  • It's true! If you don't have sex, no AIDS!

  • I wonder why McCain did not send one of those letters to Sara Palin's daughter.

  • The second page of that brochure says "...with your wife." John McCain cheated on his overweight, disabled first wife. What happened to the vow of "in sickness and in health"? John McCain has no moral values and knows nothing about sexual morality.

  • Actually I know from testimony that abstinence is the best way to go. Now I have a wonderful husband, and to be honest with you I don't know that I would love him the same way I do if it weren't for me practicing abstinence.

  • @LovedbcHim Meanwhile, I don't practice abstinence and that doesn't get in the way of me loving my wonderful boyfriend. It tuns out sex has nothing to do with it.

  • oh cmon.. we have enuf on our hands already... the last thing we want happening is women not giving up their pussy.... its torture... somebody snipe old fart mccain.

  • Healthcare covers preteen baby dyke abortions so women have to shut up about it. Society is forced to pay for your actions now. All because you can't be sexually responcible. As long tax payers foot the bill we can limit how many abortions are payed for.

  • @ToxicOdiousOne Taxpayers don't foot the bill, liar.

  • hahahah 1 of the 100000 reasons why mccain lost the election........dumbass......

  • Best advice ever! We need more places like Mcain Clinic!

  • @OhNoItsCommonSense

Yeah, who needs to be taught about safe driving, seat belts, and airbags when you can just tell people not to ride in cars?

  • I never said it shouldn't be taught, but there is no argument saying you can get pregnant or an STD from abstinence.

  • @OhNoItsCommonSense and if you don't get in a car you won't be in a car accident.

The point is, saying 'just don't' is not giving information. a McCain clinic like this would not be a real clinic at all but would be more along the lines of the bullshit someone would expect from a CPC.

  • man, even priest and pastors have extramarital sex, what do you expect from a horney teenager, lol

  • LOL

  • Haha, very funny indeed. *being sarcastic*

This is a joke as you can see, but you have to admit, if you don't have sex with every other guy you see it is a great way to prevent getting these diseases. And I'm sorry, but it's rather disgusting that most teens now a days have had sex already.

  • GO McCAIN!!!!!!!

  • Wait, is not having sex Not a medically accurate way to prevent HIV and STD's? I realize that there are many other ways to prevent/ lower the risk, but this commercial implies that Abstinence is not a factual medical method of preventing HIV and STD's.

  • John McCain dismissed equal pay legislation for women.

John McCain on what the 'real' problem is: "They (women) need the education and training..."

McCain also states he's for equal pay for equal work.

Put that together with him dismissing the equal pay legislation for women, and what exactly is he saying?

WHAT EXACTLY IS JOHN MCCAIN SAYING ABOUT WOMEN?

Don't be fooled. Do your research.

    OBAMA/BIDEN 08!

  • Women get paid more than men on average for intellectual jobs. (i.e. Managing positions, accountants...) but for MALE jobs that required a better physical state, the man gets paid more, because he is NATURALLY stronger.

  • "Women get paid more than men on average for intellectual jobs"

    Empirically proven statement.

    Good comment.

  • So, how's that hope and change working out for you?

  • People like to say that abstinence is 100%. Problem is, it's only 100% if you are 100% abstinent 100% of the time.

IOW, only *perfect* abstinence is 100%. Well hell, a *perfect* condom would be 100%; a *perfect* Pill would be 100%. Problem is, neither the Pill, condoms, nor great and holy abstinence is perfect. In fact, vows of chastity fail far more often than do other forms of birth control.

    Vows break easier than latex.

Abstinence fails more often than progestagen.

  • A lot of misinformation exists about who and how STDS and HIV are contracted. Until parents stop acting like willy nilly asses when discussing sex with their kids, they need to get the right info on how to protect themselves. Previous generations espoused "no sex" to no avail. Forced marriages and backstreet abortions ensued. Wake up and stop the cycle of stupidity and hypocrisy. Keep politics out of doctor-patient conversations.

  • What hypocrisy! McCain's flattering bios - one aired on CNN, the other MSNBC - both having him *admitting* he was a big-time skirt-chaser and party-boy. He gave new meaning to the image of the drunken sailor's weekend bash. He dated base groupies and strippers, eventually married, cheated on his wife with other women, cheated on the other women with still more women, and then dumped the wife when he found he had a chance to nab the richest woman in Arizona.

    Shut up, Mr. McAinus!

