  • I heard this song for the first time high on mushrooms this weekend and it was fucking amazing.

  • WOOOW! the foto at 1:57!! 3x Airline Guitar!!!

  • I could listen to this song all day long... seriously. Jack White is just genius incarnate. The tone he gets from his guitars is beautiful and his music is at the same time original and very ancient... goes straight to the core of me.

  • I remember buying the hardest button to button 7 inch vinyl with this on from a traditional record shop when I was 16 and having to play it on my parents old record player whenever they were out so could turn it up full volume. Used to skip hardest button to button coz had on CD but loved this song, so glad to have found it on here! cheers for posting!

  • they mean a lot to me. I'm grateful for their music.

  • me love

  • They need to release a album of all there B-Sides...

  • how is this a 'rare song', wasnt it on an album

  • @TENNSUMITSUMA It was released as a B-Side on the Single for Hardest Button to Button. So you need to actually buy the single to get it.

  • @jkam101 I believe it was also released in Europe under the album title the B-Side Collection. Kinda hard to find in the states legally though. Still a great album.

  • @okie1719 That is not an official album. It's a bootleg.

  • this is a pretty sweet bside

  • Basically the only band we have to be proud of these days.

  • @kingdomsbythesea

Check out The Black Keys sometime.

  • @Nixhex78 I'm actually in love with the Black Keys. They're my second favorite band. I have all their albums.

  • sweet lord, what a song what a song...

  • man jack looks a lot like sweeny todd at 1:51

  • HEH =D

  • sweet song

  • Wikipedia says this: "St. Ides of March", a song by The Soledad Brothers, covered by The White Stripes on the single "The Hardest Button to Button" So, yeah. It's a cover.

  • Sweet Potato Pie....Sweet Sugar Plum

this song is great, absolutely fantastic, and if its a cover then this is awesome.

  • I haven't been able to get this song outta my head, so hear I am. Strange enough, I haven't heard it in half a year at least..

  • I had this on my iPod... I wonder why I deleted it. This is awesome!

  • jack, stay amazing

  • that ... was awesome

  • why does your reply remind me of scrubs.. ahah

where turk and jd remember the time they had a double prizer in a box of cereals haha...

owjah, i looooove the ws. They absolutley rock and are saving rock/blues music nowadays.... just to make that clear ;)

  • was it the Soledad Brothers? or anothother Detroit band that stayed at Jack's

  • it was the soledad brothers :)

  • it was also the greenhornes from cinicinatti

  • I'm pretty sure its a cover.

anyone know who did the origional

  • jack wrote this version

  • I'm a lucky boy i have this song on vinyl as a b-side.

    I bloody love it

  • the photo at 2:56 makes him look like he's from the era he should have been. the 60's.

  • i just found this song the other day and its probably one my favorite stripes song. gimme some sweet potatoe pie

  • The Soledad Brothers and the White Stripes were friends from the Detroit/Toledo conection. Johnny Walker from the Soledad's plays slide on this song which the Soledad's wrote. I was lucky enough to see the Soledad's last gig, in Detroit, a vastly underrated band. This is a great version of one of their songs.

  • reminds me of "one more cup of coffee for the road" from their very first album.

  • is it just me or does this sound like a doors song?

  • hell ya this rocks.., and it does remind me of the doors.

  • if you could send this mp3 to me id really appreciate it...i love the white stripes and everything they make...

    findingemo93@yahoo

    thank you so much

  • Do you have messenger?

  • @emomufin69 youtube to mp3 converter.

  • @emomufin69 This may be very late, but are you aware that anyone on the internet may send you weird porn now?

  • And where is the photo at 2:30 from? (Sorry for being a nag)

  • That's okay. They are from photobucket, there are lots of cool photos of them there.

  • @goncack thats at canada

  • ohh soo good i love this song!!!!!!!! so soothibg and i love how he then breaks into his yellingness voice!! hummmmm!! m--e--l--o--d--y s--w--i--n--g

  • So simple lyrics but how he sing it

  • Sounds like Do becuase Jack is playing a suspended 3rd back to the mediant quite a bit in the verse melody, or the 4th scale degree, not something you hear a lot of in his usual blues-drenched antics. Mostly pentatonic stuff, though he does it fucking amazingly well. Praise Jackie.

  • great song

    and great photos

    :D

  • heh, thanks mate. 8)

  • Some of the pics I've never seen before. Where is the one at 2:36 from?

  • They were doing a tribute show for they scotish roots i think.

  • This is the Chelsea Hospital London for British Ex Servicemen.

  • thank you, thank you very much!

  • you are welcome! i try to put some new stuff online soon.

  • I can remember this tune from one of there other songs but i can remeber what it is.

  • I suppose part of the main riff sounds a bit like the riff in "Do", even though these are in different tunings. I can kind of see a resemblance, though.

  • i mean video. not recording. obviously this is live.

  • no it was recorded for the hardest button to button video... not live as far as i know.. studio recording

  • oh well ok then.

OH YEAH! i knew that! i just remembered that! nevermind.

    thank you miss.

  • i love this song...id like a live performance though.

    sweet potato pie.

  • Great job with the photos, really unique!

  • thanks, i realy apreciate that.

  • This is a great video! I love the bluesy side of the White Stripes.

  • i enjoy the soledad's version alot more.

    this still good though

  • Still listening only white stripes i see :> but have to admit, this was quite good.

  • If you dig this, check out the Soledad Brothers' first album, they did St. Ides of March and Jack recorded that album...it's just as beautiful.

  • find those on the internet and scanned couple pictures. and thanks.

  • that song was really good, where did you get those pictures
