  • Q: Is there a law on the books that prevents the president of the United States from cutting John Yoo's balls off and shoving them down his throat?

JOHN YOO: I think you could make a strong argument that the president DOES have that power, IF .. the president thinks John Yoo is an asshole, AND .. if the president thinks it's in the best interests of the United States.

  • I am not saying I agree with John Yoo, but his opinion is actually based on a valid reading of the constitution—you would see that in his answers if idiots like this one would stop heckling and allow him to finish answering a question. When will these people—who, most of the time, have no knowledge of jurisprudence or the law—stop using simplistic assertions of the constitution to back up their own, emotionally influenced beliefs?

  • People fail to see that John Yoo isn't the only cunning one trying to avoid a direct answer. He avoided this question because the moron was asking for a YES or NO answer when there is no direct answer. He fails to see that laws don't govern every possible scenario in real life.

  • Why does anyone listen to this clown at all?

  • Good grief. What a farce. If you're asking him a question-and this is hardly a question as it's more a unilateral interrogation-at least give the man a chance to speak and justify his views. Any lawyer or law student knows that there are no prescribed "limits" particularly when it comes to appropriating international law, it ALWAYS depends. ALWAYS. Don't belittle your own constitution by making it black and white.

    -Liberal Canadian

  • @randyck I agree. The laws of warfare are so black and white only in the minds of nutcases like this guy. I could think of all kinds of potential threats that could develop where a nuclear weapon could be used on an American City or Canadian City. Even though the left right political spectrum is not of much use I can say the far far right ( Alex Jones etc) are nuts. I think Harper is a Socialist so that must be saying a great deal.

    -Conservative Canadian

  • @Eastsideweezy You're a capital C Conservative and you think Harper is a socialist? I'm intrigued. Can you explain how?

  • @randyck Ha it was tongue in cheek but he isn't a big C conservative (he may be in private but does not govern as one). Lets see though He supports single payer health care, he supports the CMHC interfering in the housing sector. He supports bank bail outs, huge subsidies for university education, bail outs of GM and the autoworkers unions. A huge Keynesian stimulus program in 2008. His support for bank bail outs in Europe right now etc etc

  • @Eastsideweezy Interesting interesting...how does your conservatism differ from his?

  • @randyck Well I would say more market forces less government involvement and subsidizing of companies and government institutions. There is a big difference between business and market forces. I don't think Harper or the Liberals understand that most center and center right Canadians do know the difference and are pro market and not pro business.

  • @Eastsideweezy What's the difference between freer markets and freer business practices, and are you sure that Harper doesn't endorse both?

  • @randyck Well pro business and pro free markets are not the same. In short business are opportunistic not capitalistic. Many business intrest are very happy with a complex tax code and regulation because it is a huge barrier for smaller firms. For example out of the top 50 companies in Sweeden all but one was created during the peroid of free markets and low taxes in that nation.

  • @Eastsideweezy I'll be honest, I don't think YouTube is a place to discuss economics. Not enough space here. I'm going to look into this though, I'm really intrigued. I'm not going to change my Liberal stance, but it's definitely something worth knowing.

  • I don't understand this hate of John Yoo. Is he not simply stating law?

  • @runawaymotor he wrote some of these laws for the bush administration

  • @runawaymotor I agree, a lot of knee-jerk reactionaries in that room. He remained calm, cool and collected and addressed the guys question.

  • this guys a loser as is every other one of the indoctrinated fools that trys to debate/protest/heckle him. john yoo is and always will be better versed on matters of constitutionality than you

  • You kicked Yoo's ass.

  • John Yoo's a fucking lunatic.

  • is it me or is it people in the goold ol' USA act exactly like the people whose firm belief in the bible prevented them from from realizing the earth wasn't, isn't and will not (unless some truly crazy astronomical events occur) circle the sun? I mean, come on, do you really believe that people living in the 18th century have any clue about what lives are like today? Good or bad, people need to adopt and adapt, as opposed to hold some ancient text as sacred, be it Bible or the Constitution

  • @eatfastnoodle Yeah things like freedom and liberty are outdated. In modern times, we need to live under a dictatorship and never question our overlords.

  • @eatfastnoodle The Constitution simply defines the role of government and acknowledges its main role is to protect our natural rights.. The Constitution is a tool to restrain tyrannical government.. This is a universal message..

  • He could have asked me. It seems obvious.

Leave the Constitution alone, and get the f*cking criminals that subvert it out of Washington. When that happens, we can worry about crap like the 14th amendment that created the UNITED STATES corporation, and made We the People debt collateral.

  • @bigc028282 How should a corporation be considered by law if it is not seen as a conglomerate of citizens?

  • There is no such thing as a stupid question...

  • There is no such thing as a stupid question...

  • Wow...people in these comments are really narrow minded. It was a simple yes or no question that could have been followed up by a few sentences. You people don't see that the asian man was giving us information that we already knew. He was avoiding the answer 100% and you idiots just follow right with him. Dropping a nuke within our territory has no involvement with NATO. If the president wanted to drop a nuke HE CAN. Commander in Chief. He can stop and commence any military action in seconds.

  • The person asking the questions is a COMPLETE MORON. It's impossible to legislate for every single possible war scenario. That is why the president is reserved the responsibility of using his judgment in deciding war strategy.

What kind of answer is the questioner looking for? You can't use nuclear bombs on the US or any other country unless war has been declared, severe causalities will ensue, not on any Jewish holiday, and it can't be cloudy outside?

  • @wesanchan The person answering the questions is a complete moron, once again he just dodged around them like he did numerous other times.

