size means nothing. it's all on confidence and skill level. i haven't been on a horse that has intimidated me because i'm confident enough in my ability to stay on i've had horses all sizes buck. some smaller ones feel like i got whiplash after where as the larger horse looked bigger but was smooth like a jump. if she is comfortable and sure of herself on the horse there's no problem with her riding a large horse

well of course if your like 250 pounds on a shetland thats ridiculous but i'm 5'2", i ride a standardbred, quarterhorse and belgiums regularly and thoroughbreds on occasion my hight has no factor in my success in riding, and saying you can't ride a horse unless it fits you is ridiculous, many shorter people ride tall and/or thick horses, just because you wont or can't doesn't mean someone else can't

Yes your right, but still, you CAN outgrow a horse. Im not saying this in the fact that if your tall, you cant ride a pony, but you can get to big in the weight. Plu if your confident enough in your ability to stay on, your kindof bragging, some people never get back on because of those things, not saying ME. But you might make someone feel bad if there riding a pony because there afraid of falling and getting hurt.

no i'm not arguing a your weight vs. horse size/weight. my orriginal comment wasn't directed to offend anyone either my comment as above was more or less to people stating she was too small for the horse. she herself looked comfortable and sure of herself while riding, and that's what counts. if someone is a more comfortable with a pony for whatever reason, ride the pony, riding is mainly about having fun and not many people have fun when they are scared.

Size can matter 2 an extent. I ad a 16.2 or mayb 16.3hh Thoroughbred geldng & when he got on lush grass he started bucking & rearing & i lost all my confidence on hm. & he nvr stood 4 you 2 get on whch was wht was wrst czz he cud tke off on meh buckng as soon as i was n the saddle. The bigger the hrse nrmaly means the stronger (not as n carryng weight) & whn a big hrse bucks or sumthng et always feels a lot wrse if thy r biggr.

If hed been smallr i prob wudnt ave lost so mch cofnidence.

Yes but you need to know what you can handle before you buy a horse , but i had a little one years ago that did massive bucks and always had me off , and then when i got my 17.3hh she was the gentlest creature on the planet and i rode her round in a headcollar .

ok, i have a question...i JUST started jumping and ive been using my trainers horse and saddle..but, all i have is a western style brridle and a dressage sadlle, can i just use those until i get enough money to buy my own saddle? [my trainers horse is alot smaller than my horse and the saddle wont fit my horse] please respnd..thanks :]

you can subsitute a western bridle for english style riding... both bridles are based on the same principle. and you can jump in a dressage saddle... it's not comfortable, but it can be done lol

The saddle doesnt matter if it fits the horse, its if the saddle fits you. the bridal has to fit the horse though, along with the girth, but yes u can use western bridal and dressage saddle :]

If you stay into 2-point a second longer, it will look so much better and make your horses job so much easier. you are very lucky to have such a forgiving horse, count yourself lucky. not all horses would excuse your mistake.

I completely agree with this. Just stay in it a little longer and make sure you release and you have a soft back, I had a morgan when I was little that taught me that the hard way once we got up to novice level and now I have an Irish Thoroughbred that loves me for it, and he is a very cute horse!

And I admire "bestestriderever" for saying that in such a polite way, unlike many people on youtube comment on others' videos.

when you first get a new horse you dont want to rush it into taller jumps..u need time to get used to the new horse. that is what i have to do only it is the other way around..my new horse is green and i have been jumping way higher than i have 2 with him..
