Christians are so pathetic. Most people gave up their imaginary friends while still in elementary school. These deluded cretins make me ashamed to be a part of the human race. I mean worshipping a 2,000 year old jewish zombie who listens to millions of people murmering to him at the same time. It's just pathetic!

Why would you find beauty in this there no killing children or forcing coverts on people. If they choose not to convert kill them. Nobody cares what a vile person thinks and you meet your faith in gods hands.
ok while catholicexodus was wrong, catholics have not rejected the Church. We do hold on to the traditions of the Church. If only both Catholics and Orthodox can see that there really is a miscommunication only and that we do believe the exact same thing using different words to describe it we can move past all this animosity and be united again.
That verse should be used on Protestants and not Catholics, Protestants are the ones that have rejected tradition and the Bible's real interpretation
ESEME11: Catholicexodus isn't a Catholic. He's a Protestant, here to win converts to Protestantism, i.e. to lead an exodus from Catholicism and Orthodoxy.
So his inability to appreciate the beauty of this piece is understandable, since his spiritual eyes are well closed and he has not been illumined by the Holy Spirit. Such people are often aesthetically challenged. But perhaps, one day he too will see a bright light and hear the words "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"
@ESEME11 Don't get me wrong, it would be a beautiful if the Catholic Church accepted the Orthodox Doctrine and Tradition. I would love to see the churches reunite.
I would love to see the Churches unite. But what makes u think that Catholics are the ones wrong on this issue, and not the Orthodox?
Last I checked the Keys to the Kingdom was given to Peter. Does Peter reside in the East? It was Peter whose faith was not to fail, and he was the one to strengthen his brethren, not the other way around. I stand with Peter.
@ESEME11 Well, simply look at history...the Catholics believe in many false doctrines. Not to take away from St. Peter at all, but He isn't the one who will save you, it is Christ. All the Apostles preached the same Christ, the same God, unfortunately, the Catholics decided to change the belief that the original Church had, this became as the Orthodox Church, and the other became the catholic church. I advise you to go on orthodoxbookstore. org and purchase a book called Orthodoxy VS. Catholics
I've looked at history, and it is the reason I chose Catholicism. I not only looked at history, I looked at the Scriptures, only Catholicism makes sense of it. Who stated that St. Peter is the one who will save me. But it is St. Peter that he built His Church upon, and it is St. Peter that the Fathers told us to stand with, you know the Bishop of Rome. You know very well that the split between the Orthodox and Catholics had NOTHING to do with theology but EVERYTHING to do with politics
@ESEME11 Actually the first churches were all Orthodox. When Constintine converted he wanted to change rome from paganism and thats why he formed the Roman Church. Problems arose when The new Roman Church wanted to change the Nicean Creed as well as other theological principals. The Virgin Mary being sinless is a great example. It climaxed when the RC sent papers claiming they were the rightful leaders.
@ESEME11 St. Peter was the first to receive the keys, but wasn't the only one. To receive the keys means to bind and loose, what is forgiven here is forgiven in heaven, and what is remitted here, so also in heaven. Two chapters later in the gospel of Matthew, he gives the same command to bind and loose to all the Apostles. Second of all, Rome isn't the only one that had St. Peter as its first bishop. Antioch also had St. Peter, probably more so than Rome did, and they don't claim primacy.
@ESEME11 "And I say to thee. thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." Matthew 16:18
Dont forget when you read a couple more lines you see that Peter Denys Jesus 3 times.
When I read this with context I see Jesus saying you are Peter, upon THIS rock I will build my Church. So is Peter the Rock or is Jesus the rock. The rock analigy jesus uses is the biggest clue. Is the person who denys Jesus 3 times the rock?
@mumswording ofcourse considering that Jesus goes ahead and gives Peter charge over his flock 3 times overriding the betrayal. Do u understand what is meant by Rock?
@ESEME11 take a look closely . Jesus Christ "the chief cornerstone" (Matthew 21:42). Jesus was talking about building His church upon the solid bedrock, not a small pebble.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." (Matthew 7:24-25)
@ESEME11 1 Corinthians 3:11 "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalm 118:8). Like David said, "The Lord is my rock" (Psalm 18:2) "And who is a rock, except our God?" (Psalm 18:31).
@mumswording have u also forgotten that the apostles were also called foundations of the Church with Christ as the cornerstone? You sound Protestants with your posting of passages that don't support your point. Was Peter the leader of the apostles or not?
@ESEME11 Of course the Apostles were the foundations. Jesus was the Cornerstone. Peter was one of the descipels. When Jesus told Peter to come to him on the ocean what happens? Peters rocky faith caused him to sink. Many times does Christ show that Peters faith was unsturdy. Now going back to the Greek wording the word is Petra for big rock but Jesus calls Peter Petros. Very different
@mumswording Lastly the bible was written in Greek. the name peter translated to petros or.....pebble. The word for a big strong rock is petra and in this verse Jesus uses the word Petra. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
@mumswording Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)
