  • a prime royce would have destroyed him

  • a prime royce would have destroyed him

  • a prime royce would have destroyed him

  • Heroes die, Royce will live forever as a legend... The steroids story about him is just like the steroids story about Lance Armstrong, nobody knows for sure. He was the best. Defeated the best and most brutal fighters at that time. Nothing else to add...

  • Royce tested positive for steroids after the fight. Hit "like" on this comment so everyone knows it.

  • looks like I dont know what the hell happend

  • both legends in there own ways

  • I would like to see bruce lee on the ring :(

  • @sking388 i whish he was alive cause i guarentee he would of been invloved in mma, he probably would of opened up one of the first mma based schools in the US. Jusy imagine if he would of taught Anderson, lyoto, fighting moves unlike that bs with segal. Brue Lee could really fight its a shame his life ended so early.

  • Big respect for Saku

  • that was indeed the least exciting fight i've seen

  • roids

  • Sakuraba let Roye win ...

  • looks like 109 gracies disliked this :)

    poor fuckers:'(

  • @momo200090 im a gracie

  • @Flambaeu So? I bet BJJ can still kick your ass..

  • Royce Gracie the biggest fighter of BJJ !! ... Check out the Hall of Fame and seek for Sakuraba, good luck .. Lol

  • @oscarhcam You noticed how this is an MMA fight, and not a BJJ hugging match?

  • @Blahb27 I think many people fail to realize that if you have not fallen in the BJJ gaurd, you dont HAVE to take the fight to the ground.

  • I feel asleep, what happened?

  • roycs fights like hes fighting off a rapist lol

  • he didn't completely destroy royce in the first match it was just boring clinch stuff for like 45 minutes

  • My god. This is the most boring fight i have ever watched. 6 year old kids fighting in school got more action than this.

  • Royce Pray-cie can't even stand up and fight like a man to man lol.

  • The guy in blue shorts is a pussy

  • Comment removed

  • Royce's biggest mistake in the first match was his Gi.

Royces biggest mistake in the second match was the steroids.

  • Royce's standup skills suck.

  • @MattM233 True!

  • Royce Gracie is a legend for being able to beat big scary looking dudes who had absolutely no grappling skills. Kazushi Sakuraba is a legend for being able to beat the most talented and schooled guys in the world no matter how big they were.. Saku completely destroying Royce is a prime example of the huge difference in competition between early UFC and PFC.

  • @zakquack im brazillian, but you're totally right!

  • @felipetavares92 Awesome, brother :-) I'm glad you're not offended by my take on the situation! Saku is the man. Perhaps now, the UFC has a higher level of competition than DREAM... but back in the day, UFC was basically bar-room brawlers vs Royce Gracie... and PRIDE was the best of the best.

  • @zakquack You guys (zakquack, Osalot) aren't talking nothing but bullshit. I bet you won't beat my grandma' on your best day. If Royce is a hooker, why don't you try to mount him? Shut the fuck up you envious bitches!!!!

  • @chepelulu your grandma's pretty tough tho...

I agree, my comment is a bit abrasive... Royce is a legend.

  • @zakquack Actually, this is completely false and i'm a Pride nuthugger.

  • @zakquack lol wanderlei destroyed sakuraba and a alot of other guys too dont compare him to royce gracie a prime royce would have beaten him to death

  • meh Saku dismantled all the Gracies in his prime. It took them till Saku was beaten up and battered and way past his prime for them to finally get a victory over him.

  • Royce Gracie tested positive for steroids after this fight. What a shame, he was so desperate to defeat the gracie hunter.

  • @hamidious He was found to have 7 times the normal amount of steriods that a norman human should have in their system. To date he has not collected his earnings from the fight.

  • Lame. Where is the submission?

  • @ces69jen Trying to submit Sakuraba is as good as impossible.

  • @meningzegger Yes, people might argue that Mayhem Miller and Yan Cabral could submit him but Sakuraba was very slow because his legs weren't working right. Miller also stunned him with a punch before getting the kata-gatame (arm triangle choke) so it wasn't a matter of Miller having better pure grappling skill. In Sak's fight with Yan Cabral you could see how limited poor Saku's movement was due to his legs. Sak would do good if he'd give himself proper time (and surgery) to heal.

