cool video I just installed Linux Mint 3.0 1 Flux box on my I.B .M Net Vista. and I have both Kino and Open Movie Editor but I need fire wire to use Kino Would a Belkin u,s,b /fire wire external kit work
hmm i run a differnt kind of linix the one with the goldesh brown bar and orngesh brown background everything is easy but i can install java you know linux could you help me???
Uh, excuse me? I have a bachelors in IT networking and am also CompTIA A+ and Network+ certified. I work in the IT field in real life and make real money doing it. I'm not some douchebag in my parent's basement writing some free useless program with no support thinking I am going to change the face of computing forever.
well, I'm surprised that having that knowledge you give comment like that, I mean do you know how many lines of code has linux, or how much would it have cost without the support of all programmers in the world, it's free because of the support of everyone and it has support too, even important companies like nEnvidia got drivers and Opengl support for linux, it's more practical to develop in there, and the most powerful computer in the world the roadrunner runs in linux and not in windows
Uh, in case you haven't heard, windows can do the same cube thing now with a FREE program called DeskSpace. But don't let it get out because now you Linux fanboys will have nothing to hang over Windows user's heads.
Linux - FAIL. Like they say, I really don't care to build my own car either, is that so wrong?
um let me see... Windows copies of a feature of GNU/Linux desktops begin to appear years after it first appeared on umm GNU/Linux... and so Linux fails ?
That's quite an interesting perspective you have...
DeskSpace is not free. There is a trial version, but if you want the non-trial they expect you to pay them $ for a license. Its not free nor is it FREE as in freedom.
It doesn't have the features and plugins that the FREE Compiz Fusion has either (the cube is just one feature).
Very nice elegant desktop exactly what linux mint is :D i have mint too and nice Cube background blends almost seamlessley with the cube plugin on compiz A+
The background is a new Linux Mint wallpaper that I added to my compiz-Fusion Desktop. Mint has run Beryl, and compiz-Fusion "out-of-the-box for a while.
Mint has made all those cool 3D Desktop effects that much easier. I'm "old school", and remember compiling packages, then editing Xorg. Oh, Mint has all those audio / video codecs also!
is the spotlight in the background and background image or a compiz feature? i can see the lights have no effect on the cube itself so i assume it's an image.... but that's a good idea, we need to have a spotlight effect that actually shades the cube...

Freespire44,
I'm not sure about your question. Why don't you ask in the Linux Mint Forums?

tinymouse2,
You use the "CompizConfig Settings Manager". You'll have hours of fun with that!

Loki8901,
You have to be kidding right? If you can't run Synaptic or the other package manager I suggest you jump to the Forums where you got your distro.
Getting Java is easy.

There's a reason it's free. It sucks.

Question? How do you get the applications to appear as if floating above the cube when rotating?

How do you change the background of the 3D "cube"?
jose158888 4 years ago
jose158888,
If you are using Linux Mint or Ubuntu have you tried launching CompizConfig Settings Manager?
Then go to Desktop Cube.
I hope that this helps.

erniediaza,
Thanks - I run Linux, and Linux Mint.
Funny thing is I've never seen a negative comment about what we do with Linux. That is the Desktop.
Hey, what are those M$, MAC guys doing?
