Way back in 1979, Stephen King signed two books for me---very graciously, by the way. He and I were both smoking then, and there was not a long line of people waiting for autographs. Also, that was before he realized that he needed to be wary of the public and his so-called fans. That day, we discussed the casting of "The Shining," and he agreed that Jack Nicholson and Shelly Duvall were not the best choices for Jack and Wendy.
@Jaysbaseball24: Yes. King writes in what's known as vulgar English (as opposed to the pompous-ass formal English that so many of the "Literary Greats" write their books in), and that's what makes his books so appealing to the common man. No flowery ego-stroking bullshit--just straightforward stories written in a straightforward way.
@SpeCulaTionS101 Straight forward, but witty and clever. He has a keen ear for dialouge and a colorful descriptive use of words. At the same time his literature is appealing, satisfying, and most importantly entertaining. His narrative never rubs you the wrong way.
2 hours sheesh theres thousands of people that would wait 200 hours and I'm one of them

Today (appropriately) I bought his novel 11-22-63. The damned book weighs five pounds! It will be good, though...I know that.
