@Gibson299 The car still has the 350 Rocket engine, the same one demonstrated in this movie. I have never opened it up fully, but on a private road not very long ago did have it up to 115 MPH (quickly!) according to the GPS. I figure another 5 to 10 MPH could be had out of the engine.
My dad had one pretty identical to this one as far as I can remember. Great car, nice to see someone care for these old beauties. Thanx for posting this vid.
@GTM57 You are welcome. Thanks for the words, it is an ongoing project. I am glad this car has brought back memories for you. Most everywhere we stop with this car, be it at a service station, country store along our travel routes, or even at stoplights, people will always speak of their memories with a car like this. It seems these Vista Cruisers touched many lives.
Thanks very much. What ever happened to the once proud industry? I wonder if we will ever see cars like this and other interesting offerings ever to be made again, at a price the average working person can afford.
Hey Jack! No, I did not have to do anything except shim up the support plate against the frame a little, and I still have to adjust the pointer as can be seen. Quite hassle free all in all!
The transmission was set up for different gears in the differential, partially the reason. I did correct the speedometer gear whilst the transmission was apart, but the governor still needs attention as I mentioned.
It was painted, the top black as you can see, thee tan was painted on too, such as the bottom of the dash, the steering column, and the steering wheel. Thanks very much, bit by bit, coming along!
how fast is this thing currently going and what engine?

I love the sound of an Olds motor. When I was very young, the neighbors 60's era Olds always scared me because it didn't sound like my dad's Chevy!

I could always tell and Oldsmobile coming, they always had/have a distinct rumble to them.

Very nice! Did you have to do anything to the transmission quadrant with the 4 speed? :) Jack

Are you leaving the quadrajet on?
Righty736 2 years ago
Yes, the Quadrajet will be left on, thought it will be getting serviced probably while the car is in storage next winter.

Possibly the reason its shifting to early is because it has "highway gears" not sure
