today I was riding my horse and I was running him and he fell =( with me on him =o! but he's such a good boy he got right back up! =) that good boy check out my videos on my channel! and you guys can see him!
my pony trows me off a lot and some times i hurt myself but only once i really hurt my self. i fell and then my horse fell down on top of me. i broke my shoulder and elbow. i was in hospital for 8 weeks. i was knocked out for half an hour and my bib sister thought i was dead. she is stupid but she was 16 and i was 10
omg poor horses !! 0:45 , 1:07 , 1:45 , 1:56 , 2:00 and 2:27 =[ poor little things ='[ if i ever saw that for real i would neva be able to ride again :S
I start crying! I just start thinking about when I falled with my pony and he falled over me that hard that I went to hospital with ambulance. Excuse my bad English grammar I'm from Sweden.
horse riding is fun ands itz hard i have a crazy 4 year old and i was jumping him tday over 4`0 and after the jump he bucked me off and i hurt my arm im only 12
y do people have to make horses do such bad stuff i mean steeple chasing is cruel it is band in nsw and i think that it should be band all over the country.if u look at some pictures their are horses their and it looks like they have broken thier neck or something. it is pretty sad bout all the horses out thier that have injured thier self in STUPID stuff. so yeah all those peoples out there who ride just keep to the safe stuff like i do it is more fun anywayz so yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you on somepoints, horse racing is dangourous to some horses, others just love to run and people think they would rather live there life full and quick then long and boring ona track. Im against some horse racing, When people beat there horses with a crop for money, yeah that pisses a lot of people off, Im fine with horse racing if they dont focus on money only, its not really forcing its more like do it or face the whip, I ride a pony Joker and Iv carried a whip on him once,
He moved with out me using it. Iv never had to hit horses with a ship unless I needed to, and yes it does crush people to see when a horse breaks a leg, falls, or just dies, but you cant livel life in a box, Big Ben charished his job, So yea I agree with you at some point on that =)
Man I hate it when a horse takes off and you almost roll off the back! I was riding double bareback today and we tried to go up a hill trotting and the horse leaned way back on his haunches and took off! Luckily I didn't fall!

Some of you are just so stupid ... don't generalize a whole genre of riding because of a few stupid people. Yeh, everyone definately has their falls, and i beleive allot of the top event/show horses just have general accidents where it is nore the rider or the horses fault. But there is no doubt that some riders are just plain and simply selfish. Some horses are pushed to far, and are competeing at too high a level. There's no harm in a rider saying "you know what, my horse isn't 100% capable of this, so i'm going to give it a miss." To me that's a true winner.

