  • I remember going to the Veteran's Barber Shop in roseland, where haircits were a dollar! Also remember shopping at Gatelys/The Peoples Store too.

    The number 36 Street car used to run all the way downtown from 119th and Vincennes to the loop - a long haul on a streetcar!

  • I also grew up in Roseland on 107th and Michigan. Moved out in 1964. When we were kids, we used to play in the alleys at night, now you can't walk the streets during the day. So sad.

  • @TurboVW2004 I didn't go much past Indiana back then but whenever I hear those Roseland street names they sound like magic words to me. Your mother probably went to Palmer Park in the summer--I probably saw her there.  What grade school dfid she go to?
