  • why are you guys freaking out about the native americans and indians shit. Just sit back and enjoy the music.

  • lyrics ?

  • "Indians" came from Christopher Columbus's bad Spanish, not his geographic confusion. Being that he was paid by the Spanish crown, he tried to keep his log in Spanish, even though he was Italian. Upon seeing the first Indians, he said they were "Un gente in Dios" In Dios, Indians. In fact, calling them Native Americans is pretty offensive, given the audacity involved in naming them after our name of their country. They should be called Indians, not Native Americans.

  • @Noviante1 Wrong . Maybe next time .

  • @Noviante1 How about 'Un Gente in Dios'= People of God= All Mankind---how about that what do you think...PEACE!

  • The chorus/hook:

    first half :

Bengali: tumi amake jano na // chere dao // takeo na // bolo na

English: you don't know me// leave me alone// don't look at me // don't speak

    seconds half:

Bengali: tumi amake jano na // chesta korle o // jante parbe na

you don't know me // even if you tried you wouldn't understand

  • sick song

  • My favorite of their album. (:

  • LOL WHATEVER BLAME THE WHITEYS hahaha jk no racism here :) but this song is killer!!!!!

  • Lol, the whole "Indian" vs "native American" thing is kind of ridiculous. The other day I heard "Indian American" referring to a Native American, and I was just completely and utterly confused. I've always associated "Indian" with people actually from India. The fact that we still refer to Native Americans as Indians is just kinda re-enforcing the stereotype that Americans are ignorant. Idk, it's just something that kinda bothers me, I guess.

  • @ExtremePanda007 amen man

  • @ExtremePanda007 Same here. My history teacher last year always said Indian instead of Native American, so on a handout he gave us I saw the word "Indian" (referring to Native Americans) and put "NATIVE AMERICAN" in bold next to it. He caught and corrected himself the next time he said it. That teacher was a dumbass, though.

  • @ZnTF Ironically, most native americans refer to themselves as Indians and want to be referred to as indians.

  • @LIAM539 native american is just too long for me so i prefer indian

  • @ExtremePanda007 I heard that in some african language "Indians" means "Gods people" or "people of the land" or something like that and thats supposedly where that comes from. Or maybe it is just ignorance, idk. xD

  • @xXxshrewXtimexXx The historical reason is that the people who traded with us designated us as the people who lived east and south of the river Indus - which is where the term India comes from. A variation of the same river in Sanskrit is Sindhu - which is where the term Hindu comes from as in the religion Hinduism, the Hindu-Kush mountains, the Sindhi people, the ancient Sindhu kingdom etc. But I don't know where the name Sindhu came from :)

  • @flyingmachine87 Ahhh, so that's that cleared up then, thanks. :)

  • @ExtremePanda007

I know what you mean! Its just annoying to me personally. The only reason the indiginous people are called indian is because Christopher Columbus was too dumb and to Proud to realize he didnt land on india

  • @ExtremePanda007 I agree. what's interesting though is that I've brought this up with some Native Americans I know and many of them prefer the term "Indian," for reasons that I've never entirely understood.

  • @nimbunimbu You should definitely have this discussion. One reason I've heard deals with the negative connotations of "native." The term "native" often brings to mind images of "savage warriors" and such.

  • @ExtremePanda007 I agree. One solution is to just be more specific. Say someone is Punjabi/Maharashtran/etc. or Lakota/Penobscot/etc. instead.

  • @ExtremePanda007

So why do most American Indians, and various Indian advocacy groups (AIM, etc) prefer to be called Indians then? Drop the wanna-be progressive act; I wonder, have you even spoken to an Indian?

  • @The3rdRepublic

I do realize that some of them prefer to be called Indians, but I just don't understand why. Never really made sense to me. And you can whatever you want about my views, but seems to me you're just trying to start an argument, which I'm not here to do.

  • @ExtremePanda007

So how are Americans (presumably meaning white Americans) re-enforcing the stereotype they are ignorant by calling"Native Americans" Indians, when it is what these same people prefer to be called, and it is what they have always been called? I'm not trying to start an argument either but I can't help but think your original comment was somewhat disingenuous. Indians aren't children or idiots. they don't need our protection, sympathy or mock confusion.

  • @The3rdRepublic

I guess I was just trying to say that it's ignorant in general to call them Indians because by my understanding, at least, the term derived from, well, ignorance. I could be wrong but I believe the they were originally referred to as Indians cuz Columbus thought he reached India, making the locals Indians. So to STILL refer to them as that, when we know they aren't is just entirely incorrect. Also cuz it confuses me when someone says Indian, cuz idk which they're talking about.

  • @ExtremePanda007 Indians, from India are technically Asians. So calling a Native American an Indian isn`t really offensive, depending on what they want to be called. Also people call African Americans, "blacks" which in many ways is a derogatory term.

  • @schuholzpat

If you call a Chinese person Ethiopian, is that not ignorant? Pretty much the same thing. And the rest of your comment is entirely irrelevant.

  • BLUE SCHOLARSSS!! :)

im so happy hahah wooo thanks for incorporating indians bro's :)

  • LOL SARCASM GUYS IM SORRYYYYY!!!!!!!

  • sarcasmmm....

  • techniclly im indian as in native americans why cant you indians find your own name everyone rips us off

  • @mrsnuflz native americans or "indians" were named that way because europeans thought they had reached india. i dont know why you'd want to identify with an incorrect european essentialization of your people...

  • @mrsnuflz maybe because INDIAns are from INDIA? 8-)

  • techniclly im indian as in native americans why cant you indians find your own name everyone rips us off

  • Comment removed

  • @mrsnuflz ur retarded u stole our name

  • She is speaking Bangla in the chorus, and luckily for you all, I speak Bangla!

Tumi amake jano na = You don't know me

Chere dao = Let me go

Takio na = Don't look at me

Bolo na = Dont say anything

Sheeshe jaante parbe na = In the end, you will never know me

  • @fr023nske7ch sounds like a word between "Sheeshe" and "jaante" - something like "conleo" or "corleo." Know about that?

  • @fr023nske7ch Indeed we are lucky! Thankyou :D

  • @fr023nske7ch

The last line, "sheeshe korleo jaante parbe na"

It's more like: Even if you finish, you'll never know me.

Glad other Bengali people listen to this, though. Hollah.

  • @fr023nske7ch that's only the first part. the last line is tumi amake jano na = you dont know me

chesta korle o = even if you try

jante parbe na = you wont know me

  • @fr023nske7ch "chhere dao" is literally "leave me" but "let me go" conveys the meaning too. i really like their song "yuri kochiyama" and was surprised to find a song called "rani mukerji" (may not be related to the actress).

the bangla pronunciation isn't very good, but i love that they chose bangla and put it in their song and put their own spin on it. sounds great.

  • @fr023nske7ch Bengali Dudes FTW!!

  • @fr023nske7ch Thanks!

  • @fr023nske7ch just curious and i may sound dumb as hell when i say this but where do they speak bangla ? never heard of it before to be honest

  • @J0KAHs In Bangladesh and many parts of India, people speak Bangla or Bengali.

  • @Kryxx07 yea thank you ive never heard it spoken before to be honest but i love how it sounds in this chorus

  • @fr023nske7ch lucky for me i have google translate

  • @fr023nske7ch the last line is cheshta korleo jaante parbe na = even if you try, you won't know me

  • @priyambanerjee89 Bengali is really beautiful that way there are different interpretations on the same sentence based on the way its said. Too bad I never learned to read it when my mother tried to make me : ]
