Her acting in the role of Veda was an Academy Award performance - Joan deserved an Oscar of course, but Ann Blyth stole the show. Her lines are classic ones, and the way she delivered them made her performance so good. I can quote every line from the piano playing scene, the working-at-Wally's-place and the post-annulment-going-to-have-a-baby parts. Anyway, don't worry, mother. I'll get by.
Beautiful woman, sensational voice and obviously a very good friend to wonderful Donald O'Connor! Happy to recount that I was there that night, saw her entrance, watched the film and the interview, and then had the pleasure of meeting her in person! What a night!
Thank you so much for posting this interview with Ann Blyth. I'm a huge fan of hers and she was just as stunningly beautiful as she was while she was filming Mildred Pierce.
She looked even better when we were able to get her autograph in the lobby of the theatre! For a much clearer video of Ann, check out Mark Huestis's video footage of Ann arriving "Ann Blyth Arrives At Castro Theatre for Joan Crawford Gala"!
Her voice is just absolutely perfect---I could listen to her for days.

Ann Blyth got an Oscar nomination (best supporting actress) for "Mildred Pierce".

Thanks - I wasn't aware of that! I guess she had some tough competition that year.

a beautiful event and Ann Blyth was positively stunning..but the drag queens?..i don't get it.
even if Joan Crawford looked like one..she was however.."ALL WOMAN"

she was absolutely stunning in her youth and senstional in her late 70's...my God!,Ann how do you manage it?...i'm positively stunned.
i loved Ann Blyth in MILDRED PIERCE..she so nasty, yet she plays her role so well..and in THE GREAT CARUSO..so sweet and loving.
she was a very versatile actress and a beautiful one at that.
actually she still is beautiful.