  • @Furinkazan20 Yes Miller vs Sakuraba both the same age and no injuries could have turned out totaly different. Not saying that I think Miller is bad, he probably will beat Bisping saturday, but Sakuraba is a legend.

  • @meningzegger It's not even Kazushi Sakuraba's age which holds him back. Unfortunately many people are naive enough to think that being over 40 makes a fighter less than the younger ones. That isn't always true. It depends on the fighter. Some people age better than others. Some people whom I went to High School with who look, move and act like they're old enough to get social security and most of us are still in our 20s o_0 Saku looks great and is fine except for his knees.

  • @Furinkazan20 It depends on the fighter but of course, when you compare a 21 year old to a 41 year old, who's been doing this type of competition, chances are 1000 times bigger that the young guy didn't have so many injuries yet. The age matters, but only because of that. Most people around 40 have had injuries, that's the problem.

  • @meningzegger Exactly. It's not the the age per-se, it's how long the fighter has been in the game. Another thing to consider is what kind of fighters the person has faced. For example if an MMA fighter, like in Sak's case, has competed against a lot of strikers then there's a very good chance he will have more injuries than an MMA fighter who has mostly faced grapplers. Saku has absorbed a lot of leg kicks and has competed in Pro Wrestling where knee injuries are constant.

  • Is that Scott Coker in the audience 7:08 - 7:20?

  • @mohammad8889 yes he was k1 promoter in USA

  • omg why sekuraba is taking all this kicks from downed gracie at the start?

  • @AmigoCarlitoo because they dont hurt him at all, grace doesnt have too much space to give acceleration to the kick.

  • Royce Gracie is the man, but c'mon, Saku is like a Japanese Rickson, fights just like him.

  • fuck you gracie cheated he was on steroids thats disrespect to sakubara, gracie knew he was going to lose the rematch thats y he took steroids like a little bich

  • gracie is alitle bitch 6'2 180 really fuken wenie hardley won by k-o"s

  • BJJ is a waste of time, only meant for cages which is why royce was sucking dick in this match against an actual opponent (non scrub)

  • @Mackiefood you clearly have no idea what your talking about first off Sakuraba is as much of a legend as gracie second you have no idea what grappling really considering gracie did many transitions and submission attempts in this round that would work on someon who wasn't a high level grappler, and the reason why royce is have so much trouble is because he manly focused on grappling period and has very poor striking plus u can tell he doesn't do anyweight lifting.

  • @Mackiefood Wrestling is not dominating the sport at all haha, to say that is so novice....... Wrestlers have just discovered that if the combine BJJ & Wrestling they will be twice as dangerous on the ground, actually be able to pass guard, and advance position without getting submitted or sweped. Example Cain,Fitch,Shields,Hendo,GSP,Penn,Phill davis,Faber,Mendes,Randy,Jones, and yes even Bork lesner train BJJ . AT THE END OF THE DAY U NEED THE 2.

  • @TheDarceChoke Depends on the kind of wrestling bro. Catch Wrestling's been around centuries longer than GJJ/BJJ and it's derived from Pankratian (Acient Greek Wrestling). Plenty of finishing skill there. Obviously look at Sakuraba here. He's a Catch Wrestler trained by Billy Robinson who subbed Renzo Gracie, Royler Gracie, forced Royce to quit in their first fight, Rampage, Funaki, Newton,Silviera and many others and was the most dominant fighter in the world in his prime.

  • @panther2552 I know all this dog. I respect catch wrestlers cuz it ''DID'' help BJJ get to where it is today, BTW i train wrestling along with BJJ :) there is also a few catch wrestlers at my BJJ camp.

what i don't like is a wrestler who uses BJJ to win, then they credit there wrestling and don't even mention BJJ. Then all the fans are like wrestling ftw even though the fighter used BJJ techniques to win lol. Get my drift?

  • @snackster27 I'll bet you could, too.

  • Roid Gracie in action! <3

  • Sakuraba really won this fight. Sakuraba had more blows to connect and his blows did more damage and Gracie couldn't do anything with him on the ground. Gracie tried to cheat with steroids as well.

