You say that thanks to some guy named John you know how to recover your data if it fails. I'm from Australia and my drive just failed and i've lost everything, my computer just won't read the drive anymore, but the power still works. It does make some clicking noises now. Can you tell me how to get the data off it or how to get in contact with John for some support?
Worked fine for me and neither of my 2 have failed but if they do, then I know how to access the drive and get the data off of it FREE! Thanks, John, San Antonio
Fine drive ... but know how to get your data off of it by taking it apart ... this is a great video on how to do it ... others say you do not have to remove the base but separate the shell ... John San Antonio
Nice ... do not know if you have to take the bottom off but a nice video on how to do it. My 3 screws were of such poor quality that only 2 would go back in ... Ha! John San Antonio
DO NOT BUY SEAGATE HARDDRIVES! My 500GB just broke, after 3 months of use, it started humming very loudly, made a huge CLUNK and stopped. seagate WILL NOT Recover your data as part of warranty, and want you to pay 1400 (yes, ONE THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED) dollars to recover data that was lost because of their product. Do not buy, you WILL be sorry... (customer service is horrible)
These drives get too hot without any fan. The fanless idea is great, but hard drives just get too hot without a fan!!! I have a small fan blowing on this external drive at all times.
can any one tell me how to fix this error i got from the hard-drive: it says "the disk in driver is e is not yet formatted. do you want to format it now? yes or no" i know format means deleting everything but i dont want to delete everything so can some one help me?
lay on the carpet and have it next to you, then say... you knock it over and let it topple over.... not drop just fall over... and see if it still works...
Well the drive received an error. When you plug it into a PC it shuts down the PC.
The drive technicly works, but is impossible to use. lol It was covered under the VERY limited Seagate warranty. But I still have to pay nearly 30$ to ship it to Seagate. They don't repair the drive, nor do the recover the data (for free). The simply send you another drive, once they recieve your drive.
The drive they send you could be a used, repaired, or refurbished drive.
oh nice, i believe, (from what i was told) you need to disconnect the hardware safely. (you know the annoying fucker on the menu bar that pops up when you plug er in). still not going to buy it. however i'll by a new keyboard, cpu, and motherboard. ;]
Just wait a couple more months... This hard-drive with fail in connectivity, thus losing all access to all of your data. I pray this does not happen to you, but it seems to be a very common issue with it's faulty enclosure.
what the fuck we watching

that's pretty lame. =\ good thing i didn't buy one. i was going to get a 1TB one haha...

lol i meant to get the pro, i would have been slightly more happy with that.
For some reason, with the plastic casing, i just knew something would go wrong with this drive.
Lol and it completly freaked me out that almost 4 days after DEUCEcast had wrote that comment bellow, my drive crashed. Super freaky.
