I work in the movie industry so I meet them everyday.
I often wonder why people put them in higher regard than the real thing (actors acting the part of real doctors, lawyers, heros, etc....well, the successful ones at least).
They are just people.
Some normal, some not.
They are insecure, arrogant, caring, irresponsible, confident, neurotic, introverted, extroverted, genius, smart, stupid, clueless, just like.....us.
ha ha...a rat's ass..that's why I like u Alkistis...I wonder how you'd be as a celebrity? U could hide behind your sunglasses if you had too....Sometimes it's good to get some gossip if your life gets to mundane...Or just make some stuff up for kicks...like the tabloids do with stories like President Obama fathered an alien baby with a woman from Mars on a full moon..or that Jesus was spotted at Walmart at midnight 3 weeks ago...
VERY TRUE! I know many celeb's that are totally miserable. However, there are some happy one's as well. As for tabloids, I don't even own a TV. I have a full life, and I work with celebrities as well. They're only people that got a lucky break, peroid! Some I do admire because they are true hearted humanitarians. It's like any profession, you've got your good and bad ones out there. They are only humans that the media sells in gold wrapping paper! I agree though, think pink out there, cheers!
I agree, but some women at work do bring in the gossip papers. I do find myself picking them up 100% of the time. I am sure this is a timeless past time, however these types of media seem to be much more invasive to the celebs than in times of the past. Often there seems to be very little respect for the celebs and no topic off limits.
Many people, mainly woman I would say love gossip, aren't the soap operas really vehicles for gossip? it's escapism for people who have little control over their own lives due to lack of money, education, talent or even drive. It's an easy option, a few pounds for a magazine or watch TV verses years of struggle to try and get somewhere in life which may or may not yield results.
What magazines are on YOUR coffee table? hahaha :D
Hey there!!!!! You are so so so right. I make a lot of videos at red carpet things etc and we are all the same. Some of them are nice-some are shy etc etc. They are just doing what they are good at-they are no better than a doctor who saves lives or a builder. One could not do the other's job. Very true. LOVE the quote-by the way-you ARE awesome xxx
Absolutely... look at the latest singing sensation- Susan Bolyle overweight 47.. out of date look yet her voice was like an Angel.. and it goes to show you you can't judge a Book by it's Cover.. We are ALl Important!!!
Good points you are making here... sometimes I find myself looking into gossipy websites, magazines etc. When my husband catches me looking or talking about celebrity gossip he says, 'stop, it's stealing your soul.' LOL!
I am in this situation right now. I no longer read tabloid magazines, and look to youtube instead to get my voyeuristic fix. And yes, it is only *slightly* less sad.
Hey Duke, let's you and I go find a life. Or maybe just catch a beer...
There is nothing i want more than a beer right now but i have just quit smoking and cannot drink because as soon as i do i know i will be smoking again. God, life can be dull sometimes.
You nailed it right on the head as far as my sister-in-law is concerned. She has no life of her own. She makes everybody else's lives her business. How to do you keep somebody like this at bay? She desperately needs a hobby other than gossip and meddling.
Most often we base our sense of reality on notariety or success. Unhappily there is a version of conceptual degeneration that goes along with success. Financial success means you're addicted to the success. Most times we become addicted to something pertaining to being able to act out in an acceptable way or a way that we won't get punished for. Sometimes the laws we use to decide stuff seem cruel or insane like "hierarchy" rules. To be or not to be.. psycho. Most people go for psycho.

Yes Susan Bolyle is a good example that we should not judge a book by its cover.

You are so right, I went throught a period of loving celibrity gossip sites, now i am addicted to youtube which is slightly less sad.
It is possible to be interested without idolising but all thing in moderation.
