Oh, I remember the pure joy and bliss I felt when, last year, at the 2 NW concerts I went to, they played Dead Boy's Poem. And I remember what an awesome job Anette did singing/interpreting this song! It was so beautiful! I love this song ♥ - hope they play it again on the next tour!

In my opinion, Nightwish died with Tarja's eviction (though I still think it was dying from Century Child to Once, the 3 first albums being the quintessence of the band :p). I saw them 4 times between 1999 and 2004, and I'm afraid I will never be able to understand that "Annette fits the band". Maybe it's too bad for me, but hey, "c'est la vie" !
yes...anette does it indeed quite good! But seriously, we cannot compare her to Tarja, she does it truly incredible, the beauty..cant describe it :O Her voice is so much better now! this was from 10 years ago, her voice is much stronger now. Anette has also grown.

I feel so lucky that I grew up with Nightwish, and that I saw them live during their golden era. I've stopped listening to their new stuff ever since Tarja left. Funnily enough, her voice in Once was not as mind-blowingly beautiful as their earlier albums. So maybe it was her time to leave, who knows... nothing as heart warming and pure as this is supposed to last forever. That's what makes it what it is.
I met Tuomas and Jukka a few weeks before it happened, and I could see it coming. They seemed torn and very troubled by it, but it seemed nothing I said would make them think otherwise. (Tuomas was in a bad shape, too...)

@HeartsEyes Go right ahead, and I want you to repost that letter to the fans too that blamed Tarja for everything going wrong when Tuomas was to blame. I find it funny that every member of Nightwish has been able to have their own side projects outside of Nightwish, except for Tarja. They used that to fire her, but now turn around and let Anette start making solo albums. So what happens when Anette becomes bigger than Tuomas/Nightwish? Wash, rinse, repeat.

It is from Sept. 2009 and he talks about July, so clearly July 2010. If Anette was already pregnant at that point, she wouldn't know that herself.

@PalemoonSun Because they weren't having to postpone or cancel entire tours to accomodate Tarot's schedule....don't get me wrong, I love Tarja but there are some things she did (or her management, I don't know) that make me sympathize with the guys in the band. That being said, I think there were mistakes made on both sides, to this day I don't agree with how Tuomas handled the whole firing thing (the open letter, the way it was written, etc.).
@PalemoonSun Keep in mind that Tarja stated that she wouldn't remain with Nightwish past the next album (would have been DPP). The guys wanted to end it on their own terms perhaps? There are lots of stories about why she was fired; it's really a he said/she said situation. Unless you're in the band, it's hard to come to a definite conclusion about what really went down. Speculation is fine, but remember that no one knows all the facts & each perspective will put a bias spin on the story.

And I don't know where you get the idea about "lots of stories about why she was fired", because I only know one story and that came directly from Tuomass' pen when he wrote that letter. Shall I list all of the lies in that letter? For example, they tried to paint her as being anti-America and to not tour the US. Yet, she's toured the US as a solo artist.

I guess I should phrase it differently to "slightly different versions of the same story"? And please, don't get me wrong, as I said in an earlier post, I dont agree with all that was written in the letter. Indeed, she performed 4 shows in the US since she began her solo career.

I think they should have gone with Vibeke. Look at Xandria, they chose Kerstin to replace Lisa, and people loved it. Look at Visions of Atlantis, choosing Melissa as their replacement, everyone loved it until she bailed on the band. Now we have Maxi Nil to cheer for.

This woman commanded the stage like a goddess. I could care less about the who's better and whose worse arguments... this woman put emotion, power, and soul into every single word ever written by this band. Long live the old Nightwish. (I got nothing against the new, it's still good...) but this woman, she was their angel. Hearing her sing any of these really touching pieces brings tears to my eyes.

Nightwish was never meant to be a Symphonic band, then, since the first album they changed their style... And once you're making music from you heart and not for money... You're no Comercial, no matter what kind of vocalist you have!

Listening to this song makes me wish I had had the opportunity to watch Nightwish perform live with Tarja. Took me some time to like her voice because I'm not to big on opera. She is definitely an amazingly talented woman whom I have much respect for. I just absolutely love this performance.
I miss Tarja too, but it's important to keep in mind that this song, including many other songs, were made for Tarja's voice. I think Anette is doing a good job and I'm happy that Nightwish actually still exists.

I respect everyone's opinion, but it's not ok when people offend Anette. Someone likes Tarja more? Ok, I love both of them, and even if I wouldn't like one of them, I wouldn't offend her ;)

@VanillaPink13 I love how you're one of the few people like me that welcomed Anette into Nightwish, instead of being one of those people who calls themselves a fan, but still hate on Anette and the band's decision to bring her into the band after 5 years. Come on people, FIVE YEARS. Anette has certainly proved that she belongs in the band; did you expect them to go with a singer that sounds like Tarja? If you did, you're stupid...I guarantee most people would've been even more upset with that.