I m a Orthodox Christian and fully believe Peter was a holy saint. Its just the evidence points to Jesus speaking of Himself.
@mumswording So what was the point of Jesus changing Simon's name? JUst for fun? When did God ever change a person's name just for fun?
So basically Christ said thou are Kepha and upon Kepha I will build my Church, but he wasn't talking about the person he just named Kepha? where's the logic in that?
@ESEME11 Names have changed in the past. Simon (God Heard) to Peter or (rock). . Jesus never says you are Peter and upon you I shall build my rock. All Scripture points to JESUS being the ROCK. All of his parables come back to this Gospel truth. Matthew 7. 24-27. This is scripture is evidence that Jesus was refering to HIMSELF as being the rock.
@mumswording you still haven't answered my question. what was the point of Simon's name change at that moment? Here u admit that Peter means rock, finally we agree, why would Christ now call Simon Rock when he actually had no reason for calling him that. No one is debating whether Jesus is the Rock, you just happen to think that only Jesus can be called Rock.
@mumswording Just because Christ is called rock does not mean that Peter cannot also be the rock, infact it proves even more that Peter does have Christ's authority on earth, remember the King has a Prime minister and the Prime minister can exercise the King's authority. Now see how ur contradicting urself. u stated that Christ is the foundation, I then showed u that the apostles are also the foundation
@mumswording therefore just because Simon is called Rock does not mean that Jesus isn't the rock and vice versa, it isn't an either/or thing. Jesus' authority is held by Peter, read Isaiah 22 it's the prophecy of Peter being given the Keys. Jesus didn't call Peter Petros, Jesus calls Simon Kepha, Kepha is the only term in aramaic for Rock. Jesus didn't speak greek, he spoke aramaic. Please prove ur point for them actual language used by Jesus.
@ESEME11 According to our church fathers commentary on Matt. 16:18 "Peter/rock is a play on the word for rock in Aramaic and Greek. Rock refers not to Peter himself but to the confession of his faith. The true Rock and foundation of the Church is, of course, Christ Himself. The church rests upon this Rock by her unchanging faith, her confession. With this faith as the foundation, the gates of Hades, the powers of death, are powerless against her.": An Orthodox perspective
@ESEME11 "Whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them,I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
If you follow Jesus & do his commandments it is you ll be building your spiritual life on this rock. This rock is Jesus . What did Peter Say about this though? Shouldnt we see what his scripture states?
@ESEME11 according to Peters writings Jesus did in fact make it clear who the Rock was. Peter quotes Isaiah 28:16 and applies the Messianic stone reference to Jesus. Peter references vivid imagery from Isaiah. God placed Jesus as the chosen and valuable cornerstone. All the apostles of Christ are important. My point to this whole thing is that Jesus is the rock & all the faith is built upon. The rock never denies, doubts, sins.
It wasn't until later that the Orthodox Church tried to justify its breaking off by looking for theological reasons, unfortunately it has never made any sense. In the end, it is Peter's faith that will never fail, I stand with Peter.
I know the differences, I know it's not what it is made out to be. I know that a lot of Orthodox misunderstand a lot within Catholicism and have allowed themselves to be influenced by the Protestants.
@copticdude Thanks for the beautiful video. From these videos I hope that more people will see how pure and beautiful Orthodoxy is. I am Bulgarian orthodox, but i like very much to watch Coptic hymns. When I watch them i have the feeling that I go back in the time when Our Lord, Jesus, was on Earth. God bless all Christians.
@copticdude AGREE! The sad thing is we have so many denominations of Christians and every time another one is formed they move further away from what the first apostles saw and believed. Church is a place for people to become spiritually stronger. Early Christians were martyred because of what they believed. They faced torture for an unbelievable amount of time then finally killed. Now we have Christians who complain about a 2 hour long mass.
As an Orthodox Christian, I totally agree. We should put the past behind as we are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and of all Christians, Catholics and Orthodox are so similar. Were both harassed and persuted by the Protesatants equally, we should have united long ago. God bless!!!
We DO NOT believe in the same thing. For example, we don't accept the doctrine of the filioque, which the catholics do. We do not believe in the infallibility of our Pope, as there is not being which is or was infallible but Christ himself. We do not believe in Purgatory as the Catholic church does. We do not believe in so much stuff which you guys believe, this is not a miscommunication, clearly the catholic church is not on the same line as orthodoxy. Please go review the differences.
@pleebloo hi peace with you. Orhodox christianiy is th first religion after christ. You can say constantinople started christianity but the truth is orthodox religion had already started in israel at the ime. Get you facts right.
@4everpraisethelord: Peace to you too. Did you mean to address your post to someone else? I am Orthodox and agree with everything you said. I'm not sure what you think I said about Constantinople. I don't think I ever mentioned anything like that. What facts did I get wrong?
@pleebloo hey sorry my brother in faith. I ment to send it to the one above you. I blieve our orthodox religion is the first and still follows the same way when it started. I am eritrean and most proud to be orthodox. Sorry for my comments i didnt mean to send it to you. May God bless you!

