The first solo from "Mustaine" is actually marty friedman, the holy wars solo is Mustaine though. One thing that makes Mustaine best is that he sings at the same time. Who else can do that and play megadeth riffs at the same time? Fuckin impossible.
@ironhide30000 Mustaine is so much better than hammett. He wrote almost half the first Metallica album,2 of the best songs on the album even before he was in the band. Mechanix is known as the first thrash song ever penned which, Metallica stole and put on their first album changing the lyrics. JITF was written before he joined the band and Ulrich and Hetfield changed up some of the lyrics. Mustaine has penned some of the greatest thrash songs ever written. He writes complete albums alone...
@ironhide30000 seriously what has Hammett done except come along and get credit for solos on Kill Em All that he couldnt even fully copy after he slid into mustaine's spot in Metallica. I mean Kirk has some decent solos but, he isn't even close to the creative force that Mustaine is. Lol, yeah right. Slayer doesn't have a lot of good solos period. Hell Awaits, South, and Seasons all have some decent solos, but outside that, I see nothing special in them. Jeff makes great riffs, yeah, but James is really the riff master within Metallica. I think Kirk has the most memorable solos out of the three though, stuff like Ride the Lightning's and The Unforgiven's solos never cease to amaze. Dave's up there too, but I think Marty's far better.
Don't get me wrong, I think it fits the music, and it's fun to play, I just don't think their composition skills are as good as Kirk or Dave's.
I think he's a decent rhythm guitarist, and a good soloist, but nothing he's done compares to some of Marty's work IMO. Such as possibly the best solo in the thrash metal genre, Tornado Of Souls...
tornado of souls has a great solo, and its one of the best megadeth solos ever, but im probably the only person who thinks its not their best solo, personally i think the solo from Tornado of Souls is a LITTLE BIT overrated, for example i like the last solo from Wake Up Dead a little better, and its Dave who does the solo
For the guitarists that are just in this video, I'd definitely say Dave Mustaine has it. But there are a few better guitarists from their bands that are better (mainly Marty Friedman, Chris Broderick, and Chris Poland... hell even Jeff Young). Don't get me wrong, Kirk is also pretty close to Dave but many of the other Megadeth guitarists have soooo much more skill.

I think yupisis is a Dave Mustaine fan because from the 9:14 min. playtime is Dave Mustaine 4:32 min. Kerry king is about 1:48 min and Kirk Hammett about 2;48 min.
the only reson i put jeff above kirk and kirk above dave is because i liked slayer the longest and i only recently started listing to megadeth and metallica is in between. i like all three bands though.
They're all good but i think kirk knows music theory best and before load he was a good lead player. Dave is good but he is repetative with his soloing and it most times repeats itself and hanneman is good but i think he's kinda sloppy in some areas and just aims to playing as fast as possible.
Dave is the best of three, because he is more well-rounded. Both his lead and rhythm skills are equally amazing. Jeff on the other hand is a fucking beast when it comes to rhythm playing, but not so much with lead (and I'm not saying his leads suck - they're pretty good - just not as good as Dave's). And Kirk..... well, he sucks at both lead and rhythm.

Considering that it's Wahmmet and Mustaine solos Jeff wins. Why? Mustaine usually uses some sort of pentatonic scale in his solos which theres nothing wrong with that unless of course that's ALL you do in your solos. As for Kirk, well why do you think I just called him Wahmmet? Self explanatory yes? Of course I'm talking lead wise.

I think Dave Mustaine is the best. His rhythm work is just off the chart. His lead work is secondary to whichever guitarist is lead in his band but still dominates hammett who is a very basic bluesy shredder. As for hannerman... Just really fast/

the solo at the beggining is by friedman not mustaine. but anyway, 1.Dave he sings, writes lyrics, and creates monster riffs. 2.Hanneman he writes complete songs and has some bad ass solos. 3. Kirk uses wah to cover up his mistakes and his solos all sound the same.
But people have to remember that Dave Mustaine's singing at the same time and with Megadeth he's not technically a lead guitar player so it's difficult to compare, Kirk Hammett during the ... And Justice For All period was amazing, but now he's gone downhill, alot !

I think yupisis is a Dave Mustaine fan because from the 9:14 min. playtime is Dave Mustaine 4:32 min. Kerry king is about 1:48 min and Kirk Hammett about 2;48 min.

They're all good but i think kirk knows music theory best and before load he was a good lead player. Dave is good but he is repetative with his soloing and it most times repeats itself and hanneman is good but i think he's kinda sloppy in some areas and just aims to playing as fast as possible.

Dave is the best of three, because he is more well-rounded. Both his lead and rhythm skills are equally amazing. Jeff on the other hand is a fucking beast when it comes to rhythm playing, but not so much with lead (and I'm not saying his leads suck - they're pretty good - just not as good as Dave's). And Kirk..... well, he sucks at both lead and rhythm.

Actually sweetheart I have seen these bands live. Just as a Rhythm guitar player Kerry King easily outshines Dave any day, Just try that little solo from NECROPHOBIC By Slayer. I have never heard anything like it and believe me sweetheart I have listened to thousands of different songs and have been to several live concerts. But never seen Guitar players like Kerry and Jeff. And you know what's scary about Kerry King? That at over 220 BPM He Makes It Look Too Fucking Easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT imo LIVE KK pwns Dave but on studio recordings, Dave's playing is usually more involved than Kerry's
But solo wise, they both have huge faults. Kerry has been known to make pretty random stuff, and Dave uses the same patterns over and over and over again.

second, i like all the guys involved; Hammett the least personality wise cuz hes a douchebag. Jeff's my favorite cuz his rhythm, lead, and writing skills are amazinggg! he could do slow solos if he wanted, but he doesnt like slow songs ha. Mustaines a guitar beast, great writing, rhythm, & solos, hes conceited, but its funny the way he does it hahah. and Hammett can play like hell, but again i say hes a douchebag :P oh! and too much wah some times.

How the hell is Kirk a douchebag? He's noted as being one of the nicest guys in the industry, just go watch one of his interviews. He's like the exact opposite of Mustaine.
BTW why did I get a -9 for my rankings. Mustaine is a better guitarist than Hanneman or King, but I like Slayer a bit more overall.

Considering that it's Wahmmet and Mustaine solos Jeff wins. Why? Mustaine usually uses some sort of pentatonic scale in his solos which theres nothing wrong with that unless of course that's ALL you do in your solos. As for Kirk, well why do you think I just called him Wahmmet? Self explanatory yes? Of course I'm talking lead wise.

I think Dave Mustaine is the best. His rhythm work is just off the chart. His lead work is secondary to whichever guitarist is lead in his band but still dominates hammett who is a very basic bluesy shredder. As for hannerman... Just really fast/

the solo at the beggining is by friedman not mustaine. but anyway, 1.Dave he sings, writes lyrics, and creates monster riffs. 2.Hanneman he writes complete songs and has some bad ass solos. 3. Kirk uses wah to cover up his mistakes and his solos all sound the same.

But people have to remember that Dave Mustaine's singing at the same time and with Megadeth he's not technically a lead guitar player so it's difficult to compare, Kirk Hammett during the ... And Justice For All period was amazing, but now he's gone downhill, alot !
