  • I was changing the air filter on my vr6 today, and noticed a hose that was torn to shreds, after searching for hours I find out its a SAI hose that is made of plastic and cracks alot, really want to just replace it with a rubber tube, just access to this stuff is so hard

  • @Brendon00000 Just go to you local parts store and replace it with Fuel Line hose or Radiator Hose and if you can't find it there just go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some hose there it will all work the same.

  • You're the man.. Thanks for the assist.

  • Don't forget to breathe

  • Lionell8732 ... can you explain that again... that doesn't make much sense reading it.

  • Rip88Tide... I agree replacing the valve the hose and valve it's self is a cheaper route, but alot of the time the actual pump will go bad on you especially on American VW's where they put the 2nd Air Pump they are prone to fill with water and by the time you realize it the pump is bad as well...

  • I got a 96 monte carlo 3.4L dohc engine and I got a code of p0410 and I replace the air pump with a new one and now the code came back on an I'm having driving problems with this code. Can anyone help me because everytime I accelerate my car won't push at all, I have the push down on the gas just to speed up when I'm on the highway.

  • oh he also had to replace the secondary Air Injection valve . Not expensive tho.

  • I have a 2000 jetta vr6 and one of my bud has the same car and all it was on his car was the 4mm vaccuum Hose, check the hose going into and out, and it could also be the secondary air injection valve, these are WAY cheaper to fix so checkthese first. the vaccuum hose just go to auto zone and get 4 mm emessions tubing, i got to check all this on my car hopefully it just that, the vaccuum hose gets so bad it crumbles apart in your hands.

  • I found on my ...1995 Eagle Talon ESI.. that the Air ejection valve/pump is a factory recall and Chrysler or Mitsubishi will replace it for free..

  • jasonz14... check out this website it will tell you... P1423 - Sec.Air Inj.Sys.,Bank1 Flow too Low... check all they hoses going to it make sure there isn't any leaks.

Do a search for Volkswagen Diagnostic Trouble Codes

Bentley Publishing should be one of the sites that pop up so go there to check out the codes. Bentley is a major publisher for all Service Manuals for Automobiles.

  • Whatsmynameb.... I'll agree with that, but the design was all wrong they could have put the pump higher in the engine compartment and moved it up and back a little so water wouldn't get into it.

  • Two things:

    1. Water is getting into the pump due to a faulty combi-valve alowing moisture to build up into the sealed pump, you need to replace BOTH, otherwise your new pump will go bad just like the first.

    2. Two heads are better than one; 98 and newer Passats do not have VR6s they have 30V V6s with two heads (I'm just picky)

  • do you think the codes p1411 and p1423 could be from a bad air pump or connection to this air pump?

  • Joyguy173... yes I'll agree it does have some good sides to it or they wouldn't have put it on the car, but it is also not needed. Buying a New Secondary Air Pump could cost up to $400-$500 depending on where you buy it. Its not Illegal to sell a car without one. Your state/county has emissions standard you may or may not need one to pass their test.

  • why not just fix it

  • Check VWVortex.com forums for used Secondary Air Pumps...

But that is not the reason you car feel slower.

Secondary Air Pump only comes on for about 30secs to 1min while the car first starts after that it turns off and isn't used again until restart.

Sounds like you might have other problems... start by Checking your Intake Regulator.. and go from there

  • @anticonarstick it heats everything up faster if you ever sell the car to someone who lives in emission area it will be illegal it does more good then bad

  • I have to get one of those, the Check light went on my dashboard and the car feels slower... i have a passat 2000 1.8 4 cylinder turbo...

where can i buy a good secondary air injection pump motor...

  • Yes the person who had the car before you could have removed it.

This is not necessary to have the vehicle run.

I removed mine and it works fine.

You only need it to pass emissions test if it is required by your state or county you live in.

  • I bought a 1996 VW jetta GL and after taking it into Pep Boys for a smog check, they informed me I did not have an air pump AT ALL. Is that possible?

  • Yes this is the same for the VR6

  • is this also on the vr6's???

  • Sorry Sold that one along time ago

  • are u willing to sell that spare secondary air pump? I have a 01 Jetta GLX VR6.

  • bfg8652... sorry for the late reply, but the pump only for on startup it does not work continualy run, but unless you need to pass emmisions test trash it not worth the Money to replace the expensive part.

VolkHead247... yeah i'm a Vortext member, I also need to post this video for other VW folks like myself

Evoluta... the only reason to even replace it on a Benz is to pass emissions.. other wise don't waste the $500 bucks for the new part that's really not needed

  • Do more for air pump cvideos how to cause i have a 97 mercedes e320 and I want to change it myself

  • great vedio. had the same problem, share this with vwvortex memebers too if your a member.

  • does the SAIPM works for a period of time ?

because i have a vw to and i got the check engine light and i got the code PO411 but i dont know if the pump its working

i think is not cause i disconnected both of the hoses and i didnt feel any air flowing.

    please i need help