This is not the ancient church of the East. You're thinking the Iraqi Church of the East. This is the true orthodox church, of Cyril and Athanasius, of which you have abandoned and to follow a pro-Nestorian Christology.
Actually, we are miaphysite, not monophysite, we don't follow the heresy of Eutaychius, Please review your history before you speak against our church.
We are all Christian Brothers and Sisters. All religions shall not fall though we as Christians must help all other religions with their other beleifs.Lot of Christians have been lead astray though and lot of us Christians need other religions to pick us up but have other religions made such an attempt to save us as we made to save them? . . . . . . . . . .
I still pray for the day when Christiendom is reunited into the One Holy Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. Non nobis, Domine, Domine, non nobis, Domine

The Split between Greek and Latin needs to END FOREVER. Only through the unification of the Orthadox and Catholic Church's can we hope to combat the rise os heretical Islam in Europe and Indeed thw entire world. God Bless

In Islam, when Jesus Christ returns, he will bring back the Christians to the truth. Jesus Christ was but a man, a mighty messenger and the blessed prophet of our One God. Hopefully, when he returns, Jesus again, will lead you all back to the correct way of worshipping the never-dying, eternal God (Allah). Much love to you my Christian brothers and sisters, but just as much as you wish truth for me, I wish it upon you as well.

Sorry for this really stupid question but is there any difference between Russian Orthodox to Serbian Orthodox, Greek Orthodox or which ever way. I don't really know anything about Orthodox.
@380800 There are two orthodox churches: Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox church. Eastern orthodox = Russia, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia. Oriental orthodox = Egypt (Coptic Christians), Armenia, Syria, Ethiopia, Eritrea. Both churches are very similar, even identical. The division between both churches was a matter of misundersnading. Now both churches are again talking about unification. Greetings from Bulgarian orthodox.
@380800 yes we are the same with little local differences and of course the difference of language, but other than that we are all apart of the one Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church that Christ had established 2,000 years ago.
Arab Christians are the most faithful Christians in the world! Every Arab Christian i met (Egypt,Lebanon,Palestine,Syria) was sooo religious, like Jesus said those who know the suffering would be blessed by God the most!!
this is the egyptian langauge with some greek words mixed in... we copts use to speaking Egyptian, now we speak Arabic with Egyptian dialect ... allot of Egyptian words are mixed with Egyptian Arabic.
The first half of this hymn is sung entirely in Greek. The second half is sung in Coptic (ancient Egyptian). Although Coptic uses many Greek loan words, and is written using the Greek alphabet (with some additional letters), it belongs to a completely different language group (a bit like Arabic and Farsi, or English and Swahili, for example).
@cooltibu@cooltibu i know you posted this a long time ago, this is the language coptic egyptians would have spoken before the arab invasion, most coptic egyptians speak arabic, however there are still some families who speak the ancient coptic language which has a lot of similarities to the greek language. we also use a lot of greek in our liturgies and practices

