All these men don't get how important we are until there is barely enough females.Then WE get put in danger because people want to kidnap US when it isnt even our fault. The whole DOWRY thing is typical. No one wants to work but get money for free.Human Nature.

Proof that men are evil... they blame the WOMEN for giving them a female child when it's actually the MEN'S sperm that determines the gender of the offspring. They talk about how much better than women they think they are, then bitch and moan when there aren't enough women to marry. If they DO actually get married, they demand a fucking dowry. I'm an Indian American woman, and I have to agree that India and Indians in general are plain backwards in the treatment towards women. Even Indian Americans treat their wives like second class citizens. Disgusting.

@littlepakistan even in India, there was kanyashulkam, where men paid dowry to women. but what was the result? old men got to 'buy' young brides, women still suffered... the problem is male dominance (whether dowry, or beating wife, or acid throws), it can manifest in many ways. where men are preferred to women, this is bound to happen. in Egypt, due to men giving dowry, women end up in illegal orfy marriages, they still suffer. the link between marriage & money has to end.

@littlepakistan Everyone would probably be better off if dowry were eliminated all together. What gets me is it has been illegal in India for years but people continue to do it ..... What's needed is for a few folks to be hauled off to prison right in front of all their neighbors. That might convince people they really can make do without a dowry.

this dowry thing is difficult to tackle, because its self-perpatuating being an honour thing: The higher the family ranks the higher dowry is expected. I feel in middle class urban contexts people might go without dowry (Im not sure), but in rural areas there is mostly no way around dowry - and the cases I know its been so high that the girls families were left with debts they would pay off for decades
