  • The Cincinnati Reds were the best team of the 1970's. Baltimore was next followed by Oakland and Pittsburg. The Mets could not even crack the top 20.

By the way every team that wins it's league championship get's a trophy. And it's a very, very big trophy.

  • @TheWeaselSqueezer I totally agree with you... we should have beaten those overrated A's.

  • @MrFootfucker1 You're still crying about what happened to your birds more than 40years ago?! Lol

  • @ShamWasBetter I disagree. The only reason the Mets won the division in '73 is because it was a down year in the NL East. The Mets won the division that year with a mediocre record of 82-79. Every other year from 1970-1983, the Mets never finished higher than 3rd place & only won more than 83 games one time... 86-76 in 1976. They still were an above average team after the '69 World Series, but finishing in 3rd place or lower for 14 straight years shows they really had things fall perfect in '69.

  • @simplygu Don't forget, pal... they did manage to defeat the powerful Red machine.. who (in many ways) were considered the most talented in the National League that year.

  • @TheAssasin2525 Yeah, they beat the Reds. Kudos! But you still don't get a trophy for losing the World Series. Would they have even been in the playoffs if it weren't for a down year in the NL East? They won the division in '73 with an 82-79 record. There is no argument. Great, they won the NLCS to prove they were a good team in a short series because of their pitching, but they still lost the World Series. Should baseball start honoring the team that loses the World Series with a trophy?

  • i was at the 69 playoff at shea ran out on the field it was great.

  • @jodes015 I envy you, pal!

  • Fuckin' Birds should've won. Biggest fluke in sports history.

  • @Dietpepsivanilla THAT'S why they play the game, buddy!! Ha ha

  • clip @ 0:29 is from 1966/67, it's ken boyer scoring...

  • Can't they get the original videotape on this?

    The film looks like crap

    -like it's 100 years old.

  • The 69 LCS was unique because you had 3 teams in it that nobody expected to be there

  • @creepingdeath

Let's hope death steps up the pace in your case

  • Thanks for this video... to bad there isn't more footage on the 1969 NLCS . Let's go METS.

  • @sytunsen would'nt you like too see some of that series on "mets classics"?

  • lmao there is a mets historian?? i think there are way better subjects to be a historian on than a sucky team like the mets.