@cooltibu Indeed. This is Coptic; the ancient Egyptian language that all Egyptians used to speak prior to the Muslim take-over. Yes, it is based on the Greek alphabet, but only pronunciation is difference, tune and additional characters is what difference the Coptic language for Greek.
Our Serbian Orthodox Church and Romanian Orthodox Church and Antioch Ortodox Church, we have love and respect to the Oriental Orthodox Churches: Coptic, Ethiopian, Syrian Oriental Orthodox churches, your church in India, etc..
Coptic church is orthodox church. It is one of the ancient church. It is Mark the apostlic who preached Copts (egiptians). Copts share the same dogma with Indian,Syrian,Armenian,Ethiopian and Eretrian Orthodox
Please do not be misleaded by Copic and Armenia and Ethopia .my father has told me they are not!they have seperated from the Unipue Church in very early age.they just use the "Orthodox"as thier name.
Dear ambroseofoptina, it is not early departure but reason of departure that contributes for correctness of church. The departure is because papal leon of rome produced false teaching on Jesus Christ. If you want to know it, I will send you the truth history and comparing form bible. i.e. the separation case and the beliefe of the two denominations.Orthodox name was made in 325 when the church argue with Areus.
Dear ambroseofoptina , the two orthodox (both eastern and oriental) made council in 1990 to check their faith. Fortunately the found it to be similar. One thing that is different is use of two nature and one nature of christ. But when the talked the found it to be same except using the words. If you need more information I will send u on this issue.

