hydrogen is more explosive than gasoline. therefore you get more bang for your buck. in fact it is the only fuel that can get the space shuttle into space. in my opinion all cars should be hydrogen. especially when hydrogen fuel cells were first produced in the early part of the century. just the big oil companys found oil first and its a way for republican assholes to make more money and kill us toboot.
even then, fuel cells are expensive to produce and are easily damaged. they're a worse idea than silicon based solar cells. (check out pigment based solar tech like konarka)
If you would like to take the time and effort to process the elec. from your roof into highly explosive hydrogen first, and then put that into your car, then that is your prerogative. As for me, I would rather save the effort and the loss of energy from the conversion process, and just place the elec. straight into the car as is.
well yes electric would be the best alternative but in most places it is not economical. in the northern states like north dakota it is very cold in the winter thus deminishing the capacity and life of the batteries. you would have to have a dual fuel here. but for lower states and warmer climates the batteries would get their best performance. its a win loose situation. we need alternatives because it is rediculious paying 4+ dollars a gallon for gasoline.
That is only until research improves battery technology making such problems moot. But that R&D research will not happen if we continue to cater to greedy and power hungry corporations like EXXON, OPEC. Who with their unlimited funds will stop at nothing to insure that their dominance continues.
i know, it is sickening. just like the gm, toyota, and honda electric cars. they had to distroy them all because the oil companies demanded it. it is amazing what this world has come to and the way it is ran. i hate politics, and i hate oil companies. it has made it so hard for ppl to live lately. gas here is 4.10 a gallon and we use ethinol in our gasoline, i can imagine what it would be without it. diesel is nearly 5.00 a gallon here as well. and food prices and other necessities are high
I agree, its best to use the electricity directly, the waste of converting to hydrogen and back is wasteful, better to use an efficient battery system.

it's bullshit because it takes energy to separate H from H2O, therefor H is not a source of energy but merely a storage medium.
unafiliated 3 years ago
true. but you can use hydro power or wind power to seperate H from 2O