  • 1 Royler Gracie + 1 Royce Gracie + 1 Renzo Gracie + 1 Ryan Gracie = 1 Kazushi Sakuraba

    :)

    =)

    ;)

    :P

    ^^

  • BJJ simply ruins combat sports, shame on Gracie for spending half the time squirming on the ground like a worm...

  • @avrilinblood FUCK YOU!!!

  • @MrHashishish420 now that is what I call a valid and logically sound argument :D

  • @MrHashishish420 BJJ is perfect for homos who want to rape other dudes, that's for sure!

  • @avrilinblood wrong bjj perfects combat sports and u wouldnt last a second against any of them

  • @BlackLabelForLife bjj is a pathetic way to squeeze out a win in between the rules of k1, it has close to zero value on the street, and actual fighting abilities of bjj practitioners are laughably weak

  • @avrilinblood that is so true

  • @avrilinblood It has close to zero value on the street? Dude the Gracies made Gracie jiu-jitsu that is specialized for real world situations. You obviously don't know jack shit and are there-fore a hater.

  • mal tem socos

  • is that a fight???hahahahaha!!he was lye down on the fllor ALL the time!!!bullshits....

  • for a big man royce goes down so easily but on the ground is where he's good at ..haha

  • @Jason66601 that's japan for you...

  • Royce Gracie testou positivo para esteróides anabolizantes após a luta.

  • Brasil the best!

  • @retaoposta steroids for all brasil !!!!!!!!

  • like most gracies boring as fuck.... Laying on their back like a hooker lmao.... I cant believe gracie asked for 1 million to fight in ufc brazil, he is definitely on drugs

  • @0salot i would expect less from a gracie

  • @0salot LMFAO Bjj is so gay

  • @0salot kick that dog i say, that old dog with no new butt scoot hooker tricks to do on his back. i luv seeing gracies an there one dimensional attack get exploited.

  • @MrBladeCrash i payed 39€ x 4 per month in germany for Alliance BJJ training (fabio gurgel)

For Gracie you pax min. 50%+ cause of the name...

  • @PriusRider sorry not just for the name. There's a major difference between training at a BJJ dojo and Training at a Gracie Academy. There's a reason only one man (Sakuraba) has ever truelly submitted a Gracie in MMA. They truelly are the best intructors of GJJ/BJJ. There are very few schools that are comparable for that style of fighting Blackhouse for one run by the Nog brothers. Though personally i'd rather train in Catch Wrestling at Laughter 7 with Saku.

  • @panther2552 i know more than one of them lost royler even lost to eddie bravo

  • @l3054 that's why i mentioned in MMA. royler lost to Eddie in a bjj tourny. 3 years after Saku subbed him.

  • @panther2552 i was stoned when i replied and i didnt see that

  • @MrBladeCrash funny thing is Kimura learned the double wristlock roll through submission from Karl Gotch a Catch as Catch Can wrestler who trained with Billy Robinson, Sakuraba's teacher.

  • WHOA, who let the zombie in there? check out 3:44.

  • @radseven89 that's Royce's 80 something year old father Helio. the innovator of Gracie/Brazillian Jiu Jitsu

  • @radseven89 that zombie you say there is Hélio Gracie...Father of Royce Gracie and founder of BJJ and was defeated by Masahiko Kimura famously in the early 1950s by using the well known move called the "Kimura" lock named after him...Sakuraba or Japan had a feud with Brazil for years before the Pride FC days and Sakuraba prepared himself well to take down the Gracie empire

  • shit on gracie jiu jitsu. They only wonna make money...

    Sakuraba even defeted Royler.

I give a shit on there EXPENSIVE training. You can get the same cheeper with no gracie logo in front of the school...

  • @PriusRider how much cost training in gracie accademy?

  • @zblempt so nice to see ppls cant youse google <.<

    $160.00 x8 per month - gracieacademy

  • @PriusRider 160$ for 8 tranings? this is crazy!!! im happy for our local prizes...50$ for a half year and i can go to training every day...

