I heard Los Angeles was getting insane with the rent. I live in New York where there is absolutely no doubt the rents are insane. Maybe you should just slum it. Good luck with your search!
Hey! Lucy, move to New York; beatiful beaches, subways everywhere to and from, give it a try and hey, there is the TriBeca Studio owned by Robert Dinero.
i loved the improv at the end(up the creek), anyway have you thought of finding a differnt Job that pays more. But for all i know this video could just be a story someone sent you and i thought that when you broke down laughing at up the creek, you good lucy at your passion. P.s. A great flick is luck number sleven, you've seen it thought i bet
Hey, you'll find a way to make it work. I was just there over the memorial weekend and the rent signs I saw were indeed outrageous! I'm kind of in the same boat living on my own in SF, but you'll find a way to make it work. Don't give up :)
So this is what beautiful, well-adjusted, healthy people complain about until they eventually become wealthy. I know what up the creek means. LOL. It aint so pretty when your only friend is the face on a nugget of dookie.
there are tens of thousands of apartments in the la area. YOU ONLY NEED ONE> craigslist & sublet. When I lived in NYC and couldn't afford to commit to a lease ,I just kept subletting in areas I liked. Don't getted bummed, don't get attached to your place and keep subletting; you make more friends and know more neighborhoods!
Well, if that's happening, then it must mean that you're supposed to be somewhere else to meet someone or be somewhere that you normally wouldn't have been...I just found your adorable videos and can relate with my own years of struggles in LA/Nashville/Atlanta and now New York...whew! Negative people are in the world so that we can prove to ourselves that we have the strength to take the high road. They are tests and nothing more. Thanx!
hey lucy why dont you stay w/ ur friend careem h/e u spell it, for a few days till you find what your looking for?? hasn't he offered his place to you??i sure would if i were your friend
Craigslist. And Westside Rentals. You can find some crazy deals on there. I work for an apartment company and that's where I always refer people if they can't afford our prices.
oh I think gays need something else in life than money, namely - a handsome penis...if you know what I mean, that is if you can decipher my point.
ps. I'm slightly drunk right now so if I happen to say something obscene, let Little Luccia feel free to call me about it. And I shalt be one smooth talkaa day & night 'on my knees scoring points for the afterlife'
One of the things I like about this type of social software is the power of unpretentiousness. You make little (if any) effort to edit your stuff and that is incredibly refreshing - shows a real person behind the facade of LUCYinLA.
Life is tough, and fucking expensive. Before we are born, they should let us choose ' Are you sure you want this life...it's pretty expensive at the current rate ? ' . AnnieinAustin....? Naaaaaah.
That's because L.A. sucks. You should go back to Texas and make something of yourself there. Like I said before, you are better than the Hollywood crowd...
I'd hate to see you leave California, you're part of what makes this state so unique! This video was adorable, albeit sad. Craigslist, roommates if you can hack it, or live farther north slightly outside of the city. I'm sure you've thought about all of it but I thought I'd try to help you out anyway. Good luck!
Well.... there are other places to live in LA besides the West side (I assume that is where you are now). Studio City is nice. So is anything around Burbank. Of course if you want to be two-minutes away from the action I guess that is important too. Good luck with your search!
It sucks you don't have family out there to depend on. A friend of mine moved to El Segundo last year where she's been staying with her grandfather while looking for work in L.A. Though I get the feeling she too might want an apartment at some point.
hang in there, i hope you find something. the lack of affordable housing is something that should be addressed by our government...oh wait, they need billions to fight a war and rebuild somewhere else. nevermind. good luck!
I suppose, dredmunkey, you dont study urban planning or government much? There are vast controls in place to create affordable housing. Not just project tenements but requiring 10-20% of apartments in a complex to be at special rates.
Thoughtful political commentary is great. Knee-jerk liberalism hurts true liberals.
laughtasticx, not sure where you call home, but in the twin cities there are studies that show upwards of 46% of metro households are considered cost-burdened.
before you want to throw labels around like "knee jerk" you should know who you are talking to.
Geez, housing prices in LA sound pretty steep. I don't think it means you have to move back to Austin, but you won't be as ideally located as you are right now. Good luck! Look into the Paypal and cafepress options. They seem good to me. I'll even help you design a couple of tees just to get you started.
1 Focus on what you want re your new appartment, literally design it, picture it, write it all down in detail like you alreasdy have it. visit neighbourhoods (sic) that you like, Talk to people, put it out there... I mean.. you found the one you're already in, didn't you?
2 "Up the creek..." is the short way of saying "Up the creek without a paddle" so it means you're in a predicament!
Yeah, apartment hunting stinks. I've gotta do it now myself, but not in LA thank God. BTW, you are NOT fat. No reasonable would think so. I expect that you'll find a suitable apartment and that I will see you on the Tonight Show sometime.
Too bad you have to move. Greedy landlords are getting to be an epidemic! Is what they are doing legal? Maybe that's worth checking into. In any case, I hope things work out and you can stay because it seems like you really don't want to go back to Texas. Best of luck and keep trying.
