It was hard for me before my surgery because people asked why are you having this done. All I could reply is I don't like being fat. I have more answers now that the surgery is done and you are right there is no hunger... THANKS FOR POSTING!!!
Thank you for these! I am trying to decide between gastric or lapband or not at all. My first meeting is this week, my best friend had gastric this week w/complications and it has made me question all of this. But I keep reading as many good books, online or blogs to try to figure all of this out. Just wish more bloggers would show..actually show..their skin..the sagging? Do all of you patients have it? Would love to hear from as many as would write. God Bless!(pshow bad was it at 1st)?
My mom questions my surgery a lot because I am a binge eater. I have tried to exaplain to her these things, but can't say it right. Yet another one of your videos go to my favorites so I can watch it about a million times while I am waiting and after my possible sugery.
I <3 your vids and truly think you are a wonderful person
You're a wonderful person for being so open and honest and sharing your journey with others. To the people who say "why didn't you just go workout instead of having surgery"...those people obviously don't know what it's like to be addicted to something. And it's not like cigarettes or alcohol where you can more easily quit - it's food, you need to eat it to live. Try telling an alcoholic they have to quit but can have "just a little" each day to survive....ain't gonna happen. Kudos Amelia!
Me again, I wanted to tell you that your confidence and beauty just shoot out of you like a shining star. I am so happy for you, to finally be free. When I see you week to week,I think "I want what she's got" I want to be free. You are an awsome role model for anyone, let alone anyone who's thought about or has had the GBS. You go girl! Let your light shine!
Ok, wow, that was perfect. I have a question for you. When you were researching and choosing to go through with the surgery, were all of the people in your life supportive at first and if they weren't how did you turn them around and if they were supportive, why were they. ALL of my people are NOT! I feel alone in this. My husband is really bad about it, I mean, TOTAL JERK! How do I get them to climb aboard. My sister told me to do the portion control and stuff for six months,HELLO? 250LBS!!!
Hey Amelia, I love your vids, they are an inspiration to me as I am trying to lose weight too. I can totally understand reasons why surgery change you and your habits, and I am so glad you are willing to answer serious questions.
I was just watching one of your old vids about how you had "skinny fantasies"... now that you're skinny, whats it like? lol.
It is better than I even dreamed, really. I went to the arthritis doctor, first time since before my surgery, my last appt was to tell him I was having the surgery and he saw me today and was shocked! So fun.
When people haven't been there before, they are clueless. I remember being much younger and skinny and thinking, "What is wrong with fat people? Just don't eat!" It's why I'm afraid to tell anyone I am getting band surgery next week. Only a handful of people know, and even to them it's awkward. I don't have enough fat (or formerly fat) friends. I wish food as an addiction was more widely discussed, as is nicotine or alcohol addiction. No difference, except you can't stop eating entirely...
I am so glad you posted this video. I am going to forward it to the people in my life. The hunger... it's maddening. If I can just make the hunger go away... I feel like it will be like finding peace. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to send it to my family and close friends to try to help explain why I am so fixated on trying to afford this surgery.
my sister had her surgery today. she came out of surgery at 2:30pm and i saw her at 3:00pm. we've watched all of your videos to try and prepare or try and get an understanding of this whole thing. well, when she came to, i asked if she was in a lot of pain and she could only barely move her head to say yes. seeing her like that is just heartbreaking. how long were you in pain for? it pains me to see her in such great pain, but i know this will all be worth it in the end!
I was in paina few days, uncomfortable for a few weeks and out of my mind with Joy today when I was 175 pounds and could wear a size 10 pair of jeans! Be strong and support your sis, she will be fine, better than fine. Congrats! Hug her for me
hey there, whoever called you a worthless "f".. let me know who it is so I can stick my foot up there ass and kick it to hell and back. btw your an inspiration to me too.. i don't eat fast food anymore.
Thanks Amelia!! This is really helpful for pre-op as I find myself battling the same thing at times. What will change with surgery? and why can't I do it on my own? There are many that have failed with the surgery..so that was scary as well. But in going through the pre-op stuff it's clear how it's a "tool" and you must pay attention, change your lifestyle and use it properly to be successful. You've done a great job with all of that!! I always feel proud of you :o).
As usual, thank you for a very helpful and insightful video. In response to some of the comments you have received from your other suscribers, I would say that it is dangerous to assume that others are "haters", are "insincere", and are "dissing" Amelia. In my humble opinion, it was a genuine question from someone really investigating the surgery before having it. I think these types of questions should be encouraged.
I think they are talking about the people who say that I am a disgusting "f" and I should have stopped eating at mcdonalds and sitting around my house. Sincere questions are never a problem for me. People with a genuine interest in the surgery don't insult me.
I have seen all your vlogs and I look forward to them. Your response to this "unknown" person is awesome. Im having the surgery Thursday and watching you makes me see that this is allll soooo worth it....thank u, thank u! U look great!!!
There are always people that will be jealous or hate. It's sad this person that dissed on you has the need to be anonymous. You have done a WONDERFUL job losing your weight and sticking to your goals. Through reading some of the other comments, you are not just an inspiration to me, but many others. Keep doing what you are doing and let the haters keep hating what they don't understand!! :D
Girl, you are beautiful!! I am so glad you own it! I think that alot of people still don't get the power food/hunger has on many of us and how this surgery works to help with that. I am one of those who do have hunger after surgery, but I can eat the right things and be satisfied which before...I don't think I knew what satisfied meant! Thanks for this video!
WOnderful Video!! TRUE words. People who send ugly messages are so STUPID!! They Just don't understand how it is!!! IT HAD to be someone Insencere!! Much Love Amelia! :)
I had my surgery 10 weeks ago. And I totally agree. The first 3 weeks I had the head hunger but since then Very very rarely do I get hungry. I have to REMEMBER to eat. I even have to force it from time to time cause I know I "HAVE" to eat. Thank you and I can't believe YOU of all people get bad comments. UNREAL! I even mentioned you in my Vlog today I just love how upbeat and postive you are. Thank you soo much ~ Nicol
You are absolutely right! I had LB surgery a little over a month ago and have lost 30 lbs, and only recently began exercising...There's no doubt about it, take hunger out of the equation and the weight will be easier to lose.
I still got hungry right from the start. The difference is that a couple ounces of protein stuffs me. No more big plates of food and simple carbs. The hunger you do feel is OK, you just have to eat the right things to take the hunger away. pre-op, a couple of oz of protein would take away the hunger for about a minute. now I can comfortably live on small amounts of food. THATS the difference of surgery.
Great video....I am so happy for you that you feel pretty that is my goal beyond health I just wanna feel pretty and like I belong where ever it is that I happen to be. I love the shirt my daughter has it in yellow and it is a dog taking a test. =)
BTW, you now how Moxie liked to get herself into every video...well the baby walked into camera range twice. Guess she really is following in her sisters footsteps!