  • Abstanance is bad but abortion is worse.

  • Kind of true, unfortinately though abstinence doesn't work and protection harldy protect against STD's sigh.

  • it really is that simple.. if you dont wanna contract something dirty or if you dont want a little basted image of urself running around.. keep ur dick in ur pants..

fuck all you welfare loving freeloading losers.

how much more sex ed do u need?

  • How about contraception, dipshit!?

  • ... Hmm, I seem to remember Hitler taking away learning, too.

It doesn't hurt to be knowledgeable, that is actually a very good thing. The government is already allowing more and more spying, and now there are conceptual ideas that some are trying to ban in schools... People, there are authors that wrote books about these kinds of things happening 80 YEARS ago! Anyone recall Huxley or Orwell?

  • Only...that's absurd because we have all sorts of other options available - why don't we educate kids in them? Instead o beating children when they have sex and then leaving them to deal with the consequences, why not actually present options that accomplish something? See the other response. Asshole.

  • That's a great idea! Then, no one has to be responsible for their own actions! In case you haven't noticed, kids ARE educated. They aren't stupid. They are confronted with sex every day in school, on the internet and around friends. They know what options are out there. But if we tell kids that it's perfectly ok to have sex with multiple partners with no consequences, they get careless and eventually someone gets pregnant. But that's ok, she can just get an abortion anyway, right?

  • They may be confronted with sexual images, but that doesn't mean that they know how to enjoy sex w/o getting pregnant and/or sick.

There are girls who think you that if you jump up and down right after sex, you won't get pregnant.

How about giving the young people some education, so that they CAN be responsible for their own actions!

  • Why does EVERY Video have a latin with a latin accent?

    I'm a latin..and i don't have a latin accent.

It's sickening to always see Latins with Latin accents in These videos.

    We're not all wetbacks. Kthx

  • Fuck me. I was JUST thinking the same thing.

  • ~~~~~~~<3~~~~~

  • You do realize when you say "Fuck me" that you've just ruined some poor teen's abstinence pledge?

    ^_~

  • Some Latina's have latina accents. what's wrong with that?

  • Because it's FUCKING annoying as hell and it's typical.

I hate talking to people online and telling them i'm latin and then they hear my voice and assume i have an accent.

    Wtf people. Seriously.

  • It is easy for JOhn McBush to say "don't have sex"

  • John McBush probably DOESN'T have sex....tell me...would it be a "hold up," or a "stick up?" LOL

  • LOL!

P.S. But check out his past. I know, I know. It's practically prehistoric. But what else was going on when he graduated fifth from the bottom in a class of almost 900? Wanna guess?

  • Abstinence only education worked great for Bristol Palin, didn't it?

  • lol, exactly.

  • Show it to Palin lol

  • Abstinence-only sex education worked great for Bristol Palin, didn't it? Why not the rest of America?!

  • @LethbridgeStewart It only works if you do it stupid.

  • Put every one of these videos on tv every hour.

  • ravenshroud I couldn't agree with you more!!!

  • RIGHT ON!

  • John McCain HATES WOMEN!

John McCain called his own wife a CUNT in a public venue!

McCain called Chelsea Clinton "ugly" at a press conference in 1998. Chelsea was only 18 yrs. old and very self-conscious.

John McCain cheated on his 1st wife w/ Cindy McCain for over a year they "sneaked" around!

John McCain verbally abused his 1st wife Carol McCain for gaining weight after she had been in a terrible car accident & couldn't work out!

John McCain will overturn Roe v. Wade!

  • 1. Proof?

    2. Proof?

    3. Well she is ugly.

    4. So what?

    5. Proof?

    6. Now you have made an actual point. Actually, enough Democracts are in office to prevent that. A president cannot overturn that.

  • I'm a Dem, but claims like this look ridiculous. When posting something like this, please provide proof. Your post sounds perfectly 'republicanesque.'

  • McCain said himself on the view he would appoint supreme court judges that has the same beliefs he has. He is against abortion and Palin is against it even if the woman is raped. Are you ready for a president and vice-president that want to take woman back to the days of yesterday?

  • in all honesty, im voting for obama, but this ad in the series is a bit lame..

  • Finally someone agrees.

  • well it brings a good point

  • Why does McCain not even support better access to contraception and the education of it? If he wants to severly reduce abortion, that would be a great 1st step in the right direction. Is he Catholic? Does he take the "be fruitful and multiply" verse in the Bible a way too literally? It's just completely insane the way these anti-choice fuktards operate. Why do we have govt. subsidies for Viagra yet not for bc pills? And don't give me that crap,"But bc pills can cause abortion." Stfu, they don't!