doesnt it COMPLETELY SUCK when u fall like these? i had quite a few bad accidents!(horse fliped-broken wrist n concussion, horse got a baad spot on the first of a triple-broken ankle, just lost my balance-broken/bruised rib?, foal stepped on my foot-broken toe, horse refused jump-moved growth plate(been numb for 6 months), horse took a sharp turn-we both fell n i got a sprained shoulder n maybe a fractured coller bone) hahaha
you´re right. my horse really saved my life. but it was outside. when a storm came we went to bring the horses into the stable and at the gate of the meadow a big branch fell down from a tree. my horse felt it befor it came down and pulled me away.
horseriding and exspecially jumping has a lot to do with TRUST. if a horse trusts in its rider and in itself it´s not that dangerous. but of course they are animals- there´s no guarantee for anything. remember also: horses escape in case of fear! that makes them "dangerous".
It's still dangerous with trust but not as dangerous if you don't like the horse. I would trust my horse with my life! Once in a lesson my trainer made a 3' somthing oxer and i didn't want to jump it. It was heck a high and wide. I just trusted my horse to make it over and it was like flying. Now tripping is accedents. No one ment for them to happen. I hope if you have a horse, build trust with it, it might save your life.
horses are strong animals, they obiously dont mind jumping, if they really didnt want to, you cant physicaly make them, especially ones strong enough to jump a fence as big as that.
they look worse than they are, horses are such strong animals,my horse absoloutly loves show jumping, but badminton and things like that are dangerous, but you would obviously know what you were doin before you aimed your horse at solid fence, accidents hapen
But I'm sure there are horses out there that do love to jump just like there are thrill seekers in people. But the majority of horses don't.
An I don't think it is an arguement to say horses love to jump because they do it an would otherwise buck the rider off. Horses want to please people, end of story.
Horses and people are tougher then we look. Most incidents when horses fall, the horse is almost always up before the rider. I think the case is when a racehorse or a steeplechaser has an accident, because falling at speed can be quite dangerous.
For all you people that said show jumping was cruel... im pretty sure that if the horse didnt want to jump he wouldn't. he would prolly buck the rider off. and also... motorcross competitions, people get hurt in that all the time but does that mean its cruel to the rider? nope, same as in just about every other sport. accidents happen, but it doesnt mean its cruel. there are a lot of car crashes, but does that mean its cruel to go driving down the highway? think about it.
Its amazing what we put horses through for our own pleasure, this video is quite sad, some of the pisture must have hurt the horses let alone the riders, why do we have to push to the limits at the expense of an animal???
This has happened to umpteen million times. Rolled on, stepped on, threw, bucked off, spun out from underneath, run over. But I lived with an insane horse who was exceptional when he wanted to be but insane the rest of the time. I miss him.
I have the laziest horse. But i dont do show jumping or xc i do barrel racing lol! But atm i`m breaking in the fattest laziest horse i have every seen haha and he always rolls and falls on top of me.
i agree about steeple chasing its a dangerous sport and alot of horses die doin it... but showjumping is not cruel... i do showjumping and i just couldnt compete a horse that didnt enjoy doing it... ull never get the best out of a horse by forcing it to do something, they hav to want to do it.
I know for a fact it's hard...I got thrown from horses, so many times...but I learn and became a better rider...just recently i was thrown off of my spanish mustang, because he spooked and i wasn't prepared...not fun..but other then that, i dont usually get thrown...
i know wat its like to be w/horses. it isnt easy to ride. in 6th grade i feel head first and was life flighted to the hospita. when u r with horses u are basically asking 4 a death wish. for those who ever fall off or get hurt around horses never give up. falling makes u a better rider in the long run.
Figure about 15 - 20% of the horse's body weight, no more. Subtract some if the pony's build is slender. So an absolute max of 140 lbs, but ideally closer to 105.
great video. ut it wasn´t nice to se all this falls when you self are a rider who want to get up to those grades. (I´m sorry about my english but I´m from Sweden)
follow on .............wudnt just tell you were to stick it n fuk u off! i no for a fact my horses LOVE to jump and do xc! i think perosonally and i cunt care wot you think! that if ur scared or xc or think its 'dangerous' ur just bee pussys tbh! :) its a just a sport for me its a way of life!
xc and all that may be dangerous but thats the risk we take .i say dont get on a horse if your not prepared to fall of!i actually dont get scared anymore! iv im guna die them i die! acleast its at sumthing i LOVE and put my whole heart into! and believe me if the horses didnt wont to that WUDNT you cant fight with a horse theres no point! if it dint wont to jump or do anything like that it
horseangel, you are thinking of steeplechase, and yes in both sports, horses can be abused, but don't generalize everybody. Eventing horses are only shown for a few years, and they are retired. Eventing is my sport and those horses are treated like rockstars and most of them are not abused. Before you go making accusations go to some of the events and shows you are dissing and reallu look at the horses, most of them love their job or they wouldnt do it.
thank you! after reading these comments on this vid, yes, jumping can be abusive, but, so can western riding! Just because show jumping pushes horses does not mean it's abusive. These horses were bred to jump and they love it!
