There was a commercial back in the 70's where the guy who played Big Fig(Newtons) tasted that and Coors and thought Schmidt's(Philly) was Coors.

Use to call it Schmidty Big runs.... closest place to get them was 35 miles away. Packed the cooler and headed back. Was good beer and good times.

My mothr & I loved Schmidt's Beer, drank it by the cases! There were other beers with different tastes, but the BEST all around good tasting beer was Schmidt's!

Love Schmidts Beer, I grew up 3 blocks from the brewery and we would take a case off the flat bed trains in the back of the brewery daily, and drink until we could not drink anymore as teenagers. What a childhood because of Schmidts.

Big Jim's coming

It's nice to see someone remembered this "Big Jim" commercial. I wrote it back in the early 70s while working for Schmidt Beer's advertising agency Burton Sohigian in Detroit. It was a finalist in the New York Clio awards.
