Thats some sick stuff! I love light painting, but your photos are way better than mine.. lol. I do make movies out of light paintings though. Its pretty fun, You should check it out. I'll be you'd be good at it.
I use various settings, and throughout me doing this I have used quite a few different cameras and lenses, from old film SLRs to current full frame gear. I usually use f8-f11, but sometimes I'll push it to either end of the scale depending on the look/effect etc I want. I keep a low ISO, usually between 50-200, but again, it depends what, where and how I'm shooting. Different places and situations demand different approaches.
What were your settings and what camera did you use? We've been doing it with a Canon Rebel (Not sure the exact model, it's my friends) setting the shutter speed low, and messing with the F-stops depending on the lighting outside. We also did it with my other friend's Canon and we were able to keep the shutter open with his remote until we were done.

I like it. Makes me want to try myself. It would be better if you set it to some ambient music though.
