@rellith Mass Effect 1 was a port. This one was launched at the same time wether in 360 (sorrry ps3 dudes, but i guess the wait was worth it) and pc. And it runs smooth because it uses the unreal engine 3, wich is quite performance friendly. And best of all... it is an amazing game.
A good method of thinking is you need 100X the cpu. For example a SNES is 3.58 MHz and a 350 mhz was good enough for emulation. So a ps3 at 3.2 GHz would be 320 Ghz. Now things do change and can, emulation is getting smarter
Porting is very Diffrent
Ps3 Has a whopping 8 cores that run at 3.2GHZ each
6 are for games
1 for security
one is not used.
3 times more powerful than XBOX360 witch has 3 cores
Can you imagine a PC that will emulate it well right now???
@rellith 100X the CPU is way to much, my PC can emulate Wii with only a i3 540 @ 3.07GHz. Wii CPU runs at around 700MHz if i remember correctly...so it would need a 70GHz CPU, wich it does not need. It's a matter of optimization.
@Mario0Dante very interesting u brought the wii up.. yes i know current PC's can run wii games emulated i myself have wii games on my pc aswell. it is mainly due to the fact that the wii architecture is somewhat very close to a pc.

@rellith
If that was true, there would exist a good xbox emulator. It doesnt exist still.
