Ace Combat 4, 5 and "The Belkan War" are the defining games of the whole series. What we have got so far on current gen consoles pales in comparison in my opinion. These games were far more fun to play, and the story lines had more depth. The graphics in these games for the time were very impressive throughout.

@Gr4yWo1f Honestly i'd say go for ace combat zero, assault horizon isn't bad but it doesn't feel like an ace combat to me, it's a great game just not an ace combat, and the strangereal world is just much more interesting, aside from that i think you can find ace combat zero for pretty cheap prices as it's a pretty old game, and maybe try both of them.

Ace combat don't pretend to be a flight simulator (even if AC:AH seems to)but an ARCADE PLANE GAME. This means you still have the conditions of real dogfight,but in an arcade way,so tons of enemies,super weapons and LOTS OF ACTION. This is ace combat,and AC4 and AC0 demostrated it at the maximum of their potential. Nuff 'said

Over G Fighter is crap.It's a copy or rather made by same team that made Energy Airforce.Flying plane is just sheer frustration.Everything is so marginalized:missiles,bombs,fu­el,what to say about landing.Ace Combat does all that and more and that's why there's gonna always be a demand for it.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog I love Ace Combat don't get me wrong. When I saw the trailer for Assault Horizon I came. But at times it can be rally fake. Over G Fighters was a low budget game, which had a lot of potential. Sometimes I just want to play a 'realistic' flight sim. The landing is a lot better than ace Combat. And you taxi from the apron. Its a different game completely.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Course I have completed all of the campaign and have about 50% of the DLC. I feel it is boring because I have done everything. I don't enjoy the campaign Honestly I would get a ps2 because I completely loved Ace Combat 4 & 5. If I had know about Ace Combat Zero I would have brought it. Over G fighters is completely based on realism and personally I don't play it for dogfights. Me and my friends Fly formations, and it is a weird thing but I really enjoy taxiing.

In which way did you complete the campaign?If you do all the tasks without use of squadron help game's much more fun and longer and by the way I never cared much for storyline in AC.They are all more or less shallow and mello-dramatic (Ace Combat 5) for example.Zero's great part.I liked 4-th the most I think but Zero's so well done that it could easily pass for next-gen consoles of today.I was good in OGF and EA but I just hated firing few missiles and back to base and so on.

There are things I dislike in Assault Horizon or rather the way it was played in that first mission by a looser who never held controller in his life.I also went into playing OGF and EF in search for more real simulation,like Lock On for example but got frustrated by things that could have been simplified for benefit of a player who doesn't want a pilot's license.I actually don't have anything against either of those games but I had to leave it due to those limitations I spoke of.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Lock On isn't complicated, it's simply more complex. Ace Combat is more arcade. It's basically an "air shooter". But don't get me wrong, I love Ace Combat, probably more than half of the guys that comment here.

Anyway, Lock On is a realistic air combat simulator, things are supposed to be complicated. If you want to try a more arcade-styled simulator, try Wings Over Israel/Europe/Vietnam. It's more simplified for those who just want to blown the bad guys off the skies.

I can land pretty much every single fighter and the majority of all propeller driven aircraft in an aircraft carrier in Flight Simulator X, making use of all its avionics.

Yet, you're telling me that I can't pass a semi-realistic game in whatever difficulty you can come up with? I mean, come on!

Wow,you can land a plane.Yes I bet, if you already classified AC as "bagging bad guys at will" game that you wouldn't last because that ain't that kind of a game.There's simplified take off and landing procedure but in flight you will sweat believe me or not.If I tell you that on only hard difficulty one bullet from AA system will take you 15% of energy than imagine what they can do to you on Ace level.I mean C'Mon.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Is that so? Try passing trough an AA barrage with an F-15C, while outmaneuvering Su-27 Flankers. A single bullet in your wing will comprimise your aircraft's stability, if it doesn't rip it apart. And this is a normal day. In Ace difficulty, the enemies are not tagged and you are not allowed to use 3rd Person View. If you don't keep your eyes open, oh boy, they can and will eat you alive.

You were the one that started comparing and apparently took the "shoot the bad guys off the skies" sentence as an offense, God knows how. I don't have AC4 because it didn't seem atractive to me, Zero because I can't find it anywhere (I'm about to order it from eBay) and 6 because I don't own an XBox. Thats why.

And when you download software for your PC, you generally don't have to weld something in the motherboard or stick cards in the disck tray. Go on, start your PS and shoot down 100 planes in 20 minutes. I'll stick with REAL flightt simulators. Good luck maverick.