  • im personaly against large funding for sex education. there should be some. but its up to parents to teach about sexuality to thier kids. its part of being a parent.

  • "im personaly against large funding for sex education"

Why? The education of our children is the responsibility of ALL citizens, not just parents. Ever since we started teaching Sex Ed in public schools, teenage pregnancy rates have declined. Sex Ed works. We need to step up the effort so all children can be reached.

  • Have you not realized the failure of so many of todays parents? In my life (im 22...) I have smoked meth, pot, drank alchohol, done heroin, acid, ecstacy, cocaine, probably more but you get the point, ALL WITH FRIENDS OF MINES PARENTS (different ones for each, and multiple for many of the substances). And most of this was before I was 18. I'm from the Bay area, not a bad neighborhood, but the fact is parents are not this moral beacon of hope for children, it has fallen upon the schools

  • to teach children about these sorts of things. Yes, ideally we still need parents, but the only way to guarantee the future health and safety of our children is to pay even more for sex education, and make sure that was it taught, is NOT this BS abstinence only stuff. Because that doesnt work.

One of the reasons why so many parents are failing is because of young pregnancies. When you have a baby as a teen, youre still gonna be a teen once that kid grows up, cause you won't have had a chance to

  • Telling gals not to have sex. Where are American hos going to get the experience. In our service economy how will they compete with hos from other countries? It's just not right.

  • I don't get the last few seconds. How can they be "exclusive" videos if they were uploaded to YouTube?

  • know your partner, wear a condom, use birth control, and the morning after pill is allways there... pretty safe if you can do all of that.

  • "It just says...dont have sex" LOL kinda hard to comprehend

  • For all those people repeating this phrase:

    "I've managed to remain a virgin, and I'm 26. It's very possible."

Didn't you figure out by now that you are still a virgin because you can't get laid for any reason?

  • I'm pro-life, but I think we need to tell kids about how these diseases are transmitted, and that abstinence is the best way to avoid such diseases. But to expect that everyone, especially young people, is going to follow this rule, is pretty ludicrous. Sure, I'm not having sex, but I'm not going to say that another person shouldn't protect themselves if they decide to have sex.

  • Exactly! Mackcat, it's nice to see at least one pro-lifer here gets it... :)

Teaching kids that abstinence is the best way to prevent STDs is fine (because it IS the best way), but not all kids are going to abstain... Some will want to have sex and will do so, regardless of what their sex ed teacher tells them... Better they be taught how to do it with at least SOME measure of safety and responseability...

  • suppose the person you marry has an STD? suppose you were born rith one? marriage is not a cure-all for diseases, it's a state of being invented by mankind. it's sad to think modern day people still believe being married makes a difference to your body.

  • I hate to say it, but if you abstain from sex until marriage...then you won't get STDs. It's sad to think modern day Americans can't think like that anymore.

  • yeah but when you find out on your honey moon that you dont enjoy sex with your partner... well SUCKS for you

  • actually sex gets better with time...if you have a connection with someone...you'll enjoy it.

  • ever heard of "cheating", anythings possible.

  • i don't know where you people got this pro-life propaganda that condoms don't work but in the Merck Manual of Medical Information it states that only 3-14% of women get pregnant if condoms are used correctly. there's a right and a wrong way to use them and many don't know the difference because they weren't educated on it.

  • Besides, science cannot provide absolute certainty... There's always a risk when using condoms, but shouldn't we be teaching kids how to use condoms properly, how to use them in conjuction with other contraceptives (I've heard condoms + the pill is a very effective combination) and the associated risks? That'd certainly substaintially reduce (NOT entirely prevent) unanted pregnancy and would ensure that kids aren't doing things like drinking caps of bleach in an attempt to prevent STDs...

  • By the way, here's something for you members of the anti-contraceptive crowd to consider... You speak out against abortions, that's fine, but you do realise that if we gave kids proper sex-ed and taught them about resposable sex, not only would we have fewer horror stories like the kids down in Florida drinking bleach, but we'd also have fewer unwanted pregnancies... Not only would this lower America's teen pregnancy rate, but FEWER UNWANTED PREGNANCIES MEANS FEWER ABORTIONS!