I can't believe that they can just kick you out like that! it's one thing if they ask you to leave temporarily, but to move for months and then pay "hundreds" of dollars to get a new lease, that's ridiculous. a lot of people in L.A. have roomates...i know it's a lot of work but just interview some and use process of elimination to figure out which one you want to live with...
Definitely too much energy has to be spent on the maintenance of life, apartment hunting, grocery shopping, taking out the garbage etc., rather than life. At least that is how it is for moi.
OMG...what will become of self-indulged bitch!!! She wanted to let the whole world know that shes having a problem finding a home while she has 2 months? OMG the pain of someone who moved to LA to become rich. Your pain must be unbelievable!!! I see people everyday who die from malnutrition.. Your a maggot!!!!
Not everyone pursues their dreams to become rich. Instead of whining about the malnutrition you see around, why don't you get off your fat ass and help the ones suffering instead of sitting around on your computer?
So where did you get that I am fat from my comment? And believe me I wish I had time to sit around on my computer all day, my life is far from what you made it out to be in your mind. I just think its rediculous to see how people think they are so important, when they are one in a 6 billion.
Don't give up so quickly. L.A. protects children and fools (ok, i made that up ,) But I really would like to see some "Searching for a Roomie" videos. They surely will be hilarious! "Er...yes...this is my Gecko Stewart. Don't look him in eyes! He don't like that!"
I say "up the creek" all the time! Didn't think it was so weird when you said it, but when you started laughing you made me laugh too! Moving sucks! I live in LA also, and the rent is outrageous here! You are paying for the honor of living in "L.A." Know what I mean? Good luck, Lucy!
Freud would say u actually wanted to say:" up the crack"- but naturally u don't wanna say that & since that makes no sense anyway, brain instinctively goes for its closest
phonetic association & it quickly does it so to make it appear that what u r saying is more essential than it actually is ;)
i hope everything works out for you lucy, i rly do. and if anything im sure everything will happen for its best and everything will end up working out, i wish u the best. you seem like a great person. xox mitch-
Damn Lucy I know where your coming from. I'm paying 1045.00 per month for a one bedroom in Downey (about 15 miles SE from downtown LA). When I was living in Atlanta, Georgia I was only paying 515.00 per month lol.
I was going to say, with all your fans, you should setup a website with a pay pal link donation box and have everyone donate a dollar or more to your cause, I know I would..
Sounds like Austin is looking better and better! I don't do the room mate thing either. I've got a house that's an anchor around my neck but the thought of getting a boarder isn't so appealing!
lol! the saying is "up the creek without a paddle!" which means you have no control over the situation. the other saying is "you're up shit creek in a chicken wire canoe." the ending cracked me up!!!
It's stupid that they want to remodel the building, but make you pay more if you want to move back in. I bet if you had a long time left on your lease, they'd probably try to find some way to get rid of you too! They just want the extra money.
The remodeling probably consists of a paint job.....
Hopefully you find something good soon. I'm sure the roommate idea is an option, but you really don't want to find yourself living with a nut! Good luck!
Someplace safe in LA? Why I had AK-47's going off every 2 hours 24-7 on my block by the drive-by shooters for months on end. Just gotta invest in bullet-proof vests and never invite anyone over lest they get shot pulling into your parking lot. Safe in LA, bah humbug. Rents were $600 a month + electric in my area too, real nice neighborhood...er ghetto named Harlem.
Or you should be able to rent a nice room in a house in Brentwood or BH. Don't be shy; with your looks and personality I am sure you will find a landlord very happy to make you a tenant.
Go over to UCLA and check their boards for a roommate if you really have on friends who you can live with. That is how I found my place in W. LA and it took only a few hours.
Well Lucy....wish I could help you here more. But know that you're in my thoughts, and I hope everything goes well for you. And hey, even if you do have to go back to Austin, keep on acting.
I went to Austin (My older brother lives there) for the first time in February and loved the city!
Good luck with apartment searches, and hang in there darling.
I'm in the middle of movie too (due to a poor roommate) and I'm stressed too, so I feel you!! Good luck with everything. I've had to break my budget a bit, but I'd rather do that than have a roommate screw me over again. I hope you don't have to leave CA!
Lolll, when you laughed at yourself! You're adorable, Lucy. <3 Seriously though, you don't have to move all the way back to Texas. You can try to find something near your current area that's affordable and safe a little ways away. I think you should look around a little more. Just broaden your search a little.
Laura, get a roommate! Are you going to ditch your dream because you don't want to get a roommate? Check out some perimeter areas...Pasadena, Sierra Madre, places that are not in the core of L.A., but if you can do a little windshield time you can save on some rent....
If u do go back to Austin then you should just think "hey i got a valuable experience from all this and it was cool for a few years, but when u have to call it quits u have to call it quits. Either that or getting lucky and suddenly get the leading role in some dumb hollywood film and making it big, but hey u never know.
I just started to watch you and I'm sorry to hear you are going through that. You have confirmed that LA is expensive...NY is too (all of it...not just the city).
Oh, I see! Then if you're friends with your roomate you should be really glad, because then the two of you can help each other out! My sis, Sara, lives near there and she said that the most important thing about living in southern cali is having CONTACTS. Lots and lots of CONTACTS.