  • What I find interesting about SAKURABA vs GRACIE family is that it was personal. It was like ma WAR and neither side was playing around. They really did everything they could to shame, wreck and ruin the other. Damn.

  • @cyberhmoob dunno where ya get that from. outside of Royce i mean with the roids. Renzo, Ryan, and even Royler were all very respectful and specially in Renzo's case still are extremely respectful of Saku (to this day the only picture hanging on his school walls is a pic of he and Saku shaking hands). Saku aswell has shown nothing but respect to the Gracies at all times. They all fought their hearts out, but that's to be expected from great fighters.

  • was sakuraba a mma fighter or wrestler when fighting gracie?

  • @alan513 not sure i understand what ya mean. by this point he was done with pro wrestling, but his fighting base in MMA was Catch as Can Catch Wrestling.

  • @alan513 mma

  • Isn't his name "Royler Gracie" ?

    Anyway, GJ Sakuraba ;P

  • @qpwerosfhaiu No Royler gracie is one of the million Gracies that have conquered the world. Rest assured, they are different people, but one thing is similar for certain. They get paid LOTS OF MONEY just to show up for a fight! :D

  • @qpwerosfhaiu This is Royce Gracie, though Sakuraba beat Royler aswell.

  • Comment removed

  • Japan Rulez! Brasil Sucks!!

  • @Mrjustinqqq well he was the first notable and famous fighter to show everyone the effectiveness of ground fighting. BJJ also is the foundation of many champions that would beat sakuraba any day.....

  • @kenpomast To this day Sakuraba has only been subbed once by a BJJ practitioner and that's Jason Miller who also trained in Catch Wrestling (Sakuraba's style of submission grappling, which is centuries older than BJJ). Sakuraba is 8-3-1 against Gracie trained fighters with two of those losses coming to much younger fighters while he was 41 years old. In his prime he's 6-0 against em with victories over Royce, Royler, Renzo and Ryan Gracie.

  • @Mrjustinqqq Royce Gracie was the one that started mma, so I respect them. He taught everyone the importance of a ground game and using techniques that truly work. Lets also mention that every elite fighter or most of them train or trained in bjj before becoming a mixed martial artist. Therefore, the reason why bjj is less powerful on mma is due to mostly everyone learning the bjj strategy and techniques.

  • Royce Gracie was the one that started mma, so I respect them. He taught everyone the importance of a ground game and using techniques that truly work. For that he will always have my respect

  • Royce Gracie was the one that started mma, so I respect them. He taught everyone the importance of a ground game and using techniques that truly work. For that he will always have my respect.

  • Haha, what the hell is up with Sakuraba at the beginning of the fight? Gracie is on the ground for like two minutes and punishing Sakuraba with his kicks...

  • I was here at this stadium...=D

    Great job Royce.

  • When Mark Hatmakers videos hit the grappling world! The Gracies started losing and losing!

  • Its a shame Gracie will always be remembered as a cheat. I think the ass whooping he took at the hands of Hughes really screwed him up. Its not that he got any worse as a fighter but the game moved on and left him behind.

  • @spazo567 i would think it has more to do with the ass whoopin he took from Sakuraba in their first fight and the whoopin Saku put on Royler, Renzo and Ryan aswell as all the Gracie Students he fought that really screwed him up. a near ten year younger Hughes isn't such a big deal.

  • zzzzzzzzsmoking

  • boring

  • The back spins stop at 3:12

  • Graice spends alot of time on his back, why bother.

    Give it up man!

  • @steeeeker i wouldn't say more technical or effective bro. it all depends on the man using it. GJJ is most prominant in the west of course, the Americas, but go overseas and you'll see lots of Catch, Judo and Sambo fighters. It all depends on how the man using it executes it.

  • @steeeeker I answered your question, retard. Yes, I train. Have been training for over 20 years and teaching for almost half of that. I teach traditional judo, complete with atemi-waza and brutally efficient newaza. When my students go to ground, it's not to play roly-poly. Without the mat to protect you on the street, that judoka would have killed you with the head slam. That was a victory for him, not you. When you see that, you'll see the weakness of so-called BJJ (it's newaza).

