FWI it does not do both. The reason it has speaker output and speaker input is because you send the speaker signal from the receiver to the sub. You use the speaker output to go to your speaker that the input came from. The sub will take the bass signals from the receiver and play them so the speaker does not. It is only really for if you don not have a Subwoofer out on your receiver.
hey how did you hook your's up? did you have to buy a cheap receiver or some powered computer speaker's? thinking of buying one but don't want to spend extra on a receiver or something.
@mortarlover123 Question i have a computer with a creative xfi xtreme music sound card, but i am in the hunt for a good sub which is amp to match dem with my altec lansing desktop speakers....what i would like to kno is if the volume on this both control the sub volume and the speaker that i would connect on it volume....i would like to think both the sub and the speaker which gonna be connected to it has separate volumes right???
@mortarlover123 ..what came in the box? cause i purchased t300 bookshelves speakers and they didn't come with any speaker wires or anything..which speaker wires do u recommend i buy to connect the sub to the speakers, something not 2 expensive
BTW the signal from the 3.5mm cord has both treble and bass, i heard somewhere that if you have an amp or reciever that has separate SUBWOOFER RCA plugs on the back that you just plug RCA cords to connect the subwoofer to the amp. But if you dont have an amp to separate the treble from the bass you are suppost to plug the wired into the imputs or outputs. I hope you can tell im too ****** confused. haha
i have the satellite speakers all hooked up and all i have to do now is plug a 3.5mm wire into the psw10 subwoofer. would i split the wire with a 3.5mm to rca cords then plug them into the rca imputs on the back of the speaker or would i split the wire with a 3.5mm to rca cords then plug them into the audio imputs or outputs somewhere??? thanks!!!
@DeadLaine go to vanns and purchase it for 99. but i recommend boston acoustics classical set. it costs $750 dollars at their website but you can pick it up at vans for only $300. my neighbor owns it and bought it for $750. ill just say that for how clean, crisp, clear, and deep the sound is, its worth twice that.
@EASTYJAZ34 well for a 10" it probably hits 30hz from what i can tell but it wont hit the bass your feel and not hear though, which is fine because at that point i would buy a tactile tranducer
Got mine today for 80 bucks from newegg, wooo as soon that I turn this bad boy on with bass I love you song and my dad was like where is that rich bass that shaking the windows come from...LOL
@SMDpeps No. The built in amp is for the subwoofer only. The terminals you see on the back are pass through. You hook the receiver to the input and you hook the speakers to the output. The Sub's built in crossover will take all the low frequencies of signal from the amp and amplify them to the Sub. The other frequencies are passed out to the output jack.
@ZiiRHC There should be a sub input on the back of your receiver, so get a sub cable and hook one end into the sub output and the other into the red or white input on the back of the sub.
so can you hook it up like this? computer>auxiliary cable>rca spliter>subwoofer>then plug your speakers into the audio out on the amp? This set up wouldnt even need an amp then? or does it go computer>amp>subwoofer+speakers or what?
@LineRiderPro333 no it would be Computer>aux>two rca splitters>reds go into the sub and the whites go to rca extension cables then the extension cables go into powered speakers... the speaker out on the sub is almost completely useless.
In my own opinion this subwoofer is amazing for gettin the job done... i bought mine at the future shop for 150 even! and lemme tell ya it packs a good clean punch to those low frequency points in a song or movie :) i strongly recommend polk audio for home theater needs...
@Lorenzo2393 a 1/8" stereo to rca cable, then two rca splitters go into the sub , this leaves you with two female rca plugs after you plug it in the sub which enables you to use rca speakers like pro speakers or studio speakers.
@ottagotchy2 this is probably best for the money, i think it has too much bass though for me, i still am a bass a holic, but with neighbors and family i dont usually have it pass 1/4. still has a good deep boom at 1/4. but adds alot of enhancing bass, i wouldnt listen to music or games without it now, it just adds like 500% more flavor to your music. And iff your partying it can be a loud mucker. ;)
speaker output and input as in i can run speaker cables from a cd player/boombox that has two 5 inches to this then run more cables out to the 5 inchers?
:D I'm getting this hopefully by thursday, most likely latest friday! :D Ordered it from newegg. Being this sub is generally around $199 to $230 at most popular, overpriced stores like "bestbuy" (worstbuy should be the name since its about 3X as much you pay for stuff there) and all those stores, and the retail is $249 bucks, I'd say I'm getting on of the best deals. I'm getting this sub from newegg for 90 bucks 3 day guarenteed free shipping! My friend has this sub, it flexes his door! :D
ok well heres a question for ya. so my stereo receiver thing sucks. and i have a few subs already but the stereo dousnt have eneough power to push the bass that i want. since this sub is self powerd and plugs into the wall dous that mean that the reciever wont determine how much bass i get?
@fastace77 yes, but if it all... always use your RCA signal output on your receiver to this sub, it has alot more signal through the RCA's than the speakon inputs for some reason
@mortarlover123 nice cuz right now i have a 5" logitech frontfiring woofer and its powerful but not enough, so i think when i get this (hopefully tommorow) it'll blow my socks off, literally
@mortarlover123 hey man.. i have the psw111 powered sub!! its pretty good for the size.. but ot enough fior me. when i watch movies it seems to have some pretty good rumble lo's but my receiver is only 100 watts per channel. i could prob get that sub you have and be set eh??
So do you just run in regular RCA music signal then your L and R speakers into the OUT? so the sub will "sort out" the bass music the music? I'm still a bit confused how to hook it up.
@iTehTunePawd it has two RCA inputs, or you can put in speakon wire, but its very quiet with the speakon input, there is only speakon output unfortunatly, so your best bet is to get spliter rca cables, there cheap as in like 3.00, youll need two spillters if you want signal going to your speakers and signal going to your sub
@mortarlover123 So if I wanted to hook this up to my Onkyo Mini Shelf System which only has wired out (for L and R speakers). I mean is it MUCH much quieter? i.e. can the bass response be compensated for by turning it up?
@iTehTunePawd The Speaker In's are like if you want to connect the Sub to a Reciever without a Subwoofer RCA Line Out.....if you Run the Speaker In from the output of your Reciever and the Speaker outs to your Speakers the Adjustable Crossover also adjusts the Speakers as well as the Sub.
@mortarlover123 Just picked this up from New Egg.com for 89 bucks. Im going to use it as a secondary subwoofer for my computer system. From the looks of this video you made it should do just fine !
@mortarlover123 me again, sorry but i didn't understand you, but this is the thing, my sound card has left and rights RCA inputs (red and white) and this subwoofer also has one of those, if i buy 2 cables one red and white to plug them into the sub and the other to the sound card it would work?
@cyberJOKRES if your soundcard outputs sound, then yes...the sub picks up signal through rca, but you need some Y connectors to link the Rca to your sound system all to gether
I was a fan of Polk audio until I purchased some of their products maybe my listening tastes are pretty demanding but I've never owned speakers that bottom out or clip as much as Polk Audio.. I have Klipsch and Paradigm now and have NEVER had them act as the Polk Audio products did and I am a able to drive them for hours and hours without missing a beat....
At what % is the sub when you feel it in the chest? And can u feel it VERY much or just a little because i plan to buy it but, i look at it and it just 50 Watts RMS...
About 50% you can feel it you just gotta go with it, if you don't like it take it back, i have never regretted this purchase and don't plan on it either, sounds better than my local theater
Yeah it basically destroys those haha, trust me i tried them, and this IMO is prolly the best sub for the money, yes it runs 50RMS/ 125PEAK, but it gets it out there rattles stuff like my ceiling light haha, great response down to id say 30hz maybe 25 im happy with it, only should be used for rooms like the standard bedroom, and a medium sized living room, like 30X20
no the other speakers you could not, but if you have a stereo receiver, you could split the signal with y adapters and have your sub hooked up to your speakers with the console of the stereo, and trust me this is worth getting, my music sounds so much more amazing like a good 300% better, and for movies its the bass that rattles things,
@mortarlover123 ah, ok. so, could i use just this sub to hook up to my tv? and use "on board" speakers too? (i would buy a converter to use some more speakers later on)
if you want yes, but what i tryed to say but failed to do was... you can hook it up with speakers just split it ,so the white goes to the sub and the red goes to your speakers, just split the red connector and get to connectors and vwaallaa you have a cool setup, basically you can do any set up as long as the sub isnt running from an amplified signal into the rca ports (it already has an onboard amp)
if you have problems or dont understand what i mean, the good ole people at best buy can help you with the setup, there pretty helpful people, but im 100% sure you can use this sub for your tv, and if youd like you can also use your on board speakers with it
@mortarlover123 your sub gives a big bass ? try it in lil wayne - amily song and listen ...