i dont think jumping is cruel i think the cross country and the other one where they make them run soo fast and jumpp i forget whats its calledd but those are what i think is cruel not like show jumpingg!!! sorry bout the other comment!
yahh okayyy!!!! im probably wayy into horses more then you andd its cruell becuz and yah itss cruel im a horse loverr and i dont think your a horrse lover if you dont think this is cruel same with horse racing that just as cruel as this cuz they run soo fast and in here they run them and jumpp =/
so yah you can just shut upp!! cuz this is cruel to the horses=)
and yahh i really liked i wish they didnt do that stufff with them !!=(
ya... navicular halter horses are really annoying. as long as a horse enjoys what they're doing, it's alright. if they don't they're not meant for it and they usually don't do it. if they're forced to, isn't that the owners fault? no one discipline is worse than the other, and every horse, just like every owner, has it's own preferance and ability. it is a single owner that could make a problem or solve it, don't pin it on ANY generality.
jumping is better then the stupid halter horses that are so fat they get navicular. is that really so much better? or in western pleasure they let the horses drag around in the front end instead of making them use their ass.
They don't get navicular because they are fat, they get navicular because QH were, for a while bred to have little tiny feet and big steroidal bodies, their feet just cant t handle the weight.
you are right, western sucks!! they dont know how to ride, or anything. they just sit there and let the horses poke around the arena, and to tell you the truth, it looks like crap!!
thank you hunterjumper1987. some of the western riders are good, but in the western pleasure classes, most of the riders jst let the horses drag around on their front end, and get fat. this speeds up the navicular.
Western sucks, I have always hated it, and I always will. The horse I have now is totally amazing, and the started training him when he was a year and a half old for western pleasure, and he has navicular in all four. He has had the surgery, and is 100% sound. He placed third in congress a few years ago in western pleasure.
Jberban, people told me that I could kick butt riding western, but if I have to go back to riding that crap, I will quit riding. Read what I wrote to that idiot, aballofglass. He is an idiot.
hunterjumper1987, i can't find the comments. were they erased or something? but yeah, i'd never ride western. maybe to do barrel or reining.that actually requirex the horse to use their ass. but never western pleasure, coz the way i find it, if your horse isnt dragging around, then you'll lose, coz it's not what everybody else does.
Jberan, I really don't think you would like either of those. I have done and I think they both are boreing. Reining is just a "cowboy" verison of dressage, and why would anyone want to run around a bunch of garbage cans?
its not cruel FOR GOD SAKES SHUT UP IF YOU WERE REALLY INTO RIDIN LIKE ME AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE YOU WOUDL KNOW ITS NOT CRUEL AT ALL SO SHUT UP EVERYONE WHO DOSNT JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! do you know the people who own these horses they give tehre hroses a lot of credit. and how would you know its cruel cuase its not the horses are built for this they love it my horse LOVES TO JUMP!!!!!!! your stupid and you obviously dont ride you dont understand anything about jumping do you? no you dont try it sometime and you will see how horses are ment for this they love it asshole
actually i do ride i have riden my whole life. but i barrel race.. and you cant say that horses dont like that because my horse even when im not riding him he does it himself. and if horses are not built for that. they get trained for it.. so nice try and you may think im stupid. but i really dont care.
i've only ridden for a few years but honestly jumping isnt mean. my freind jumps and her horse jumps i the pasture just cause it wants to and i dont know of any mentally healthy horse that run barrels in their pastures they must be abuse so much that they xcan only run in a clover pattern so before you piont fingers make sure your hands are clean. i love barrels and jumping its just you guys need to realize the only torture to horses is wht the owner deals out.
i am sorry but i do not abuse my horse. you can say what ever you want but i would never abuse my horse.. my horse means everything to me and i have had him my whole life i am 19 and he is 25. but you can say what ever you want but never ever say i abuse my horse.. i has just been barrel racing so long that is just what he likes to do.
okay well i never said i dont like barrel racing welling i kinda dont cuase english and western are really different and umm horse get trained for jumping too so you cant say that barrel racing is different than jumping becuase my horse jumps even when im not riding him actully he jumpins the paddock fence witch is about 6 feet high!
Jumping and barrel racing are risky sports, a horse and rider can get hurt in both and can get hurt equaly as bad. I am not saying that horses are not abused in both, but not all the horses that do both are abused. Horses naturally jump and run in the wild, we just harness their potential and get the best out of them. I do agree that both types of horses can be crazy in both if that is all they do.
well, i know peple should know to not put their hands out, but i ride and so i have actually more experience that most would think falling off, and i still put my hand out and brok my arm. did you guys all hear about mia eriksson at galway downs nov. 20067, i think it was nov.
certain horses should only be ridden by certain people that will be able to ride the horse some gal i kno fell off a horse and broke her coller bone cause he cantered off then i got on he was great
Nice video if you are agesnt the hurt of horses. =) But besides all this..the abuse of horses is evil. People down the road from me killed there horse cuz it lost a race, evil huh?