  • pro-lifers always say stuff like "just don't have sex" and it's so stupid. i mean it's a basic instinct so it's gonna happen. i think a lot of anti-abortionism (that's not a word is it?) is just designed to punish women. and FYI married women have abortions too.

  • I'm pro life and I understand that abstinence is not realistic. So women, if you decide to open your legs knowing you can't raise a child, you should be woman enough to push that child out. Damn, whatever happen to personal accountability?

  • You do realise you just proved supersquabbit's point, right kcballintyp? The arguement that women shouldn't have abortions is fine (it's called being pro-life), but the arugement that we shouldn't teach the women of tomorrow about responseable sex and pre-pregnancy contraceptives like condoms because abortion is murder is simply a vield attempt to punish women and is, as I said, like saying Boeing should dismatle its 747s because F-15s kill people... It's not the same thing...

  • 100% agree with you!!!!

  • 100% agree with kcballintyp....Im pro life as well

  • pssssssssssssssssst...stop spreading lies. you know he means don't have sex until you are married. all you are is promoting people to get diseases and unwanted pregnancies. are you willing to take care of those babies?? or is your answer abortion???

  • Don't have sex until you're married? You fucking moron - this isn't a Christian country, and if it were, it would be a joke. This is a secular nation. If you oppose medically accurate sex education, you're an imbecile - not having that is akin to teaching children that smoking pot can kill you. Once they get a little older and find out you're full of shit, they're not going to trust anything you've said - even the good advice. Welcome to reality.

  • they can have sex ALL they WANT...they just have to be ready for the consequences. seriously people act like people don't know how babies are made...they are just experimenting. HELLOOOooo experiment while using the birth control!!! if you aren't going to use birth control don't have sex!!! look...I fooled around when I was a kid...40 years ago and KNEW how not to make babies...what did america get stupid?????

  • What the hell is 3swelldogs on about? McCain is in favour of abstinence only sex-ed, meaning that teens AREN'T going to get taught about condoms or birth control pills or really much of anything... THAT'S the problem... It'd be perfectly fine if McCain was in favour of a program that gave teens real infomation regarding birth control and STDs but also reccomended abstinence... That'd be fine, as long as the actual education is there... But that's the thing... Under McCain, it won't be...

  • first of all...we keep putting responsibility on the school system to teach them things that isn't their duty to. like it or not...that is the parents job. we wonder why our kids can't add or subtract..or read. school isn't suppose to be about sex education...we didn't have it for years and years...everyone got a long just fine...what happened...every one just got stupid????

  • *Rolls eyes* But as long as America has sex ed as part of its school curriculum, don't you think they ought to be teaching kids properly instead of having some woman hold up a peace of paper, take a butane lighter to it and say "this is what happens when Fred and Whilma ignite the flames of passion"?

  • no...IF they MUST teach at ALL...teach them NOT to have SEX. show them people with pictures of people with diseases and the death it has caused...but go no further than that. we have to be careful about not taking the parents role away. yes...some parents aren't doing a good job...but it is NOT the place of the government to DO THEIR JOB. teach things like "safe" sex...well this is NO SUCH thing and that is part of the problem...people THINK there is.

  • Urghh... Could someone take over from me? This is going nowhere fast... :/

  • thats right...when you don't have an argument to stand on..it stops. the fact is that if a woman is WILLING to kill something that is inside of her that when it comes it will be a part of her says a lot about her. I think at that point...if you MUST give them an abortion...also sterilize them...after all that would be the FAIR thing.

  • Alright... I'm only going to say this once... Wether you are pro-life or pro-choice, abortions and contraceptives like the pill and condoms are NOT THE SAME THING! Arguing that we shouldn't teach kids to use condomns because abortion is murder is like saying Boeing should disband all its 747s because F-15C Eagles kill people... It's NOT THE SAME THING!

  • well the ONE thing we CAN do is make laws regarding abortions...you have one...you go to jail...we put people in jail ALL the time...and young ones too...we put them in jail in part for being irresponsible. I do NOT believe an abortion should be used as a contraceptive...they ARE different..and condoms are NO contraceptives in this day and age.

  • "and condoms are NO contraceptives in this day and age."

    ?

Where do you get this stuff... News flash buddy... Condoms work...

  • you'd better start doing some reading...condoms break...at best they are only good to prevent a disease. not to mention the fact that they are constantly being recalled off the market...why??? sometimes they have holes...sometimes they break far more easily than what they are suppose to. you want to get pregnant...use a condom they rarely work.

