My wife and I were staying in Grand Marais , this same day. It was an all day wind storm. power was out at the motel and at Sven and Olies. We drove to Canada the next day , many trees on Hwy 61 and Cascade State Park was closed. Still one of our favorite trips on the north Shore.
Nice catch. Those are some fairly big waves. I didn't know Minnesota had a Grand Marais. I know Michigan does. It's actually French for "Big Marsh." Right now, I'm waiting for the lake to freeze over some more, Particularly Whitefish Bay so I can do some video recording of the ice. A lot of people don't know that it's not the same sheet of ice every year. Every year is something different.
I believe the stack to the left of the lighthouse is the beacon on the campground side of the harbor, the video is taken between the coast guard building, and the trading post.
So what is that stack to the left of the lighthouse? That hasn't been there prior to this storm, and I was just in GM a couple of weeks ago. Looks like some kind of a stack from a ship or something.

You are seeing the West Break wall Light behind the main lighthouse.