horsejumpa101 4 years ago 2
horseriding and exspecially jumping has a lot to do with TRUST. if a horse trusts in its rider and in itself it´s not that dangerous. but of course they are animals- there´s no guarantee for anything. remember also: horses escape in case of fear! that makes them "dangerous".
Nordgirl 4 years ago 2
It's still dangerous with trust but not as dangerous if you don't like the horse. I would trust my horse with my life! Once in a lesson my trainer made a 3' somthing oxer and i didn't want to jump it. It was heck a high and wide. I just trusted my horse to make it over and it was like flying. Now tripping is accedents. No one ment for them to happen. I hope if you have a horse, build trust with it, it might save your life.

i heard about this 12 yearr old girl who died when she fell and got crushed under her pony/horse and iit iis a realy angerous sport but i luv it : )
Horseluvax 4 years ago
horses are strong animals, they obiously dont mind jumping, if they really didnt want to, you cant physicaly make them, especially ones strong enough to jump a fence as big as that.
sunnyboy1fan 4 years ago
they look worse than they are, horses are such strong animals,my horse absoloutly loves show jumping, but badminton and things like that are dangerous, but you would obviously know what you were doin before you aimed your horse at solid fence, accidents hapen

But I'm sure there are horses out there that do love to jump just like there are thrill seekers in people. But the majority of horses don't.
An I don't think it is an arguement to say horses love to jump because they do it an would otherwise buck the rider off. Horses want to please people, end of story.
dreamchaser86 4 years ago
Horses and people are tougher then we look. Most incidents when horses fall, the horse is almost always up before the rider. I think the case is when a racehorse or a steeplechaser has an accident, because falling at speed can be quite dangerous.
GoGadgetHookerClean 4 years ago
For all you people that said show jumping was cruel... im pretty sure that if the horse didnt want to jump he wouldn't. he would prolly buck the rider off. and also... motorcross competitions, people get hurt in that all the time but does that mean its cruel to the rider? nope, same as in just about every other sport. accidents happen, but it doesnt mean its cruel. there are a lot of car crashes, but does that mean its cruel to go driving down the highway? think about it.

Its amazing what we put horses through for our own pleasure, this video is quite sad, some of the pisture must have hurt the horses let alone the riders, why do we have to push to the limits at the expense of an animal???
garywakeuk1 4 years ago
This has happened to umpteen million times. Rolled on, stepped on, threw, bucked off, spun out from underneath, run over. But I lived with an insane horse who was exceptional when he wanted to be but insane the rest of the time. I miss him.

I have the laziest horse. But i dont do show jumping or xc i do barrel racing lol! But atm i`m breaking in the fattest laziest horse i have every seen haha and he always rolls and falls on top of me.
WhenIDieWillYouCry 4 years ago
the photo at 00.45, i had a horse do that with me showjumping at home... luckily we both came out uninjured.
elle0318 4 years ago
i agree about steeple chasing its a dangerous sport and alot of horses die doin it... but showjumping is not cruel... i do showjumping and i just couldnt compete a horse that didnt enjoy doing it... ull never get the best out of a horse by forcing it to do something, they hav to want to do it.
elle0318 4 years ago
not only horses die doing steeple chase, but alot of jockeys die or are seriously injured too.
Equistar9392 4 years ago
I know for a fact it's hard...I got thrown from horses, so many times...but I learn and became a better rider...just recently i was thrown off of my spanish mustang, because he spooked and i wasn't prepared...not fun..but other then that, i dont usually get thrown...
SimplePlanFan99 4 years ago
i know wat its like to be w/horses. it isnt easy to ride. in 6th grade i feel head first and was life flighted to the hospita. when u r with horses u are basically asking 4 a death wish. for those who ever fall off or get hurt around horses never give up. falling makes u a better rider in the long run.
ohanzie 4 years ago
this has nothing to do with the video but if i had a 13.2 pony and he/she was about 700lbs how much weight could he hold probally?
horselovah9 4 years ago
Figure about 15 - 20% of the horse's body weight, no more. Subtract some if the pony's build is slender. So an absolute max of 140 lbs, but ideally closer to 105.

ok thanks a bunch:)

x99jess99x 4 years ago
horseangel, you are thinking of steeplechase, and yes in both sports, horses can be abused, but don't generalize everybody. Eventing horses are only shown for a few years, and they are retired. Eventing is my sport and those horses are treated like rockstars and most of them are not abused. Before you go making accusations go to some of the events and shows you are dissing and reallu look at the horses, most of them love their job or they wouldnt do it.
AbbyRM07 4 years ago
thank you! after reading these comments on this vid, yes, jumping can be abusive, but, so can western riding! Just because show jumping pushes horses does not mean it's abusive. These horses were bred to jump and they love it!
SillyPillyWilly 4 years ago
sorry abbyrm07, i pushed the wron hand, i meant for it to be a good comment, cause it is true.

