i saw them live about 3 years ago... the drummer is dead. for a time, simeon had a drummer fill in...... but now, he just plays solo with a drum machine- which, i guess, just shows how ahead of their time they were in the 60s.
An epic of the beyond. The dynamic shift in the high register bass sneaks up and pummels a hard industial groove on a giant space hopper. The vocals comfort tortured oscillators with blunt pins.
The otherside of the album shows the picture that ended the bands career. BOEING (i think) upset at being depicted in aircrash carnage claimed damages that ruined the band. It's rumoured the drummer had his drums taken by bailiffs during a gig!
Here is a thing of similar texture performed on an instrument invented in 1928- if you use this search term on Youtube- Ondes Martenot /virtuosistic Formule by Thomas Bloch-TV 1999 - No drums- but you see the technology existed to make such music- There would've been earlier devices with similar capabilities- for example- the Theramin-
Sometime when I listen to SilverApples I think "why bother trying to make electro music in 2010 when these guys were in the 1960s and sound better than 70% of the modern electro acts....."
Such a crazy sound! Only further proof that Analog is superior.
@Jukeboxheroswsprod sucked compared to floyd? stfu. everyone compares stuff with floyd and doors. just means you know fuck all about your own type of music. silver apples and CAN were and still are miles ahead of there time floyd were just a mainstream pshych band. and without sid it was pointless. go watch mtv or something
@malkiebroon because that's an intelligent response. oh wait, it wasn't. by the way, i hope you mean SYD as in Syd Barrett, the original lead singer to pink floyd... go learn something.
@Jukeboxheroswsprod lol two attempts just to say that? wow got his name wrong. go learn learn how not to be a cunt. wtf has silver apples got to with poptastic floyd?
@malkiebroon I don't understand what you're trying to do here. so far all i gather is that you want to show everyone on a website how much of an idiot you are. it's working, but i'm bored.
Check out the schematic of The Simeon. No Synths at all. Just an array of HP audio ocillators, Wha Wha , Echoplex, and 2 Maestro tone controls, shortwave radio and switches ( telegraph keys)
67-69 only a few synths were available and most of these were in university labs
@Foymaster His name is simeone he calls his synth the simeone your right it was a non keybourd synthesizer with telegraph keys and oscillator dials screwed to a board like lionel trains craig anderton of the mandrake memorial had one he had made out of a stenograph machine this is before keybourd sythesizers then they were keyboard synthesizers but they werent polyphonic walter carlos made polyphonic recordings with multitrack recording swithched on bach the biggest selling classical record
@maclennan73 im not 100% sure its true it could have been that herbie mann was the opening act and silver apples was across the street drunk people walk in and out of jazz bars and get confused buddy rich was the opening act for ten years after at the fillmore east and had to play a beatle song cause they crowd kept yelling alvin
The main loop through out this song is not unlike something that Hank Shocklee of The Bomb Squad would have produced for Public Enemy! Silver Apples were definitely pushing that experimental envelope ahead of their time. Great stuff!

It's the perfect clash of what was to come and what was happening.
The vocals are totally 60/70's and the instrumentation is 90's +
So in love with this insanity.