  • @steeeeker Kosen Judokas have more technical ground game than BJJ'ers. You don't see BJJ'ers rushing to enter Kosen Tournaments, do you? They've been newaza specialists since before the gracies even started their lies about so-called gracie "jiu-jitsu". What I'm saying is that there is no such thing as gracie jiu-jitsu -- only newaza-focused judo. The gracies repackaged what Maeda taught them without any significant contributions. It's a lie.

  • @steeeeker You've never seen a Kosen Judo Tournament, have you?

  • @steeeeker Been a judoka for 20 years now, taught traditional Judo for almost half of that. Newaza is newaza, you can call it "gracie jiu-jitsu", but doesn't change the fact that all it is is Newaza-focused Judo, the same as Kosen judokas practice. Why don't you look them up and watch them pull opponents to the ground into their guard. It's no different than what the gracies do but Kosen judokas don't dishonor Kano by calling their style Kosen Jiu-Jitsu, do they?

  • @lolzkaful no, i'm saying banned substances are bad. Going into a fight the fighters know the rules. Royce in this case chose to break those rules. As for natural not being right, that's the only thing that is right. everyone is born with diff strengths and weaknesses. It's up to the individual whether they want to work hard enough or learn enough to minimalize their weaknesses. aslong as it's in the framework of the rules of their chosen field.

  • @panther2552 Cool, I actually agree with what your post generally says. My disagreement isn't so much with your particular response there, but with the sport for banning SOME substances in the first place - I really don't see the point.

  • @steeeeker depends on the kind of wrestling you're talking about. GJJ isn't the only submission grappling art out there. Sakuraba here the "GRACIE HUNTER" is a Catch as can catch wrestler" A form of submission wrestling far older than GJJ. It's derived from Pancration the old Greek wrestling martial art. Of course there's also Sambo which obviously Fedor has used to dominate for 10 years or so. GJJ is great, but hardly the only sub art that can be used in MMA.

  • @steeeeker Yes, I watched that fight. It wasn't BJJ -- it was judo newaza and wrestling (Matt's primary discipline). Matt smothed Royce from the top (textbook wrestling), locked in a ude garami (judo), took Royce's back by attempting a hadaka jime (judo), and then finished Royce with multiple unanswered punches to the head (atemi waza). You can call a chair a car, but you still can't drive it down the freeway, princess. There is no BJJ, only newaza-focused judo.

  • What a fucken cheater Royce is. Steroids loser.

  • @RayKalmNiam I don't really see why a steroidal advantage is viewed as bad, and a genetic advantage as good/neutral. Ultimately they result in the same thing.

  • @lolzkaful It's bad cause they're using drugs.

  • @RayKalmNiam Yes that's the part I'm talking about, what's bad about it?

  • @lolzkaful Drugs give Gracie an unfair advantage.

  • @lolzkaful steroids not only add to strength, but also speed and reaction time all of which are advantages.not to mention the facts that previous to this fight Royce detested steroid use and that using them is illegal in the sport.

  • Comment removed

  • @steeeeker Ever heard of Matt Hughes? Didn't he humiliate SteROID Gracie? Haha

  • @steeeeker I might take you more seriously if you learned how to spell GSP's name correctly or if you could communicate in full sentences, princess.

  • @steeeeker Not what I wrote, dummy. Did you fail your reading comp classes or what? When people talk about GSP's fighting, it's always about his Olympic-caliber wrestling, not his BJJ anymore.

  • @steeeeker GSP isn't a champion because of BJJ, but because of his Olympic-caliber wrestling. He didn't beat 4-time NCAA Div. 1 wrestling All American Josh Koscheck with BJJ, but with wrestling and boxing.

  • BJJ suckz. It was just some fad that no one had ever seen before. Now that everyone knows about "ground fighting" the gracie's get their asses handed to them by anyone bigger than they are haha

  • thats sad.. never liked the gracies. if they contributed to the creation or even just expansion of bjj, they would be worthwhile. but all they did was learn a useful style, that happened to stump most others. these gracies just mastered crawling and never bothered to learn how to walk or run

  • @DistrbdWon how dare you! What have you done? I am a Judoka, 40 years of Judo, and I personally know a few of the Gracies, they have made great contribution to MMA and no one can take that from them. They focused on combat Judo taught to them by Meada a Judoka. They have bought newaza ( Katamewaza) up to a new level. Give respect where respect is due. Realize they showed the world even in your own words you said so.