  • The unbelievable stupidity of liberals...

yes, if we had another Civil War type war inside the US, the president could fire missiles inside the country, wow!!!! In the US!!! imagine! Missiles, US!!!

"Is there a law saying you can't nuke US, Canadian or Iranian cities?"

Just how stupid is this imbecile? Yes, the No Iranian City Nuking Law HR 3782

Listen to the braindead sheep liberals in the background yucking it up like the questioner's doing so well.

    Yoo 100, Tard 0.

  • You are not a conservative, you are a neo-con.

  • @intheyearzero so you thought this stupidity was genius huh?

If there was a war inside the US, which thankfully looks doubtful, of course the president could fire missiles, guns, shells whatever inside the US. Anyone with a slight IQ can figure this out.

No president would rush into using a nuke anywhere, he would have the authority to do so, but of course would only be done in an extreme situation. I can't think of any situation where nuking a US city would be called for.

  • @RuflessRecords I did watch as Yoo got grilled.

Yoo aka retard -100, Questioner 100. He wins by 200 points =).

  • @IamCanadian3333 Is there a law saying Canadian troops can blow up villages in Afghanistan geehee geehee. Cuz they did and have in the process of fighting Taliban militants. I wonder if there's a law saying Canadians can blow up Afghani villages uhuhuhuhuh. Clever, clever liberals.

  • @RuflessRecords key words, "fighting Taliban militants." That's a huge difference than "blowing up" your own cities with civilians that have nothing to do with enemy combatants (Check Operation Northwood where it would give the CIA the ability to stage terrorist attacks against their own cities and blame it on enemies to start wars with them, thankfully JFK put a stop to that).

PS. I actually want us to withdraw from Afghan.

PPS. I'm actually a conservative, so nice try, idiot ;).

  • @IamCanadian3333 no you're not a conservative you're a Ron Paul "conservative" i.e. a flaming Marxist far left piece of trash on all foreign policy matters and a conspiraqueer to boot. Sadly your hero doesn't share your conspiratorial fantasies though.

Operation Northwoods was never implemented and proves absolute zero about any Muslim terror attacks. For Conspiracy Filth like you 1 +1 always = 10.

  • @RuflessRecords lol yes I'd like to think I'm a Ron Paul conservative (to a certain degree anyways), I consider that a complement that a neocon like you rejects me, in fact I consider that a badge of honour :D. And no where did I say 9/11 was an inside job.

You're right Northwoods was never implemented because JFK didn't let it happen which is a good thing.

Funny enough 1+1 does equal 10 if it's binary ;), but that's beside the point..

  • "War on terror" was a brilliant term, because US always have been and always will be under a threat of terrorism; thus, according to Yoo, the President has unlimited power to do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. The president can nuke a US city, if "necessarily."

  • Nice job. I found it ironic that Yoo brought up the Constitution and the framers to defend his arguments as the perversion of war powers is seemingly boundless. What is being done is not what the founders envisioned. It's tragic when the people running our government are so clueless as to it's fundamental intent and purpose.

  • He sounds like a left brain thinker rather than a right brain. All logic no emotion.

  • That was a stupid question.

  • Does anyone remember Waco? Regardless if you care or not MILITARY WEAPONS were used on US soil against American citizens that day. So, why be surprised if they nuke your backyard?

  • sorry but he was being reasonable...separating emotion from logic his answers were accurate...the question should have been phrased subjectively not objectively...such as "do you feel a president should shoot a drone" or "if the president has the power to do these things where does individual liberty meet wartime needs" or " how does the legislative process of declaring war by Congress affect the implementation of war and how it's waged, especially if it is subverted."

  • John Yoo, Fmr. Deputy Asst. Attorney General Office of Legal Council (01-13)

  • Gawd im dumb...I`m going to read up on this guy, I`ll be back with some sort of witty response....

  • John yoo who? Is he a president of a country?

  • .

I didn't know that I could grow up to be a lackey Lawyer who authors a memo from the DoJ of the USA granting to the President, the ability to order crimes of war against humanity. Imagine... Aspire it?

    Yoo did!

And of course, using the Liz theory of Cheney Lawyer Pheasant Hunting, everything my daddy is/was/has been involved in, IS good and demands that a constant defense be a vigilant defense.

    .

  • we already had one president wage war against the people of the united states. the united states became a ghost of what it once was after the civil war.

  • And the great lie of history will be that the means (here is the lie "freeing the slaves") justifies the ends. The means in this case is tyranny in the name of freedom.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

  • Military needs to get this regime out now!!!!!!!

  • @o1OpTiMuS1o

yea.. take out the wall street puppeteers

  • Yoo is insane. He would have done very well in a totalitarian regime. Hmm, maybe he was in one...

  • He sounds fairly sane compared to his memos regarding torture. That's where his insanity and lawlessness shows. Here he is simply arguing statutes and Constitutional limits on the commander-in-chief.

  • I thought Yoo kept his cool very well. I am saying it for you "ha ha" That cracked me up .

  • Yoo "kept his cool very well" because he has no human emotions.

  • The war on drugs could be a pretext. Unmanned drones with heat/light sensors looking for meth labs and grow houses?

  • Thank you sir! I wish more Americans would question these criminals

  • So if Americans have a nut job President and he orders all the nuke bombs released pronto because the Chinese want back their money--it is peachie AOK for Yoo-Yoo ;^/

What a dumb ass! To bad someone did not ask, evidence shows }sreal did the911 attacks and USS Liberty bombings--would the Presidunce be right to Nuke }sreal to the stone age?

  • @geo1671 i dont care either. fuck china.

  • thats fucking disgusting. good lob dude. keep it up! 5 stars

  • @moediggity28 Good job, not lob.

  • Thank you, David!
