Have Mercy!!!! I love this. Dear, dear H-Bomb did this in his spectacular way. He passed several years ago & nothing on utube matches his live stuff. This is great! Thank you. I'm trying to find if you like chess. My best, Moppet
Most of what we hear from the early British groups like the Stones, Kinks even my beloved AC/DC to a point was very heavily influenced by American blues. Led Zaepplin 1 album was very blues oriented. I'm glad the Stones recognized them for the American blues' contribution all of them.
This woman amazes me every time I listen to her. She rocks! As to the Stones you must remember that most of the blues singers/musicians covered each others work. It is very hard to find out who actually came out with a song originally. If the song was good it was covered. I had one heck of a time finding out who did Back Door Man first Willie Dixon LOL!
I've heard of Sugar Pie and heard her tunes these videos are the first I've been able to actually see her tho. She's a bitty thing such a powerful voice. She's marvelous!
why doesnt someone gather a bunch of these FANTASTIC singers and musicians and do an old fashion road tour ? I would pay big money to see some of these greats in concert now.
@parisone53160: Exactly right and beside that, bands like the Stones thanked about everything to black American artists. Maybe their audience didn't understand or wasn't aware of that, at the time, but shame on them, anyway. It shows how commercial taste has little or nothing to do with musicality.
I saw her in 1965 at the London Palladium. She was one of the acts who opened for the Stones on August 2 and was booed off the stage - the audience wanted the Stones and had run out of patience. She was pissed!
@Raspitun The audience consisted of primarily teenage girls, my girlfriend included. They were there to see the Stones, period, and were tired of waiting.

Yeah, Jagger was a pale imitation of this (and I love me some Stones). Similar to Clapton upstaging Muddy Waters a bit later

That's funny...James Brown saw her and was so impressed he put her to work as his opening act for 2 years.
If that's true, they were dumb kid...period.
humbuck 1 year ago
They must have been really dumb this woman is great its very hard to find a female blues singer that can get down like this.
