It's amazing to hear someone who is so well spoken and logical, clearly lay out the inconsistencies that I've always had about the Bible. I love your take on Christ and his teachings as opposed to the crazy, hypocritical scriptures that are found in the Old Testament. I've had these discussions with Christians for the last 30 yrs, until I was resigned to the fact that reason might well lose out to the fantasy based, Bible-babble. This episode was hilarious; just the visual image of Noah creating this massive possibly super-tanker size boat times 10 and then cramming all these animals on it, having to wait for the dingoes and platypuses to cross the ocean. It was just a really funny story when I really thought about it.

In the early period of human civilization (copper age), supposedly when these stories are written, the earth was still recovering from the last Ice Age, and new research has concluded that ice ages can end at a very short period of time which can create harmful results.

What im saying is that a flood is possible concerning the region. To the Inhabitants living in the middle east during that time the world only strench a few hundred miles around mesopotamia. Not to mention two large rivers (Euphrates and Tigerus) which have a long history of overflooding.

But what i do believe is that something dramatic must of happened ages ago that influenced these stories. Remember, the bible is not the only which tells of a story about a great flood. Stories such as the Epic of Gilgamesh tells the story of a flood that covered the middle east.

The physical dimensions for the ark define the surface area that animals could stand on as being less than two football fields. Could even a small zoo fit two of each species that it had onto a field that size? Also, that's only figuring for 10' high celings . . . what of the elephants and Giraffes that are taller than 10'? No, the Bible says that there were "two of every kind" (Gen 6:20) That means "only" two dogs, "only" two cats, "only" two horses, etc. This means that the "dingo" was a "kind" of dog and that "kind" of "dog," came after the flood. From those "two of every kind," came the wolves, coyote, fox, hyena and dingo. Over the thousands of years, canines have diversly bred many various "kinds."
