I am anxious about the potential of the availability of flying cars. I believe it will turn into another wealth trend and produce many millionaires & billionaires.
I wonder what percentage of the time a typical owner would spend flying to driving this vehicle? Also, would it be allowed to take off and land on a public road, or do you have to drive to a local airfield to take off?
the whole idea of a flying car, is that normal people with no flying experience what so ever can fly it at anytime without any restrictions like "Airports", good project though ;)
Price, driving/flying licence, take off and landing space makes it a very unappealing proposition.
Take London for example, I would love to be able to fly around it in one of these but the lack of space makes it impossible to take of or land pretty much anywhere. And if you plan to take or land on motorways other drivers would have to empty the adjoining lanes.
Not trying to be a downer, I live this kind of stuff but your plane seems a bit useless for most people.
@Ashitaka255 Same here. That's why I'm more of a fan of the Moller SkyCar by Moller International. It's a VTOL aircraft capable of taking off from your driveway then translating itself into forward flight up to 300 mph. Granted the project has had some downs, but of everything I've found so far, he has the best idea/prototype. ...in my opinion.
I don't know if this machine is a good idea or not, but flying in and out of London isn't an option for any single-engined aircraft, vertical T-O or not. I think that rule applies to pretty-much all of Europe - don't know about the U.S. So, if it does get the go-ahead from the U.K. C.A.A., it will have to be operated from an airfield of some description, and will most likely not be allowed into controlled airspace.
I love airplanes and flying cars since I was 7 years old I had a dream of flying cars and now there are flying cars I am so glad the FAA past the flying car too I love airplanes and I love flying cars sincerly Nadine Dambra
It would be nice if some of the controls (such as displays) could have a shader that drops down (Or if they pop up like the new navigation systems) so they are not a distraction while driving.
You need at LEAST 2000 feet of runway to take off in the dinkiest of airplanes... who's to say you couldn't land on a deserted highway 5 miles out from some small town, gas, and do it again? Granted, roads are not as well maintained as airstrips.
What people don't really notice is that this is a "roadable aircraft", not a flying car. It's an *aircraft* that can use roads. So you still have to be a certified pilot to be able to fly this. You still need to fly from one airport to another airport (no chance of taking off or landing on a road), and the pilot will have to abide by all aviation regulations when in the air. It's a reasonably priced aeroplane. But you have the wrong idea if you think you can avoid traffic jams by flying to work!
This is only the first step to flying cars but with the rate our technology advances, in a few years time i wouldnt be surprised if everyone had a real flying car
@tala12, you are so stupid!!! Just because the Transition drives like a car, does not mean it is intended to take off from the street. It must take off from an airport.
This is no advance craft! The craft look to ugly and how do expect peoples to take off in traffic jam?
This will create more accident above and on the ground. Think before you buy one. It's cost all most £130,000.00 to buy one. Slight accident on the craft then you had it. It more expensive to repair according to news paper. I can't afford one. But if I was a multimillionaire, I will not buy one. It simple as that.
@useemeat2007 This craft was not made for a multimillionaire. Its made for middle class specifically for people that love to fly and cannot afford a craft and shelter fees. Lastly, I hope you were joking about the taking off in traffic... Wow ignorance is bliss! hahahahaha
these is stupid, how is these thing suppose to take off in traffic, if cars are to close to one another, + you need a lot of space to take off, and to land. these is just a bunch of BS for BS people to buy!!!!
lo difícil va estar en que hay que cuidarlo al límite para poder volarlo todo el tiempo. evitar choques por ejemplo ya sea en carretera, tránsito o en el propio garaje. la más mínima pérdida aerodinámica perjudicaría el vuelo.
oh my got, this avion-car have WINDOWS XP . Aaargh¡ danger!!, think all , window blue screen and SPLASH!! crashes with the earth. And after you must ask to bill gates because avion-car had a blue screen window and avion-car crashes with the earth- JA jajaja
@samipower WRONG! you are mistaking it for the Moller Skycar. The instruments you see in the cockpit are "glass" panel flight instrumentation and GARMIN GPS
I don't think this is a way of the future. Reason, people can't even drive safely on the ground. How do you expect them the fly in the air. There will be so many accidents and deaths. Think about it. Drunk drivers on the road....Drunk drivers in the air. Yeah, right! I don't think so!!!!
what?! no cd/mp3/cassett/a-track player :O ! ? wasnt there a hover craft sorta flying car in design a while back that seemed a lot less bulkier than this?

Now they have to swim thru the bureaucratic red tape of DOT crash/impact tests and insurance company approval.