Dear Idiot, we dont' believe that God has Children, we believe Jesus Christ is God in the Flesh! He the The Word! HE is the ALPHA and the OMEGA, HE is the Beginging and the END! Jesus Christ is God... that is wut we believe! your lil speech about ur beliefs did nothing! nor will you convince us to leave our Christ our God! so don't waste ur time, instead... you should GO read the Bible! I read the quran, why don't u read the bible? then come talk to me! El maseeh Allah Zahaar fe'l gasaad!
kustacma10 we believe that Jesus is the son of God,but the "son"is not the so called "son" which is called in us human beings.the SON is beyond man's understanding!
from what have i read, the coptic church, based the pope's comments, today is borderline anti-semitic. for instance the pope said forbade copts from visiting jerusalem untill "it is liberated"(note that israel lets the coptic clergy stay in the churches). please correct me if i'm wrong. as a jew, i don't want to have unfounded hatred for other ethnic groups or churches considering what people have dopne to us over the years.
actually the israeli court granted the coptic church rights over a monestery but the police have not done anything to follow the courts ruling and the greeks maintain the coptic monesatry
also just becase we as Egyptians are against the state of Israel being a state, and believe the land is and should be for the palestinians does not make us anti-semitic!
having an opinion on whether the state of israel should exsist or not, does not mean we are anti-semitic, we love all people that God created and we pray that Jews, Muslims, athesists, buddists etc see the light which is Our Lord God and SAvior Jesus Christ
fair enough, even though i believe that as since jews are a people, we should have the right to self determination, u seem that the church is not antisemitic. however, regarding ur second response, there are two things. Regarding the police response, i'm not sure about that. regarding the coptic monastery under greek possesion, this isn't suprising. Most of Jerusalem is under greek possesion. Infact, the knesset(the israeli parlement) is owned by the greeks, and is only being temporarily leased.
well, u understand that palestine is kinda the only legitimate place for jews. when our nation did have it's own state it was in palestine(jew means "Judean national"). if we were in germany, that would be full blown colonialism
yes, but then u gave up Christ to the romans, and made a mockery of Christ and said let his blood be upon us and our childern, tech in the Christian idea, u are no longer the "people of God." and any contract between the Jew and God is void.. since u gave him up...Then the romans later kicked u guys out... i see ur point but its not fair because ur talking about something being legit from 2008 years ago!
i'm not basing my decision on faith. i don't think israel is some kinda divine commonwealth. I'm saying that since it's the only place where jews have lived, the jewish ethnic group should live there. and second of all, ur point about christ has some problems. First is the fact that some of us don't believe christ is the messiah. Second is the fact that christ forgave us (Luke 23:34). and finaly, we were tricked by the high priests(mathew 27:20).
im not saying u believe in him, whether u believe or not, it is wut it is, there is only One God, and one Truth... and Jews for like 2000 years have lived everywhere around the world... and lived in palestine, i don't have a traditional Christian nation anywhere in the world? its all seperated by church in state yet i live here.. u can live anywhere?
u have a point about the two thousand years. however, regardign the crhistian nation part, u neglect one fact: that jews are an ethnic group as well as an religion. the word jew comes from the greek word Ioudaios which means some one from judea. thus we have a right to our own land. infact the founders of israel were socialists, and thus agnostics.
yes but u can call ur selves wutever u want, bottom line is that was 2000 years ago.. .and the word Jew is now a religion, and u could have been a polish jew, for example doen'st mean u urself is from judea, ur ansters were there fine... but who is there now? either way... Israel is astablished nothing we can do, its written int eh bible ayways... but was it fair? i dont' thikn so? we are not anti-semetic but we stand by wut we beelive is right and wrong period
ok that's fine. i'm all for freedom of thought. However, about ur comment about polish jews. it's like saying a survivor of the armenian genocide is turkish because their family's been living in turkey
back in the day, we would use some greek in the liturgy as a sign of unity..so if u were in greece or in Egypt or syria or anywhere, the liturgy would be familiar
o0 ok, i wish Egypt best of luck, i know its an Islamic country so it must be hard being a Christian there. Anyways i just posted a new video.. check it out if you like. =)
Did you know that candles are used everytime a jewish prays? In the last supper, Jesus and his disciples lit candles too as this is done during the Paschal Supper. So candles have been with us since the beginning...
You must be an ignorant fundamentalist, go to study church History!
The Coptic ortodox church is belong to Bysantium time perioud, therefore in Bysantium was 3 sides united greeks, muslims and west. When i see muslims i refer them to that time period.I am an ortodox from russia myself. If you look on that time period there muslim God speackers had discussion with a Bysantium Emperor. That's why i believe Mother Mary appeared in Zeitun 68-70 to all, muslims, catholics, ortodox and jews there. Therefore the Novoah was a jew and from his 3 sons came other people.
I am roman catholic and it is beautiful to see the various Coptic/Eastern/Oriental Orthodox masses. I don't remember but why/when did the Eastern and Western churches divide/or have a schism? During the Council of Nicea?
the oriental orthodox and the catholic & eastern orthodox split in the mid 400s AD over the nature(s) of our Lord Jesus Christ. the OO believe that our Lord Jesus Christ has a united nature of being both divine and human. catholics and eo believe that Jesus has two seperate natures of being divine and human. the catholic and eastern orthodox split around the first millennium over some issues such as whether the HS proceeds from only the Father or the Father and the Son in the Trinity.
you bastards shouldn't be alive. egypt was not yours and you fags know it. Alexandria took our land and gave it to you. your nothing but european cum bucket
LOOOOOOOOL. The Coptic Orthodox Church has been established in Egypt lonngggggg before Islam even began, and lonngggg before Arabs invaded OUR country. So before you spread your rather amusing ignorance, get your facts straight.
This is a beautiful hymn! God bless you for sharing it with us. I don't belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, so I'm wondering: why were some hymns left in Greek instead of being translated into Coptic?
its there from the old times, when the church was united... so all the church's in the world would speak greek so that if ur in Egypt, greece, or wherever in the world christians were united and can understand the liturgy... shame how we are today huh?
Yeah, but it's even more of a shame that by posting a simple video of extracts from the Coptic liturgy, a whole bunch of morons feel the need to leave you hate messages. Anyway, if I understand you correctly, are the hymns that are usually (always?) done in Greek (like Agios, Ton Thanaton, etc.) the oldest ones in the liturgy? I guess that would make sense, since these lie at the foundation of the liturgy and are shared (in some form) by all Eastern Churches.