Sounds like Austin is looking better and better! I don't do the room mate thing either. I've got a house that's an anchor around my neck but the thought of getting a boarder isn't so appealing!
lambeausouth 4 years ago
The lighting in this video is gorgeous. The color
of your eyes stands out and they have a great sparkle.
Adorable as usual.

I heard the boring dispatcher was looking for room mates a while back

lol! the saying is "up the creek without a paddle!" which means you have no control over the situation. the other saying is "you're up shit creek in a chicken wire canoe." the ending cracked me up!!!

Even the cops go insane within 18 months of being in LA.
disasterpastor45 4 years ago

Rents were $600 a month + electric in my area too, real nice neighborhood...er ghetto named Harlem.
disasterpastor45 4 years ago
Or you should be able to rent a nice room in a house in Brentwood or BH. Don't be shy; with your looks and personality I am sure you will find a landlord very happy to make you a tenant.

Go over to UCLA and check their boards for a roommate if you really have on friends who you can live with. That is how I found my place in W. LA and it took only a few hours.
rdwo 4 years ago
Well Lucy....wish I could help you here more. But know that you're in my thoughts, and I hope everything goes well for you. And hey, even if you do have to go back to Austin, keep on acting.
I went to Austin (My older brother lives there) for the first time in February and loved the city!
Good luck with apartment searches, and hang in there darling.

they shouldn't do this! they should consult their tenants first. go to court for this!

i don't know why u want to stay in LA anyway. To make it as an actress you do not have to live there!

I'm in the middle of movie too (due to a poor roommate) and I'm stressed too, so I feel you!! Good luck with everything. I've had to break my budget a bit, but I'd rather do that than have a roommate screw me over again. I hope you don't have to leave CA!
brains4cubs 4 years ago
Lolll, when you laughed at yourself! You're adorable, Lucy. <3 Seriously though, you don't have to move all the way back to Texas. You can try to find something near your current area that's affordable and safe a little ways away. I think you should look around a little more. Just broaden your search a little.
I hope something works for you.

you can work on stage in local company in austin. like mom said.

How about renting a room from somebody? Not as desirable as having your own apartment, I know, but it's an option.
b1blancer1 4 years ago
So how're you able to live in a nice apartment all by yourself working one job in the first place? lol.
Move in with Karim, I guess.
BTW, was that your apartment or Karim's apartment in the blog where you kill him?
If it's yours then...WOW, I am extremely sorry you have to leave =(!

I don't live in an apt. by myself. But my current roommate can afford the additional rent, so she is staying.
LUCYinLA 4 years ago
Oh, I see! Then if you're friends with your roomate you should be really glad, because then the two of you can help each other out! My sis, Sara, lives near there and she said that the most important thing about living in southern cali is having CONTACTS. Lots and lots of CONTACTS.