The problem isn't Anette, the problem is Tuomas. Did you fall for his lies that the band was going AOR and would never play the old stuff again? And since you are being picky, I will too. Where do you get 5 years from? Anette only joined the band in May 2007, remember? It's only been 3 years and 1 album.

I mean, you seriously think they are going to drag Anette around on a plane the whole time she is pregnant in order to tour to support the album? @PalemoonSun Interview with Tuomas in 2009. He said they were going to take some time off after the monster tour, until 2010, would start rehearsing in 2010 and start recording only in 2011. That was before Anette was pregnant. Should I post links of that?

@HeartsEyes Go right ahead, and I want you to repost that letter to the fans too that blamed Tarja for everything going wrong when Tuomas was to blame. I find it funny that every member of Nightwish has been able to have their own side projects outside of Nightwish, except for Tarja. They used that to fire her, but now turn around and let Anette start making solo albums. So what happens when Anette becomes bigger than Tuomas/Nightwish? Wash, rinse, repeat.

It is from Sept. 2009 and he talks about July, so clearly July 2010. If Anette was already pregnant at that point, she wouldn't know that herself.
As for the letter, I don't think that crap needs to be reposted. It is easily available and too many people believe it too easily.

But why won't you post the interview of Anette in which she talks about the fact that the band is going ahead and finishing their stuff, and then after her pregnancy she'll come in and lay down the vocals. Why not just do it all at once? That's usually how bands work ya know.

@PalemoonSun Well, they didn't work like that with Tarja, either. And we were on about whether that is delaying the album, which it isn't.
As for Tarot, I personally give you that point, since I don't know that schedule but believe you that it was still in 2005, but I guess the band saw it the way that it was after the end of the Nightwish tour anyway, so not in conflict with that.

@PalemoonSun And as for the side projects of Tarja, I understood Tuomas the way that it was only 2005 when, according to him, the whole band agreed on not having side projects, and that Tarja, in his eyes, was the only one who did not stick to that agreement. (Please note I am not voicing my opinion here.)
Although, as far as Tarja describes the "communication" in the band (that is, the lack thereof), maybe that agreement was never communicated to her sufficiently, I could imagine.

They released an album right after Tarja was fired, he even toured with them. Why is it that Tuomas doesn't have a problem with Marco doing it, but has a problem with Tarja doing it?

@PalemoonSun Because they weren't having to postpone or cancel entire tours to accomodate Tarot's schedule....don't get me wrong, I love Tarja but there are some things she did (or her management, I don't know) that make me sympathize with the guys in the band. That being said, I think there were mistakes made on both sides, to this day I don't agree with how Tuomas handled the whole firing thing (the open letter, the way it was written, etc.).

@PalemoonSun Keep in mind that Tarja stated that she wouldn't remain with Nightwish past the next album (would have been DPP). The guys wanted to end it on their own terms perhaps? There are lots of stories about why she was fired; it's really a he said/she said situation. Unless you're in the band, it's hard to come to a definite conclusion about what really went down. Speculation is fine, but remember that no one knows all the facts & each perspective will put a bias spin on the story.

@blackVmetal And yet we know every single fact and detail about the situation because Tuomas wanted to reveal everything, did he not? And I don't know where you get the idea about "lots of stories about why she was fired", because I only know one story and that came directly from Tuomass' pen when he wrote that letter. Shall I list all of the lies in that letter? For example, they tried to paint her as being anti-America and to not tour the US. Yet, she's toured the US as a solo artist.

@PalemoonSun We know what he he claimed as facts and details from the open letter, just as on Tarja's site you find Marcelo's facts/details to counter the open letter. I guess I should phrase it differently to "slightly different versions of the same story"? And please, don't get me wrong, as I said in an earlier post, I dont agree with all that was written in the letter. Indeed, she performed 4 shows in the US since she began her solo career.

I think they should have gone with Vibeke. Look at Xandria, they chose Kerstin to replace Lisa, and people loved it. Look at Visions of Atlantis, choosing Melissa as their replacement, everyone loved it until she bailed on the band. Now we have Maxi Nil to cheer for.

And with the way in which he childishly handled the separation with Tarja, can you blame other singers for not wanting to be in a band that treats it's members the way it does? Who wants to be a hired gun that could be fired without warning at any time? And realize that Tarja wasn't the first to be fired for stupid reasons.

This woman commanded the stage like a goddess. I could care less about the who's better and whose worse arguments... this woman put emotion, power, and soul into every single word ever written by this band. Long live the old Nightwish. (I got nothing against the new, it's still good...) but this woman, she was their angel. Hearing her sing any of these really touching pieces brings tears to my eyes.

Listening to this song makes me wish I had had the opportunity to watch Nightwish perform live with Tarja. Took me some time to like her voice because I'm not to big on opera. She is definitely an amazingly talented woman whom I have much respect for. I just absolutely love this performance.

I miss Tarja too, but it's important to keep in mind that this song, including many other songs, were made for Tarja's voice. I think Anette is doing a good job and I'm happy that Nightwish actually still exists.