Orthodox church is the sister harlot of Rome, The whore of Babylon. It is is idolotrous and teaches one can earn slavation by good deeds. It worships Mary AND "SAINTS" instead of Christ
No where in the Orthodox Beleif says we earn salvation by Good Deeds. But like the bible says "by works, faith is perfected". We dont worship Mary and saints, we honour them, As God Honors them. Just like Jesus said, "whoever honors my father, My father will honor him also".
"instead of Christ"....i'd really like to see where you got that from.....we honour the saints and ask them to intercede on our behalf. "If you Lord should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?"
"instead of Christ"....i'd really like to see where you got that from.....we honour the saints and ask them to intercede on our behalf. "If you Lord should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?"
The Bible does not have to say to do "all this...stuff." The fact of the matter is that the Bible was put together by Great Men who did "all this...stuff." The Divine Liturgy (Sunday service) of the Orthodox Church is older than the Bible, and so are all of the things which accompany it, such as the icons and candles. And all of these things were done by the men who put your Bible together. The Faith came first, then the Bible which spoke of the Faith.
the coptic orthodox church is the mother of all human being eventhough who r away from us . internaly they feel that . May the God's name be gloriefied by ur affairs , GBU

Catholics
copticdude 1 year ago
I've looked at history, and it is the reason I chose Catholicism. I not only looked at history, I looked at the Scriptures, only Catholicism makes sense of it. Who stated that St. Peter is the one who will save me. But it is St. Peter that he built His Church upon, and it is St. Peter that the Fathers told us to stand with, you know the Bishop of Rome. You know very well that the split between the Orthodox and Catholics had NOTHING to do with theology but EVERYTHING to do with politics
ESEME11 1 year ago
@ESEME11 Actually the first churches were all Orthodox. When Constintine converted he wanted to change rome from paganism and thats why he formed the Roman Church. Problems arose when The new Roman Church wanted to change the Nicean Creed as well as other theological principals. The Virgin Mary being sinless is a great example. It climaxed when the RC sent papers claiming they were the rightful leaders.
mumswording 1 year ago

Is the person who denys Jesus 3 times the rock?
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording ofcourse considering that Jesus goes ahead and gives Peter charge over his flock 3 times overriding the betrayal. Do u understand what is meant by Rock?
ESEME11 1 year ago
@ESEME11 take a look closely . Jesus Christ "the chief cornerstone" (Matthew 21:42). Jesus was talking about building His church upon the solid bedrock, not a small pebble.
"Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." (Matthew 7:24-25)
mumswording 1 year ago
@ESEME11 1 Corinthians 3:11 "For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ." It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man." (Psalm 118:8). Like David said, "The Lord is my rock" (Psalm 18:2) "And who is a rock, except our God?" (Psalm 18:31).
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording have u also forgotten that the apostles were also called foundations of the Church with Christ as the cornerstone? You sound Protestants with your posting of passages that don't support your point. Was Peter the leader of the apostles or not?
ESEME11 1 year ago
@ESEME11 Of course the Apostles were the foundations. Jesus was the Cornerstone. Peter was one of the descipels. When Jesus told Peter to come to him on the ocean what happens? Peters rocky faith caused him to sink. Many times does Christ show that Peters faith was unsturdy. Now going back to the Greek wording the word is Petra for big rock but Jesus calls Peter Petros. Very different
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording Lastly the bible was written in Greek. the name peter translated to petros or.....pebble. The word for a big strong rock is petra and in this verse Jesus uses the word Petra. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording But Christ spoke aramaic, and the word he used is Kephas, it is the only word of Rock, so why does he change his name to Rock?
ESEME11 1 year ago
@mumswording Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit." (Ephesians 2:19-22)
I m a Orthodox Christian and fully believe Peter was a holy saint. Its just the evidence points to Jesus speaking of Himself.
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording So what was the point of Jesus changing Simon's name? JUst for fun? When did God ever change a person's name just for fun?
So basically Christ said thou are Kepha and upon Kepha I will build my Church, but he wasn't talking about the person he just named Kepha? where's the logic in that?
ESEME11 1 year ago
@ESEME11 Names have changed in the past. Simon (God Heard) to Peter or (rock). . Jesus never says you are Peter and upon you I shall build my rock. All Scripture points to JESUS being the ROCK. All of his parables come back to this Gospel truth. Matthew 7. 24-27. This is scripture is evidence that Jesus was refering to HIMSELF as being the rock.
mumswording 1 year ago
@mumswording you still haven't answered my question. what was the point of Simon's name change at that moment? Here u admit that Peter means rock, finally we agree, why would Christ now call Simon Rock when he actually had no reason for calling him that. No one is debating whether Jesus is the Rock, you just happen to think that only Jesus can be called Rock.
ESEME11 1 year ago
@mumswording Just because Christ is called rock does not mean that Peter cannot also be the rock, infact it proves even more that Peter does have Christ's authority on earth, remember the King has a Prime minister and the Prime minister can exercise the King's authority. Now see how ur contradicting urself. u stated that Christ is the foundation, I then showed u that the apostles are also the foundation
ESEME11 1 year ago
@mumswording therefore just because Simon is called Rock does not mean that Jesus isn't the rock and vice versa, it isn't an either/or thing. Jesus' authority is held by Peter, read Isaiah 22 it's the prophecy of Peter being given the Keys. Jesus didn't call Peter Petros, Jesus calls Simon Kepha, Kepha is the only term in aramaic for Rock. Jesus didn't speak greek, he spoke aramaic. Please prove ur point for them actual language used by Jesus.
ESEME11 1 year ago
@ESEME11 According to our church fathers commentary on Matt. 16:18 "Peter/rock is a play on the word for rock in Aramaic and Greek. Rock refers not to Peter himself but to the confession of his faith. The true Rock and foundation of the Church is, of course, Christ Himself. The church rests upon this Rock by her unchanging faith, her confession. With this faith as the foundation, the gates of Hades, the powers of death, are powerless against her.": An Orthodox perspective
TheMikerussian 1 year ago
@ESEME11 "Whoever hears these sayings of mine and does them,I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock.
and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
If you follow Jesus & do his commandments it is you ll be building your spiritual life on this rock. This rock is Jesus . What did Peter Say about this though? Shouldnt we see what his scripture states?
mumswording 1 year ago
@ESEME11 according to Peters writings Jesus did in fact make it clear who the Rock was. Peter quotes Isaiah 28:16 and applies the Messianic stone reference to Jesus. Peter references vivid imagery from Isaiah. God placed Jesus as the chosen and valuable cornerstone. All the apostles of Christ are important. My point to this whole thing is that Jesus is the rock & all the faith is built upon. The rock never denies, doubts, sins.
mumswording 1 year ago
It wasn't until later that the Orthodox Church tried to justify its breaking off by looking for theological reasons, unfortunately it has never made any sense. In the end, it is Peter's faith that will never fail, I stand with Peter.
I know the differences, I know it's not what it is made out to be. I know that a lot of Orthodox misunderstand a lot within Catholicism and have allowed themselves to be influenced by the Protestants.

