u are either the bravest or dumbest man alive for letting someone driving your stick vette and that someone nevr drove stick before...ohhh SHIITT!!!:))))
lol this is a replica of how i learned to drive stick... I was at a car show and i won the opportunity to drive a miura around the parking lot...btw. i never drove stick before in my life... needless to say my dad was laughing his ass off as i learned to drive stick w/o help... there was a lot of "now you tell me moments" as he tried to explain to a 16 year old how to ease the power on in damn lamborghini!
@need2speed94 wow. Why don't you read the comment I posted seconds before? Maybe it is you who does not know GM that well because the C5 did not come in a Grand Sport variant..
@andyffer dude you are wrong, its a C5 vette not a C6, how can i not read or spell, my spelling is perfectly fine. You watched my vid and saw its a auto? big deal i know how to drive stick as well
I was taught on some random guy's POS corolla with half the interior missing and such.
I was awful with it. Never got it down completely.
I then went to the Bondurant racing course where they put us in the Grand Sports. I was buttery smooth with it on the first try. It was the second time I had ever driven a manual. 2hrs later we were doing heel-toe practices and I nailed it.
AMAZING feel, what a car. This kid has issues if he can't get it.
Just a thought when I will one day teach my kids..... Have a knowledgable driver drive the car while the learner in the passenger seat carefully observes. Then have the leaner sit in the driver seat and go through the motions BUT WITH THE ENGINE OFF!!!! Takes the stress/emotions right out of it. After going throught the motions many times and gaining confidence....fire up the motor and drive away.
Hey asshole Turboguy, you apparently are ingnorant because if you were watching it you would see that I not once yelled at him, but hey you have No fucking clue
That's why you get a beater DD to learn on... I started learning on a 94 altima SE with the original clutch on 170,000 miles. My dad and I replaced the clutch at 175,000. Been driving a stick for a year now, and am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.
Advice to the kid learning: Don't be a dick to your parents. Both of mine drive stick cars. I'm pretty sure your mom (if that's your mom in the video) has more experience than you do, and also didn't learn on a Vette. Don't act spoiled.
I learned in my dads 2010 camaro ss. My problem was I got nervous when my dad was in the car and I would let off the clutch to fast. Now I feel for the catch, give a little gas, and left off slow and smooth.
@TheZoelzer2 No, But I know that a good amount does. There's some oil in the engine, but it's a lot healthier for the engine to idle for at least five seconds before slamming it in gear and flooring it.
@Marshmallowrex Did you even read the part where I said I'm not a huge fan. I just respect that it's a quick car. "Build quality" is what someone brags about when they drive a ricebox that can't get out of it's own way.
@TheZohaun Yea i learned in my friends Mercedes AMG and i was nice and respectful because i was glad to have the opertunity to drive such a nice car and for him taking the time to teach me... but then again i apparently had this nack for driving manuals xD
@BVBxArmy1616 Exactly my point! I learned on a jeep wrangler with a 12" rubicon lift kit and 42" tires. Was a blast! I never got frustrated just kept at it. Took me 1 try to get it without stalling, 4 to get it smooth, and then we went to a hill and he asked me to get it going without rolling back too far, first try I got it to go smoothly without rolling back more than 1 foot. Was a successful adventure and I miss that jeep. Now I drive a 5 speed 03 mustang GT. So much fun
@TheZohaun Yea im hopefully getting a 1994 3000GT VR-4 for my first car... my parents werent happy about the insurance cost going up but ya know, if theyre willing to pay for it then im not arguing especially since its a manual <3
@Marshmallowrex lol. Yes, just because Corvette's are GM, your shitty little civic is better. Jesus H. Christ are you retarded, or just being stupid on purpose?
about putting the gear into neutral; I used to do it a lot while driving since it helps to save on gas and stuff, I got yelled at a couple times by my dad... and he said that with new computerized cars, manuel ones, if somehow the engine dies when car is in neutral while driving in a certain speed, you may have serious problems like steering wheel locks itself and brakes swells up. and it may trouble you if that ever happens. so just sharing what I heard
about putting the gear into neutral; I used to do it a lot while driving since it helps to save on gas and stuff, I got yelled at a couple times by my dad... and he said that with new computerized cars, manuel ones, if somehow the engine dies when car is in neutral while driving in a certain speed, you may have serious problems like steering wheel locks itself and brakes swells up. and it may trouble you if that ever happens. so just sharing what I heard
clutch is very important... and for driving a manual, you have to focus on that.as long as you have control over clutch and master on that, you wont have difficult time driving a manuel car. and if you feel something is not right or dont feel comfortable when you are driving, put the clutch all the way down without putting the gear to neutral and your foot on the brake just in case if you need it... and that should solve the problem. those are the basics, others are more like details :))
@OFM515 You don't have to, you can just press in the clutch which is basically putting it into neutral. Whenever I'm coming to a stop I just press in the clutch and the brake till I come to a stop, then I put it in first with my foot still on the clutch and then go :). You can also just put it into neutral and glide then start to brake when you come close to the stop, when you stop, throw it in first and go.
@SmashedGamers Ah, it makes clear sense to me now ha thanks, I probably sounded dumb there, but I am looking into getting a new car and I ran across one that I think might be a possibility, and it's a manual transmission, and you guessed it, I don't know how to drive stick
@OFM515 um depends on traffic like i will start slowing down before the stop light if i know its going to go green or if traffic is slowing down. some one told me that if your going 10mpg you should be in first and like 20 second 30 third and so on but the way i learn is by listening to the engine if im to high or low in gear and if im moving and need to turn you slow down and turn in second never 1st unless your are at a complete stop then going.if im at a stop light then yes ill be in neutral.
@morg405 Here is the deal though with the Vette- I was super scared to screw it up or burn the clutch and i was really nervous every time I went out to learn. Its been since Sept 2010 and the Vette is still going strong (I have a few driving test videos up).