Hey, I have a question.
It has a line in, speaker leven input, and speaker level output.
So can I hook up my ipod directly to the subwoofer through the ine in using an rca cable, or is that a low-frequency input?
Then can I connect my own midranges and tweeters using the speaker level outputs?
It also has a low pass knob on it, so im thinking u can directly hook up ur ipod through the line in using an rca cable.
Tell me if im wrong.
Thnx.

At what % is the sub when you feel it in the chest? And can u feel it VERY much or just a little because i plan to buy it but, i look at it and it just 50 Watts RMS...

About 50% you can feel it you just gotta go with it, if you don't like it take it back, i have never regretted this purchase and don't plan on it either, sounds better than my local theater

ok does this almost almost hit as hard as Z-5500's? lol i know probly not even close but wondrn. is it louder than z-2300's?

Yeah it basically destroys those haha, trust me i tried them, and this IMO is prolly the best sub for the money, yes it runs 50RMS/ 125PEAK, but it gets it out there rattles stuff like my ceiling light haha, great response down to id say 30hz maybe 25 im happy with it, only should be used for rooms like the standard bedroom, and a medium sized living room, like 30X20

Oh and in bigger rooms, you wont hear the bass youll feel it

Looking into getting this. Would some of my 35w 2.0 speakers hook into this? and would it work with a Dynex 40" HD TV from bestbuy? thanks!

how do your speakers connect using RCA, or Speaker wire(red, and black) also what size room are you looking at having this in
mortarlover123 2 years ago
@mortarlover123 they would attach via the RCA i think.. (red & black)
PS3andPCgamereviews 2 years ago
no the other speakers you could not, but if you have a stereo receiver, you could split the signal with y adapters and have your sub hooked up to your speakers with the console of the stereo, and trust me this is worth getting, my music sounds so much more amazing like a good 300% better, and for movies its the bass that rattles things,
mortarlover123 2 years ago
@mortarlover123 ah, ok. so, could i use just this sub to hook up to my tv? and use "on board" speakers too? (i would buy a converter to use some more speakers later on)
PS3andPCgamereviews 2 years ago
if you want yes, but what i tryed to say but failed to do was... you can hook it up with speakers just split it ,so the white goes to the sub and the red goes to your speakers, just split the red connector and get to connectors and vwaallaa you have a cool setup, basically you can do any set up as long as the sub isnt running from an amplified signal into the rca ports (it already has an onboard amp)
mortarlover123 2 years ago
if you have problems or dont understand what i mean, the good ole people at best buy can help you with the setup, there pretty helpful people, but im 100% sure you can use this sub for your tv, and if youd like you can also use your on board speakers with it

Nice, I have an altec lansing hooked up to my computer. Gets the job done. I would be nice to have something a little more powerful like that though.