@ESEME11 in it you will be able to truly realize the differences, and the importance of the difference.

Now we have Christians who complain about a 2 hour long mass.
mumswording 1 year ago

Dear ambroseofoptina, it is not early departure but reason of departure that contributes for correctness of church. The departure is because papal leon of rome produced false teaching on Jesus Christ. from what have i read, the coptic church, based the pope's comments, today is borderline anti-semitic. for instance the pope said forbade copts from visiting jerusalem untill "it is liberated"(note that israel lets the coptic clergy stay in the churches). please correct me if i'm wrong. as a jew, i don't want to have unfounded hatred for other ethnic groups or churches considering what people have dopne to us over the years.
jewtube2021 3 years ago
actually the israeli court granted the coptic church rights over a monestery but the police have not done anything to follow the courts ruling and the greeks maintain the coptic monesatry
kustacma10 3 years ago
also just becase we as Egyptians are against the state of Israel being a state, and believe the land is and should be for the palestinians does not make us anti-semitic!
kustacma10 3 years ago
having an opinion on whether the state of israel should exsist or not, does not mean we are anti-semitic, we love all people that God created and we pray that Jews, Muslims, athesists, buddists etc see the light which is Our Lord God and SAvior Jesus Christ
kustacma10 3 years ago
fair enough, even though i believe that as since jews are a people, we should have the right to self determination, u seem that the church is not antisemitic. however, regarding ur second response, there are two things. Regarding the police response, i'm not sure about that. regarding the coptic monastery under greek possesion, this isn't suprising. Most of Jerusalem is under greek possesion. Infact, the knesset(the israeli parlement) is owned by the greeks, and is only being temporarily leased.
jewtube2021 3 years ago
sure u have the right to self determination, not occupation !
kustacma10 3 years ago
well, u understand that palestine is kinda the only legitimate place for jews. when our nation did have it's own state it was in palestine(jew means "Judean national"). if we were in germany, that would be full blown colonialism
jewtube2021 3 years ago
yes, but then u gave up Christ to the romans, and made a mockery of Christ and said let his blood be upon us and our childern, tech in the Christian idea, u are no longer the "people of God." and any contract between the Jew and God is void.. since u gave him up...Then the romans later kicked u guys out... i see ur point but its not fair because ur talking about something being legit from 2008 years ago!
kustacma10 3 years ago
i'm not basing my decision on faith. i don't think israel is some kinda divine commonwealth. I'm saying that since it's the only place where jews have lived, the jewish ethnic group should live there. and second of all, ur point about christ has some problems. First is the fact that some of us don't believe christ is the messiah. Second is the fact that christ forgave us (Luke 23:34). and finaly, we were tricked by the high priests(mathew 27:20).
jewtube2021 3 years ago
im not saying u believe in him, whether u believe or not, it is wut it is, there is only One God, and one Truth... and Jews for like 2000 years have lived everywhere around the world... and lived in palestine, i don't have a traditional Christian nation anywhere in the world? its all seperated by church in state yet i live here.. u can live anywhere?
kustacma10 3 years ago
u have a point about the two thousand years. however, regardign the crhistian nation part, u neglect one fact: that jews are an ethnic group as well as an religion. the word jew comes from the greek word Ioudaios which means some one from judea. thus we have a right to our own land. infact the founders of israel were socialists, and thus agnostics.
jewtube2021 3 years ago
yes but u can call ur selves wutever u want, bottom line is that was 2000 years ago.. .and the word Jew is now a religion, and u could have been a polish jew, for example doen'st mean u urself is from judea, ur ansters were there fine... but who is there now? either way... Israel is astablished nothing we can do, its written int eh bible ayways... but was it fair? i dont' thikn so? we are not anti-semetic but we stand by wut we beelive is right and wrong period
kustacma10 3 years ago
ok that's fine. i'm all for freedom of thought. However, about ur comment about polish jews. it's like saying a survivor of the armenian genocide is turkish because their family's been living in turkey

