Until you get a new camera, you can easily compensate.

1.) Move the camera closer to the action,

until the screen is filled top-to-bottom with a single gymnast.

2.) Wear light (pastel pink, blue ... white, etc.) shiny colors.

3.) Shine a bright light directly at the gymnasts until light shiny cothing sparkles.

@intelligenceisnot i agree - 2much air above their head, 2much background, more close ups, more action in the centre, new camera, new camera operator (take me :P)