ya... navicular halter horses are really annoying. as long as a horse enjoys what they're doing, it's alright. if they don't they're not meant for it and they usually don't do it. if they're forced to, isn't that the owners fault? no one discipline is worse than the other, and every horse, just like every owner, has it's own preferance and ability. it is a single owner that could make a problem or solve it, don't pin it on ANY generality.
nosignificancexxx 4 years ago
jumping is better then the stupid halter horses that are so fat they get navicular. is that really so much better? or in western pleasure they let the horses drag around in the front end instead of making them use their ass.
Jberban 4 years ago 3
They don't get navicular because they are fat, they get navicular because QH were, for a while bred to have little tiny feet and big steroidal bodies, their feet just cant t handle the weight.
AbbyRM07 4 years ago
you are right, western sucks!! they dont know how to ride, or anything. they just sit there and let the horses poke around the arena, and to tell you the truth, it looks like crap!!
hunterjumper1987 4 years ago
thank you hunterjumper1987. some of the western riders are good, but in the western pleasure classes, most of the riders jst let the horses drag around on their front end, and get fat. this speeds up the navicular.
Jberban 4 years ago 3
Western sucks, I have always hated it, and I always will. The horse I have now is totally amazing, and the started training him when he was a year and a half old for western pleasure, and he has navicular in all four. He has had the surgery, and is 100% sound. He placed third in congress a few years ago in western pleasure.
hunterjumper1987 4 years ago
Jberban, people told me that I could kick butt riding western, but if I have to go back to riding that crap, I will quit riding. Read what I wrote to that idiot, aballofglass. He is an idiot.
hunterjumper1987 4 years ago
hunterjumper1987, i can't find the comments. were they erased or something? but yeah, i'd never ride western. maybe to do barrel or reining.that actually requirex the horse to use their ass. but never western pleasure, coz the way i find it, if your horse isnt dragging around, then you'll lose, coz it's not what everybody else does.
Jberban 4 years ago
Jberan, I really don't think you would like either of those. I have done and I think they both are boreing. Reining is just a "cowboy" verison of dressage, and why would anyone want to run around a bunch of garbage cans?
hunterjumper1987 4 years ago
oh, ok.
yeah i'm not sure either. i don't like how long the stirrups are in western too. i can't really support myself. it's very uncomfortable.
Jberban 4 years ago
thats crual and sad i dont like that its sad some of those horses look like they mite of broken there necks thats sad

its not cruel FOR GOD SAKES SHUT UP IF YOU WERE REALLY INTO RIDIN LIKE ME AND SOME OTHER PEOPLE YOU WOUDL KNOW ITS NOT CRUEL AT ALL SO SHUT UP EVERYONE WHO DOSNT JUMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HunterxJumperxoxo 4 years ago
i dont think that jumping is right.. that is very crule to the horses and half the time the horses dont get any credit for it.. its stupid and wrong.
ticklishlittledevil 4 years ago
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! do you know the people who own these horses they give tehre hroses a lot of credit. and how would you know its cruel cuase its not the horses are built for this they love it my horse LOVES TO JUMP!!!!!!! your stupid and you obviously dont ride you dont understand anything about jumping do you? no you dont try it sometime and you will see how horses are ment for this they love it asshole
HunterxJumperxoxo 4 years ago
actually i do ride i have riden my whole life. but i barrel race.. and you cant say that horses dont like that because my horse even when im not riding him he does it himself. and if horses are not built for that. they get trained for it.. so nice try and you may think im stupid. but i really dont care.
ticklishlittledevil 4 years ago
i've only ridden for a few years but honestly jumping isnt mean. my freind jumps and her horse jumps i the pasture just cause it wants to and i dont know of any mentally healthy horse that run barrels in their pastures they must be abuse so much that they xcan only run in a clover pattern so before you piont fingers make sure your hands are clean. i love barrels and jumping its just you guys need to realize the only torture to horses is wht the owner deals out.
cooperscowgirl13 4 years ago
i agree with you!!
HunterxJumperxoxo 4 years ago
i am sorry but i do not abuse my horse. you can say what ever you want but i would never abuse my horse.. my horse means everything to me and i have had him my whole life i am 19 and he is 25. but you can say what ever you want but never ever say i abuse my horse.. i has just been barrel racing so long that is just what he likes to do.
ticklishlittledevil 4 years ago
okay well i never said i dont like barrel racing welling i kinda dont cuase english and western are really different and umm horse get trained for jumping too so you cant say that barrel racing is different than jumping becuase my horse jumps even when im not riding him actully he jumpins the paddock fence witch is about 6 feet high!
HunterxJumperxoxo 4 years ago
Jumping and barrel racing are risky sports, a horse and rider can get hurt in both and can get hurt equaly as bad. I am not saying that horses are not abused in both, but not all the horses that do both are abused. Horses naturally jump and run in the wild, we just harness their potential and get the best out of them. I do agree that both types of horses can be crazy in both if that is all they do.