Did you know that candles are used everytime a jewish prays? In the last supper, Jesus and his disciples lit candles too as this is done during the Paschal Supper. So candles have been with us since the beginning...
You must be an ignorant fundamentalist, go to study church History!

I feel I am with my family when I visit the Coptic church even though I am not Coptic.
May God strengthen this church more and more, and bless them.
Christ is risen from the dead.

During the Council of Nicea?
vnbm 4 years ago 3
the oriental orthodox and the catholic & eastern orthodox split in the mid 400s AD over the nature(s) of our Lord Jesus Christ. the OO believe that our Lord Jesus Christ has a united nature of being both divine and human. catholics and eo believe that Jesus has two seperate natures of being divine and human. the catholic and eastern orthodox split around the first millennium over some issues such as whether the HS proceeds from only the Father or the Father and the Son in the Trinity.

LOOOOOOOOL. The Coptic Orthodox Church has been established in Egypt lonngggggg before Islam even began, and lonngggg before Arabs invaded OUR country. So before you spread your rather amusing ignorance, get your facts straight.
But beautiful video :)

This is a beautiful hymn! God bless you for sharing it with us. I don't belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, so I'm wondering: why were some hymns left in Greek instead of being translated into Coptic?
alggeo 4 years ago
its there from the old times, when the church was united... so all the church's in the world would speak greek so that if ur in Egypt, greece, or wherever in the world christians were united and can understand the liturgy... shame how we are today huh?
kustacma10 4 years ago

It worships Mary AND "SAINTS" instead of Christ
sprtslvr1973 4 years ago
No where in the Orthodox Beleif says we earn salvation by Good Deeds. But like the bible says "by works, faith is perfected". We dont worship Mary and saints, we honour them, As God Honors them. Just like Jesus said, "whoever honors my father, My father will honor him also".

"instead of Christ"....i'd really like to see where you got that from.....we honour the saints and ask them to intercede on our behalf. "If you Lord should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?"

where does the bible say that we must do all this with the candles and stuff?
AndreasGR89 4 years ago
do wut with candles?
kustacma10 4 years ago
The Bible does not have to say to do "all this...stuff." The fact of the matter is that the Bible was put together by Great Men who did "all this...stuff." The Divine Liturgy (Sunday service) of the Orthodox Church is older than the Bible, and so are all of the things which accompany it, such as the icons and candles. And all of these things were done by the men who put your Bible together. The Faith came first, then the Bible which spoke of the Faith.
