I've been listening to this since i was 6 and i never made a connection until last year... but sub-consciously it stuck with me. 0.25 is the starting point and i think Elfman may have used Chopin's Ballade No. 1 for inspiration.. i could be wrong but the only difference between the two is that the extra voice Elfman had to play with was Sally's melodic line on top marking the end of the phrase/cadence with a vocal lead.