  • been having sex for nearly a year now, condoms alone protected me for 5 months then i went on the pill

    not preggers, not infected

    enjoying life =P

  • I'm not saying that condoms can't protect you from having a baby...they just aren't considered reliable...and this is from the medical community. one question though...how do you know you haven't caught something...like have you been tested?? I got tested after I was raped...thought it prudent.

  • condoms are better used with another form of contraception, but its always better to use protection of any sort if you dont intend to get a disease or pregnant

yes i have been tested, my university provides free AIDES and STD testing, and i've taken advantage of that

and considering i havent been sleeping around and only with one guy, its unlikely

i'm an advocate for responsible sex

  • why do democrats WANT to promote people getting aids...like pretending there is such a thing a safe sex??

  • It's funny how McCain hopes to get former Hillary supporters to vote for him.

He's so cute in his senior moments!

  • they will have sex regardless, you better give educate them upfront on how to be safe.. stupid McCain!!!

  • Information about STIs/STDs can assist in teaching young people about abstinence. It's a scare factor honestly - kids/teens/young adults don't like the idea of being stuck with a chronic disease they could've prevented.

  • Abstinence can be part of the solution. It is the most effective way to prevent STDs and unwanted pregnancies but teenagers should be given access to ALL information. They have a right to know how to protect themselves should they decide to have sex, we don't want a country full of teens who think taking shots of bleach prevent HIV and drinking 2 liters of Mountain Dew prevents pregnancies. (google that and Florida, scary stuff. Thanks Abstinence only education!)

  • I don't see what's wrong with the pamphlet... it's definitely factual information, and the most efficient piece of information regarding STDs, or pregnancy.

If we're living in a time where our "hormone raging youth" cannot put aside their sexual urges, like most American kids in the past did, then it doesn't matter what information exists in the pamphlet.

The reason being is that you're already caliming they can't control themselves, so this information wouldn't work anyways.

  • |If we're living in a time where our "hormone raging youth" cannot put aside their sexual urges, like most American kids in the past did,|

    .......^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Excuse me? When exactly was this Golden Age? Now there was a time when people married so young they didn't have much time to have sex first. But even then, we know they sometimes did.

  • Haha.Anyone who has kids knows they dont listen to either side of this argument. They may know all there is to know about safe sex,STD's,wearing a condom or whatever, and still go out and not use it.

  • Not having sex IS the only way to prevent getting STDs

  • Good for you, but I love sex and girls...

  • That's not true. Being sealed in a bubble and only having sex with pre-screened people while using a double-thick condom would work too.

But that isn't practical, nor is abstinence in populations.

  • Teenagers have been having sex for hundreds, if not thousands of years, and that isn't going to change. There have been dozens of studies on abstinence programs, and the findings show that they do not reduce the rate of sexual activity or STDs among young people....

  • Well it's good that in a FREE COUNTRY, you

would try to tell someone else what they

should do with their life. It's no different

then me telling u that u should have sex.

In a FREE COUNTRY, why don't we try minding

our own FUCKING BUSINESS for a change!!?

  • Er....isn't abstinence the only way to absolutely, 100% avoid STDs? What's not "medically accurate" about that??

  • And what fantasy land do you live in?

  • Are you an fucking idiot, you can't tell kids high on hormons not to have sex, it´s impossible.

  • It's not impossible; large numbers of "high on hormones" kids do it every year. I've managed to remain a virgin, and I'm 26. It's very possible. But regardless, it is completely accurate that abstinance is the only foolproof way to avoid getting an STD.

  • While abstinence may not be impossible, it's simply an unrealistic solution at the population level. Kids tend to react to abstinence with pretty much the same attitude that they have towards prohibition. Tell them not to use drugs and many will try them just to go against the social norm. The key to the problem of STDs, like drugs, is definitely education.

You can praise the virtues of abstinence as much as you want in your church but please don't impose your outdated solution upon others...

  • I wouldn't mind if the commercial simply stated that McCain favors abstinence education. But this commercial implies that the abstinence message is not medically accurate, which is untrue. Abstinence is the most effective way to solve the problem of STDs.

  • Actually, abstinence is one of the LEAST effective ways to solve the problem of STD's. This is because the person practicing it often finds "loopholes," such as "well if it's just oral I'm still a virgin" and because the truth is most of the people promise to abstain end up having sex.

