@GAME4WAR the only cause for this crash was a mechanical failure. the rear trailing arm snapped and dug into the ground, causing the truck to turn sharply and roll. Sure, the people should not have been that close to the track, but how do you expect a race committee to regulate 200 miles of barriers? bottom line is that it shouldn't have happened either way, and pointing blame helps nothing.
@GAME4WAR The people at the off road races have been out in the sun all day and been downing beers none stop so their judgement is askew. Been out to some of the Baker to Vegas runs and they do the same thing at those races. I'll sit on top of my Motorhome back behind the crowd and watch in amazment at how close these people get, it's a big game to a lot of them. It's worse at the Baja races where the locals dig deep holes so the trucks crash and they usually hit people when they do. Not smart.

I've been to many offroad races and you dont see the race any better with dirt in your eyes. park off the course and watch from your vehicle. Also dont watch the race from the back side of a jump If the driver cant see you and you cant see the driver its not a good place to watch the race

sad tragedy. One kid was decapitated, he pushed 3 out of the way before being struck.

The sad thing is my friend Danica was one of the 8 people killed. She loved going to things like this and yes it wasn't the best decision to be that close and I seriously hope they do something to make sure this never happens again. But no one has the right to call these people stupid and dumb for going and enjoying something they loved. All of those people have families and loved ones. saying things like wanting to see the corpses, you people are insensitive. Go watch a horror movie not reality

wow... after seeing a racing truck lose control plowing into a crowd ppls run onto the track expecting the other trucks to what... do the proverbial "stop on a dime"?! yes this is a sad tragedy, but i'm sorry, this is part of the sport. you don't want to run the risk of getting hurt, don't participate and/or stand so stupidly close to the track! there is such thing as assumption of the risk. i can't believe there were even talks about charging the DRIVER with anything... it's racing, c'mon!

The video is shot by a fan who is not interested in making things look bad, yet it explains quite a bit about the race.
1. After the crash, the first thing the crowd does is run onto the track, in front of trucks driving as fast as possible (that's their job) over a dusty course.
2. "Doood, the driver's unconcious".
To call this an accident is quite a stretch. More like an inevitability.

And thanks P.O.D. for taking charge, checking on the victims, telling them to "stop this f'ing race right now," (LOL) and for being there to gather the team for head count, keep them calm, and see Mike off on the helicopter. the driver dosent deserve to be the"victum" these people at these races are drunk stupid and stuckup.my uncle races offroad and when i lived in cali(i recently moved)my uncle would invite my and my fam to watch the race from the pits so i have experience with the stupid fans.if some of these people had half a brain they would know not to stand so close.SCORE is usally the organizer of these races i think they should require a minimum 60 foot barrier around the most populated areas of the track.

There should steel walls and fences to protect idiots from doing such things. The accident was caused by a moron, but it killed 7 others, so I hate to see the public come here and actually make fun and curse at the video...Well I guess that's the way culture is today, we condole violence and death in our society...

@jamesrichardson63 theres no way to enforce the rules around a 50 mile course. People are not to get with in 80-100 feet of the course. you need to enforce the rules on your own. I've been to many offroad races and you dont see the race any better with dirt in your eyes. park off the course and watch from your vehicle. Also dont watch the race from the back side of a jump If the driver cant see you and you cant see the driver its not a good place to watch the race

in 2005 i hit a young boy that got pushed into my line by another boy.i got the bike stopped but the pipe burnt him on the arm. as the locals came around i thought i was in a big jam. they picked the bike up pointed it in the right direction and TOLD me to get back to racing. i'm sorry for the families for thier lose. but the crowd is at fault ! now they are going to finish this with a lawsuit. how close do you stand to a train when it goes buy? do you stand on the freeway?????
