my sister worked at a carvel when we were in high school, used to go in , make my own sundaes whatever...miss carvel arent many around this part of CT anymore, just a lot of wannabes
Then Gary breaks out in a Andre the Giant voice doing the Carvel Ice cream commercial, we where drunk and rolling all over the floor, I almost choked to death LOL!
It was me Jack, Gary and Mike in Jack's apartment when Jack was dating a Brazilian GoGo dancers and her GoGo dancer friends living there too. We were watching Wresting, the Royal Rumble with Andre the Giant and Hulk Hogan. The Carvel Ice creme commercial comes on and it had the old guy doing the commercial and Gary goes. I bet Andre could do a better job than this guy.
@NinjaGhostScorpion Another vote against transnational conglomerates owning local companies.
Old Tom was a local guy who made ice cream, not an oily and polished 'Act-or' who came out with a master degree in marketing to show how c-l-e-v-e-r he could be...The guy knew more about selling a product he made then all of the slick con-artists in LA could in a hundred years.
It's f-kin amazing how people fall for crappola hatched up in an ad-agency.
The comedian's name is Patton Oswalt. Funny fucking dude. I downloaded all of his acts on my MP4. He also voiced Remy in Ratatouille, though I hate Disney!
'For those of you who don't know, Carvel was a chain of about a dozen shitball ice cream stores on the East Coast. You couldn't cut those cakes with a fucking lightsaber! Your dad would pop a shoulder out of the socket ' YOU FUCKIN BASTARDS'
Do you think Tom Carvel was in on the joke of how dirty Cookie "Puss" sounded? Or just too old to realize that there was something sexually suggestive about the name?
I am thinking Cookie Puss has a penis nose and eyes for balls. Course maybe I have taken too many classes in college that point out sexual innuendo in advertising. Or I am a horny freak.
"Phlegm-powered gravel voice" is a perfect characterization! I love Tom Carvel. Who else could so humanize and bring down to the level of the common man what was in reality the very apotheosis of Fordist-Taylorist mass production economy of scale applied to cake making? Ah, the homemade taste of fully automated robotic injection-molding hydraulic cake presses churning out generic prototypical prefabricated cake base units to be sorted onto appropriate conveyors.
yeah, man...I totally remember this in South Florida. I was telling someone about the laughable cookiepus the other week and low and behold its on youtube. how awesome. LOL at cookie pus. Bless youtube
You all talk like they only showed these commercials in the northeast tri-state area or something but they showed these commercials in south Florida. And else where too I bet!
I'm a North Jersey 80's kid, so I caught these on WPIX all the damn time, along with the "Odd Couple" & "Honeymooners" repeats. I'm scared to think what I'd do to get my hands on one of those CP or Fudgie dolls. I'd better go eat a Flying Saucer and get it together. Bless you Mr. Carvel.
Amen Mc Surly, same here only from Brooklyn and man, I guess the closest we could get is by eating a Flying Saucer while watching both "The Odd Couple" & "The Honeymooners" on DVD. I guess it'll have to do.
I'm hoping againgst all hopes that WPIX will rerun "Batman" when the movie comes out this summer, like they did when the Tim Burton version came out. That would warrant a celebration worthy of a Cookie Puss!
Tom Carvel was the best. I remember when he was promoting a low-fat ice cream called "Thinny-Thin". In the commercial, Tom, in his subtle, delicate manner, blurted "Get Thinny thin...for your fatty-fat friends!". I don't think the low-fat option really took off...
This is awesome!! TOTALLY AWESOME!! Brings back so many memories of when I used to live in New York, when I was a kid. I want those dolls at the end of the commercial!! I checked Ebay for them, and nothing comes up! :(
Not too many commercials thank you for watching them.

Too bad they're so expensive. I heard they run between $30-$50 US, depending on location.