  • That doesn't mean that abstinence is ineffective. If I am on a specialized diet, but I rationalize to myself that "just one little thing won't hurt me", or I give up all together and stuff my face, then any problems I have are my own fault; it doesn't mean the diet is ineffective.

Likewise with abstinence. STDs cannot spread without sex. If I have sex, then I should be prepared for all the possible consequences. Abstinence, practiced properly, is the only way to 100% stop STDs.

  • I can see the sense in your diet analogy. Having been on a diet, fallen off, and gained weight, I can really see it.

If, however, the vast majority of people on this specialized diet end up falling off, stuffing their faces, and winding up fatter than before, then you have to consider the possibility that it's a BAD DIET.

  • I was specifically thinking of my own diet, which excludes all wheat, barley, and rye products. (I have celiac disease).

Avoiding these things entirely is the only way to avoid nasty stomach problems.

The vast majority of people I know do, sometimes, chow down on, say, pizza. And they have terrible stomach problems afterward.

Should doctors stop recommending this diet, even though it's the only foolproof way to prevent health complications? Is the diet bad because it's hard??

  • Maybe it's the only way for YOU to maintain good health, but it isn't for EVERYBODY. Should doctors recommend a hard-too-follow diet to EVERYBODY, while neglecting to mention other ways to maintain health, lose weight, and avoid stomach upset? ONLY the hard-to-follow strict diet which most people fall off of is recommended, while easier diets combined with exercise, or a suggesting to find high-fiber low-fat versions of loved foods is never mentioned.

  • You see, the problem with the abstinence-only approach is the only. I nor hardly anybody else has a problem with INCLUDING abstinence, what we have a problem with is EXCLUDING everything else. It is as if doctors told everybody who wants to shed a few pounds to fast until they are married (and gave them no information on how to eat a healthy diet after that).

  • If everybody had celiac disease, I would say yes. Avoiding gluten completely is the only way to avoid health problems completely.

Recommending that anyone follow a course of action which could endanger their health is a bad idea. Schools tell children not to play in the street. They don't tell them where to buy helmets and padding in an attempt to make playing in the street "safer".

  • But you see, not everybody does have celiac disease. Also, let's be honest: you can't have gluten EVER. But parents DO want their kids to have sex. Not right now, of course, but most parents want to be grandparents some day, and how is THAT supposed to happen?

Also, we tell our kids not to play in the street, but we don't just tell them "don't play." No, we tell them, "play, but not in the street," "play, but not with matches," "play, but not on the roof," "play, but not with your food."

  • SailorBarsom - there IS a difference between parents wanting to become grandparents, and parents wanting their children to "have sex". I'm not sure my parents would be very thrilled if I started "having sex". But I know they would be very happy for me if I had children. But not a ton of half-siblings, with "fathers" that left me right after I got pregnant! They would want their daughter/son to have a happy, good marriage and have children that way.

You see, there is just a *slight* difference.

  • If your parents want you to have children, then either they want you to have sex or they think you are the Virgin Mary. And since that is unlikely, then yes your parents want you to have sex.

Not with just anybody, and not the sort of find her feel her fuck her forget her thing you alluded to, but they can not, CAN NOT become grandparents unless you have sex, or maybe adopt a child from someone who did.

Grandparenthood without sex just ain't a'gonna happen.

  • Err. O. K.

It is obvious to anybody that knows about sex that without it you don't have children..... the normal way. Your point is obvious even to a 10-year-old.

There is just a *slight* difference between wanting your children to have sex and wanting to be a grandparent.

Sure, you aren't going to be a 'blood' grandparent without your child having sex. Obviously.

But instead of thinking "I hope they have sex I hope they have sex" you think "I wish I were a grandparent".

  • A distinction without a different. The fact remains: parents do want their kids to have sex. They may not phrase it that way, but they know how babies are made and they want babies made.

Not while the kid is still in middle school, of course. But the problem is that ab-only doesn't teach kids anything about sex except "don't." And we compare it to drugs or playing in traffic.

Again, we don't want our kids to EVER play in traffic or do drugs, but we DO want them to have sex... eventually.

  • It´s beacuse you are ugly and nobody liked you.

Abstinance for the individual is almost 100%, for a group it´s probobly the worst system.

You can´t make kids to believe in abstinance in large numbers with out brainwashing or the death penalty

  • Another problem with trying to convince teens that sex is a horrible deadly awful thing to be avoided at all costs... until you're married.

