Whoa, total BLAST from the PAST! I saw Ellen back at the Smiling Dog Saloon in Cleveland (sadly long since gone) back in the mid-70's and she was completely OFF THE MAP! Hearing "Jimmy Jean" again was a real pleasure, and it's great to see that she's still doing what she clearly does best.
@Troubleshooter125 Right huh. Seen her in Philly 1974. How sad is it she not given the recognition she surely deserves. Next to Johnny Winter her slide guitaring comes real, real. real close.
I had the privilege to see Ellen play live twice in my life, once from the front row. One of the finest guitarists & singers ever. When Jack Bruce wants to play with you, you're doing something good. Ellen can outplay Clapton or Thorogood with her eyes closed & one hand behind her back.
reminds me of Sylvia Torres...

I would really like to know the lyrics to it, the first verses before the scat...

@canthacan
Wintertime makes me wonder about Jimmy Jean
Did he ever get back home to New Orleans
Sitting on a rail, on a fence, on a back road
Listen to the mourning dove sing her song to the toad
Come on, sing it, babe!
(scat singing)
