What is the tuning stability of this guitar. It's got no double locking system (like Ibanez, ESP, Jackson...). So, are the locking tuner sufficient for good tuning stability while using the tremolo?
@PwnYouAtSoccer To be fair, it's not like the "XI" stands for 11, it's the number of years he's been with EB/MM. He's had his original Basswood/Painted model, the Alder/Mahogany Tone Block/Figured Maple BFR, the above BFR with the tone woods & newer body shape and solid finish, and now the refinement of that in the XI BFR model. So that's 4 in 11 years... and I'm sure Music Man wouldn't be putting them out if they weren't selling in droves!
@BOOLsheet No, that's boolsheet for the most part! It honestly all depends on your technique and how much extra movement you have in your wrist while picking.
jthurm77, this guy actaully has a point stop bashing him, I dont know for sure that the chamber is going to make the guitar more mellow, but typically thats wat chambering is used for, Petrucci is a metal player, has in your face soloes and a huge crunch tone, chamberings the last thing ud wanna do i think.
Very nice demo Pete! :) I think the JPX is next on the list. Well it will be if some of my other gear sells...
And to jthurm77- how can you make such a bold statement without actually trying the guitar? Plus the fact it's not actually a 'metal' guitar makes your statement invalid and pointless. And people don't just buy the JP model for the name, they buy it because it is the right guitar for them. I own 3 EBMM guitars and the JP is the best one for me.
GJ pete, but u should set the amp to KILL!!! :P (dante between knuckleheads)
Jthurm, the JP is offered in 4 models: standard (the cheapest yet hugely loved), the BFR (w/classic woods: mahog and maple) the Koa (w/deluxe woods) and now the JPX. each is available as 6 string and 7 string. the first 3 are also available left handed. it goes from john foggerty to TTEOTD, to call it a metal guitar is almost offensive. By the way, pepper keenen plays a hollowbody, and nobody pays 2k for metal guitars
This guitar aswell as the other models like BFR and Standard are known for being very versatile guitars not METAL guitars because Petrucci doesnt play only METAL. Next time try to learn something about the product before you even think about criticizing or you will turn out to spit crap out of your mouth like you did now.
ESP is better than music man. john petrucci have weak style at playing than others

Do you know how many Music man collectors there are in the world?
Do u know how many people love the JP guitars?
I dont think there ever has been a Music man guitar that people have "offloaded in record time"...