  • @DistrbdWon how dare you! What have you done? I am a Judoka, 40 years of Judo, and I personally know a few of the Gracies, they have made great contribution to MMA and no one can take that from them. They focused on combat Judo taught to them by Mitsuyo Maeda a Judoka. They have bought newaza ( Katamewaza) up to a new level. Give respect where respect is due. Realize they showed the world even in your own words you said so.

  • @lallope judo is a sport not a martial art. Your obviously a loser if you've spent 40 years doing nothing

  • @ThisReallySuckz Traditional Judo is a martial art, complete with strikes, blocks, and techniques illegal in competion. Olympic Judo is a sport. Seems you don't know the difference.

  • @DistrbdWon haha true the only reason they won any matches was because no one knew what this gay looking fighting style was. Notice how now that everyone knows what jujitsu is they get their asses handed to them left and right.

  • @DistrbdWon I still wonder why the gracie never enter Kosen Judo tournaments. I'm thinking those newaza specialists would destroy the gracie myth of groundfighting mastery.

  • @easyempire I've been watching since the first UFC. also Pride since the first time it was broadcast in the states Pride 2000 GP. I watch all MMA be it UFC, old Pride, Dream, Strikeforce, Belator etc... MMA was around before the Gracie's started the UFC. It's called Pancrase. Royce showed that grappling is a very important fighting art. that was the his big contribution to the sport. Sakuraba showed the need to be a complete fighter. He also showed there are other grappling arts asside from gjj

  • @easyempire

I can't claim that Sakuraba has had as big of an impact on MMA as the Gracie family, but you can't just dismiss what a great fighter this guy is. He beat 4 Gracies, Randleman, Mezger, Shamrock, Vitor Belfort, Carlos Newton, and Funaki. The guy is a fucking legend...

  • Shooto and Pancrase had a huge impact on the creation of MMA. Royce Gracie and the Gracie family had a huge and sport-defining impact on the creation and development of MMA.

Sakuraba is the best Japanese fighter ever, but his most significant contributions are a.) Proving that Japanese fighters can beat some of the best big MMA fighters in the world. 2.) Proving that the Gracie's system could be beaten. Significant but not nearly as important to MMA overall.

  • @easyempire his levels were at 50 times the normal amount for a top athlete. that's more than peaking, it's his and his dr's job to know. he tested positive on two separate samples. Royce and his family did alot for the sport there's no doubt, but the guy he's fighting here had just as much importance for MMA as Royce did. Royce showed what the ground game could do and Sakuraba showed that being a complete fighter is more important. both are credited for being the inspiration by many figthers.

  • selling sKURABA E BOOK. LOOK AT MY PROFILE FOR DETAILS

  • I think this fight shows that he was positive in steroids, you can tell because his breathing isn't as calm as you would notice in other fights.

  • Gracie tested positive for anabolic steroids after this match

  • Sakuraba.....Samuray!!!!!!!!!

  • Fixed bout Sakuraba can kick Royce Gracie's ass anytime anyplace even if Royce wants to use 'roids !!

  • God I hated Gracie! He was such a piece of shit breaking peoples arms and shit well after several taps and never once got DQ'd for it...complete scum bag sportsmanship!

  • Gracie tested positive for steroids after this...

  • @SpatialMonk YEA AND THEY CALL THEMSELF MASTER OR MARTIAL ART ARTIST. That's just too bad sakuraba didn't open his school coz he is the REAL master

  • @nadhim69 Sakuraba opened a school about a year and a half ago called laughter 7. right now it seems his prized student is Takenori Sato who is the current welterweight King of Pancrase.

  • @SpatialMonk really?!?!

  • I remember being in the crowd and at about 4:15 saying out loud, "Boy, this looks familiar." To which everyone in the vicinity agreed to.

  • did any one see sakuraba get his ear half way ripped off in his last fight? that was BRUTAL
