difference, you are that one. You're an inspiration my friend and a treasure.

  • Oh, great, now you brought tears to my eyes! ::hugs:: Coming from you that's a Huge honor!

  • How could you ever of had any doubts about posting this video! :)

  • I have constant doubt about So much. Thank you for your friendship and support, cat man :)

  • it's my pleasure :)

  • I second that, it was beautifully done.

  • You sum up to perfection , the pride ...and frustrations of teaching 21st Century children in this short but thought provoking video ,Gert ; ) Thank GOD for teachers like you.... : )

    Billy....xx

  • Amen! Oh, wait! No religion in the classroom!! ;) Thank you Very much, Billy

    xx

  • If I watch this video more than twice will I have to pay royalties?... *vbg*

  • You mean I can make a profit too!!

  • Parents can't expect the teachers to do everything. We communicate via e-mail with the teachers and the schools where we live post all assignments and everything on their web site so there are no surprises at report card time. They don't have gym everyday..big mistake. Alot of kids are fat these days.

  • Also...if I had known you were a teacher, I would have behaved myself. I always got in trouble :)

  • For some, behaving themselves is not an option ;) but I appreciate the effort! As for the previous, I like your logic. We post our assignments and upcoming events on the school website as well. See, technology ain't all bad!

  • Absolutely Compadre...

  • I will have to watch this several times to get the marrow from the bones... That said I consider myself fortunate to call you friend... As all your "other" students are, I am sure...

    Pappy whispered it...

  • Pappy, you have once again made me blush... as have the plethora of your comments. Now, your assignment for tonight is to pick my logic apart. :-D

  • You don't need to prove something someone admits openly... Nor does this detail bear any value to the conversation at hand for this video... You should think about that... Before you cast the first stone...

    Pappy Stu said it...

  • Yeah, Pappy, I can't win em all. ::sigh:: but, if it makes you feel any better, there was ignorance with every generation ;)

  • Don't worry, I am not ignorant enough to consider placing that blame at your feet, Lass...

  • Pappy... the last thing in the world I'd consider you is ignorant. Can't say the same for poor Rebecca.

  • I'd be proud to have you be one of my sons teachers.

  • And I bet they'd make it a joy to go to work. I like a few giggles during the day. Thank you for commenting, sweetheart!

  • I love this. Don't know what else to say, just that I love what you said and how you said it.

Thank you for doing this - and thank you for the private messages on this subject. I can tell you would've been one of those teachers who would've inspired me to win out over distractions and actually soak up some knowledge.

    :-)

  • Thank you for the inspiration, truly. This gets bottled up inside me and I need to vent. Oh, and what I said about sleep being over rated? HA... it's going to be a long day. ;) Glad we're doing pumpkin experiments today. XXX

  • I'll bet you're a good teacher.

Now I'm going to play this video again so I can see your face! Crawlers like that are the reason I don't watch Fox News. Well . . . one of the reasons!

  • Yeah... I have the attention span of yarn. I can't watch it without making myself dizzy. Pretty scary that I'm responsible for the youth of America ;-)

  • Pappy likes yams.. yum..

  • Yarn, Pappy... not Yams! silly small text.
