IMHO, Superman is a piece of crap of a person in this show. I can understand why he might not feel obligated to help Superboy, but the fact that he finds so much as talking to him to be repulsive is revolting! If there's a reason for his behavior it better damn well be something more than "I'm afraid to invest my emotions because he/I could get hurt"
All the main DC superheroes (male & female) that have sidekicks are NOT the biological fathers/mothers to their protege's. But they are suppose to be like father/mother figures to them. But when you think about it, in actuality they are MORE like big brother/big sister figures to their sidekicks. I mean the adult heroes are barely old enough to be the adolescent heroes parents. Thats why personally, I have always seen them more as older siblings & younger siblings versus parents & children.

I don't care for how they have Superman handle the Superboy situation in Young Justice. In every other version I have heard about, read,or seen on tv,he usually takes Connor under his wing, and,in the ones where he doesn't,it's usually because he's dead already. Heck, in one version,where Connor dies,he mourns so badly that he buries him next to his wife,Lois Lane. Of course he's freaked out though, someone cloned him! Not to mention,in most versions,half of Superboy's DNA comes from Lex Luthor.

In fact, the only time he ever bonded with the boy is during that one day in the chamber, and that was because he knew only Gohan could beat Cell. Not to mention all the times he abandoned both Gohan and Goten for training.

He had 3 or 4 years of bonding time with Gohan prior to Raditz plus 4 years with Gohan, then the rest mostly spiraled out of his control due to certain events. He didn't bat an eyelash when he thought Gohan died because he was dead at the time too and could find Gohan easily in the afterlife, and after the whole Buu thing, he had 7 years spent bonding with Gohan and Goten.

You could say that he "abandoned" Gohan after the whole Cell ordeal by not wanting to come back to life, but his reasoning behind it made some degree of sense (Goku being around at the time = bad guys). The whole leaving his family behind to train Uub thing isn't a big deal either, as he can visit them any time he wants with his instant transmission move and all that.

I think Superman's made out to be needlessly douchy in the show. It's one of the only problems I have with Young Justice...at least it was initially when the show started. I think it would have been more fitting for Conner to be more unwilling to receive Supes' help like it was in the comics.

I don't care for how they have Superman handle the Superboy situation in Young Justice. In every other version I have heard about, read,or seen on tv,he usually takes Connor under his wing, and,in the ones where he doesn't,it's usually because he's dead already. Heck, in one version,where Connor dies,he mourns so badly that he buries him next to his wife,Lois Lane. Of course he's freaked out though, someone cloned him! Not to mention,in most versions,half of Superboy's DNA comes from Lex Luthor.

@TheMrgoku1985 Actually, Goku is a pretty shit dad, too. He never actually raised Gohan at all. In fact, the only time he ever bonded with the boy is during that one day in the chamber, and that was because he knew only Gohan could beat Cell. He didn't even bat an eyelash when he thought Gohan died 7 years later, and when he actually DID die, it was still an afterthought. Not to mention all the times he abandoned both Gohan and Goten for training.

@RachetRiolu If Raditz had never come to Earth, I'm pretty sure Goku would have been around. He had 3 or 4 years of bonding time with Gohan prior to Raditz plus 4 years with Gohan, then the rest mostly spiraled out of his control due to certain events. He didn't bat an eyelash when he thought Gohan died because he was dead at the time too and could find Gohan easily in the afterlife, and after the whole Buu thing, he had 7 years spent bonding with Gohan and Goten.

@RachetRiolu Also, he never really "abandoned" Gohan, he was always out of commission due to being dead or beat up. You could say that he "abandoned" Gohan after the whole Cell ordeal by not wanting to come back to life, but his reasoning behind it made some degree of sense (Goku being around at the time = bad guys). The whole leaving his family behind to train Uub thing isn't a big deal either, as he can visit them any time he wants with his instant transmission move and all that.

I think Superman's made out to be needlessly douchy in the show. It's one of the only problems I have with Young Justice...at least it was initially when the show started. I think it would have been more fitting for Conner to be more unwilling to receive Supes' help like it was in the comics.
Still it's a great show!

The "Man of Steel" can't even handle one. >.>' I wish the writers didn't treat YJ as a cheesy drama. Comic Superman didn't treat Conner like a son either, but treated him A LOT better than in the series.

If nothing else, it just goes to show that YJ 'toon is being faithful to comic-cannon. Even if Supes feels violated that someone took his DNA to create Kon, he should be taking it out on the scientists, NOT the other victim.
What an ass. At least Batman acknowledged his own test-tube baby with Talia irregardless of his misgivings of HOW that happened.
Treating Kon like a bastard (literal sense) is really one of the biggest reasons I consider him a dick.

Think about it, though...
A clone of Superman has been made without his consent.
His genetic material was taken without him knowing, and Superboy was made.
Superboy's very existence makes him feel violated.
And considering he's Superman... he's been safe for most of his life, this kinda shakes his sense of security, I think...

Superboy is a clone of an unwilling participant. So he is very st. smart, and kryptonians were naturally very intelligent. Superman is supposed to be a mild mannered reporter who is always kind. Ex. Supergirl, Bizarro, Superboy from he returned from death, the clone of Legion of Superheroes all were accepted by him and treated kindly. They just are trying to boost Batman's mythology.