What about when the kid does get married? She or he knows do do ca ca about sex, except how horribly dangerous and gross it is. What is that going to do to married life? And what if the newlyweds don't want babies just yet? They've been taught that birth control doesn't work. Are they supposed to abstain AFTER marriage?

  • um...that actually makes sense to me. The best way to keep yourself from getting an STD is to not have sex.

Teenagers shouldn't be having sex anyway. (I'm a teenager, I don't think people my age should be having sex.)

  • Because you are ugly`???

  • C'mon man, that is mean, maybe he/she was born without genitals or something. Who knows?

  • I don't assume that a teen who decides not to have sex is ugly or dickless or pussyless or whatever. A teen who has decided not to have sex should be supported in that decision.

But the teenager who decides TOO have sex should also be supported. At the least, can we agree that the sexually active teenager doesn't deserve to die for having sex? Haven't we come a bit further along than that?

As for education: the abstinent teen won't be hurt by it, and the active teen will benefit from it.

  • Oooh, yes, I will support my 13yo's (don't have one, just an example) in her choice of having sex! That's so good that she wants to do it, as long as she uses birth control and 2 condemns! Do you really think that way? Teens shouldn't have sex..... it can be a horrible experience for them, they can get hurt or get a disease. They might enjoy it in some cases, but even if the girl is older than say, 16, she shouldn't do it. It's illegal to have sex with under 18yo's in the US anyway.

  • Greetings, my fellow American! And I can tell you are an American because we and we alone seem to have this notion that 18 is the Universal and Eternal Age of Consent.

Google "age of consent" and you will see that in most of the world AND in most American states, that isn't the case. In most states it's 16, and even those where it is alder usually make exceptions for people close in age.

  • This means is that it would be illegal for ME to have sex with, say, a 15yo. But not for another 15yo. This is fine, since they'd be a lot better off having sex with each other than with me anyway.

Teens have always had sex. Always. From the time of Lucy to the present day, and into the future. And since they are going to do it whether we like it or not, we should help them be prepared. Those who do abstain will not be hurt by this knowledge, and those who are active will benefit from it.

  • No offense intended, this is purely just to type words.

I think I knew that before you, actually. Teens will always have sex. But teenage pregnancies have gone up a lot lately. Please prove the opposite to me if you think differently. Also, do you have anything more interesting to do than continuously prove that parents want their kids to have sex? lol

I do not spend hours on the computer researching random infos unlike some lol.... but in my area 18 is the law.

  • When I'm about to state something as a fact, I'll spend a few minutes (it seldom takes hours in this modern age) to make sure I've gotten it right. Less embarrassing that way.

  • lol, you're the one that's embarrassing yourself. You know, quite a lot of people in the USA and Africa have aids. I wonder why that is..... oooh, maybe because those people had sex and got the disease that way? That might just be right... ?

I'm not even going to waste my time talking to you lol..... you seem to dull witted.

  • YOU are the one who thought the AoC was 18 everywhere, because you didn't bother to check. Not me.

YOU are the one who thought that there was less teen sex in the old days, because you didn't bother to check. Not me.

You know, quite a few people in Europe and Asia and Australia DON'T have AIDS. I wonder why that is..... oooh, maybe nobody on those continents has sex?

Or maybe they have just as much sex as Africans and Americans do, but they take the simple precautions that work.

  • And I withdrew my charge of name-calling because you claimed that "Idiot!" wasn't name-calling, just an exclamation. Seems a bit iffy, but I took you at your word. After all, you didn't type "You idiot!"

But "you seem to dull witted" can't be explained away, so don't bother. You are resorting to ad hominem because you have lost the argument, and you know it.

    Thank you for playing.

  • Have it your own way then, makes no difference to me lol. I wasn't taking you seriously anyways. Oh, I'm sorry, did I hurt your feelings?

As for teen sex in the 50's..... that's when the baby boom occured, but, those teens (that were at least 16, I'm sure) were married. So that isn't exactly teen sex. Obviously too complicated for dim-witted people to understand. :)

Have you ever tried flying a kite in the park before? It's such a lovely day outside..... lol

  • I'm sure my feeling would be desperatly hurt if I wasn't laughing so hard.

Ladies and gentlemen, please note that this thread has become a classic example, on SportHorse10's part, of fallacious argumentation. In the post immediately above, we see:

An attempt to pretend she didn't really mean it. Sure seemed like she meant it a few posts back, didn't it. But you see, it's OK to be all wrong if you didn't really mean it.

