wars or historic events... eg, 30 was when Jesus was crucified, 476 was the last Roman emperor, 1337 the hundred years war (actually lasted 116 years, fail) 1431 Joan of Arc burnt at the stake, 1520 this game ends, 1776 revolution in US, 1861 US civil war, 1914 WW1 starts, 1929 Hitler came to power, 1939 WW2 starts (personally i think it was earlier when japan invaded china), 1945 WW2 ends and Frank Roosevelt reaches a 4th term (while no other US president has reached a 3rd)

Please bear in mind that while the dates are correct, not all of them may be the most important things that happened then. It's just the ones I could be arsed to find on Wikipedia.