  • An attempt to change what she was arguing in the first place (well that isn't reeeeaaalllyy teen sex).

A continuing refusal to check facts before stating things as if they were gospel (she's "sure" that the teens in the 50s were at least 16... how?).

And, of course, the ad hominem. If she can can convince you (herself?) that I'm really stupid, well then she doesn't have to consider my arguments, because after all, how right can a dull-witted guy be?

  • You crack me up (lol)

  • A young married person having sex with her husband isn't teen sex. Sure, she may be a teen, so it physically is, but it is quite different from 2 unmarried 16yo's having sex. By a long shot. But it might just be a bit too complicated for you to understand.... all you do is poorly try to make me sound stupid.

But you are not worth talking to. Did you buy a kite yet?

  • And teens don't get ripped up for having sex..... not at all... even if they get pregnant and it throws off their life. But, ever since this is considered "acceptable" the crime rate in the US has grown tremendously. I wonder if it's because of all those fatherless/motherless children.....

And, there isn't a certain rule that says teen who don't have sex will be fine, and teens that do will too. Idiot!

A teen that doesn't will obviously not get hurt by it, but a teen that does might. Duhh....

  • I haven't called you names, so please grant me the same courtesy.

Now, about all those daddiless kids...

Back in the Fifties and Sixties, the teen pregnancy rate was higher than it is today. Yes, it really was. You can look it up. But, many people married in their teens, and many more in their early twenties. So those pregnant teenagers were pregnant MARRIED teenagers.

These days, fewer teens are getting pregnant, but those who are aren't married, because...

    durned character limit

  • ...most people don't marry that young anymore. So no, there isn't some new-fangled epidemic of teen sex going on.

Also, your argument (sex became acceptable and the crime rate went up, therefore acceptable sex causes crime) is a post hoc ergo proctor hoc argument, and those are invalid. Unless you can make the causal connection between the two events, you might as well be saying that space flight causes illegitimacy. After all, the illegitimacy rate has gone up since the Moon Landings.......

  • I never called you an idiot. I just exclaimed the word. :)There is a difference between married pregnant teens and unmarried pregnant teens. And I don't think that there were ask many teen pregnancies as now. There may have been 16-17 year old pregnancies, but people married earlier then. But I doubt that there were as many 11-15 year old pregnancies. Not by a long shot.

I never said sex causes crime. But do you think a child brought up in a good family, by that meaning that the parents.....

  • I'll accept that you were just doing the "Interjection!" thing, and not name-calling. So I retract the charge.

YouTube won't let me post links. Just google on

    "teenage pregnancy" fifties

and follow up from there. It was higher then. It fell a lot during the Nineties.

  • ... weren't teens when they had children themselves, but already had a steady flow of income, and they raised their children well, is as likely to grow up to be a criminal as a kid from a family with no father, and a young, penniless mother that doesn't even care about her kids?

Sex itself doesn't cause crime. Don't act so blind. It's the way the future generation is raised that effects crime..... and an emotionally troubled kid is more likely to live in a cell than a well-raised one.

  • Of course having two good parents is good for kids.

Teens having sex isn't the problem. Kids having sex while the rest of us pretend that this is the problem is the problem.

In many countries, teens have just as much sex as American teens, but they don't get pregnant and they don't get sick. Maybe we should be finding out how they handle it.

  • Teenagers will, always have, and always will have sex, whether their the church their parents or their dog likes it or not.

I was a teenager once also, and the kids doing it the most were the ones who would look you in the eye and say they wouldn't do such a thing before marriage.

  • Well I have a boyfriend, I'm not having sex till marriage, and I'm not some animal that can't rise above instincts. And my boyfriend supports that. It's true that I'm not the best-looking person out there, but most teens AREN'T doing it, whether that is "because they're ugly" or because they're just not stupid.

I mean, there will always be teens that have sex, but most of them have an ounce of self-control and aren't.

Just because we're teens doesn't mean we're slaves to our hormones...

  • "I mean, there will always be teens that have sex, but most of them have an ounce of self-control and aren't."

Wow, you need to get out more. 85% of all Americans have had sex before age 20.

  • lilfixit1

I applaud your control. but 70% of high school students don't share the same ability. so most is probably defined as >50% and 70% is definitely more than 50...

Also, as for birth control, without it, women could not be doctors, lawyers, etc. otherwise they would have to abstain throughout 4 years of college, 4 years of medical school and 3 years of residency. Having a kid during medical training is crazy...
