  • Any one who cant appreciate this for the great Drumming that it is,well obviously your not a Drummer!

  • does anone know what snare he's using cause it'S one of the best sounding snares i ever heard... and yes i know that a lot of it tuning and the heads he uses and the mics etc etc. but i still wanna know what snare he's using

  • @c0d3x001

It´s a Black Panther 14x6, Maple Shell, Black Satin, made in 2005.

  • @drehmomentTV thanks man

  • @c0d3x001

    No Problem, you´re welcome.

  • UN-FRIGGIN-REAL. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. Homeboy is my new HERO.

  • GB...Always musical, restrained and tasteful.

  • this is a good drumming that drummers should appreciate...all of us can will learn on this video, the muscle and flexibility control, the groove, the fundamentals, the style... all at once.. drumming is not about banging and hitting things and rampaging your double peds..its all about releasing your emotion to make your drumkit sings... themost important thing is whatever sound that you are producing own it cause it come from your best.. listen to his crafts and you will see that he a genius

  • @aeroplus

And off course - his touch is what we should all strive to achieve.

If like.......death Metal drummers had this touch. Metal would be so much better to listen to

  • Awesome. Like this guy.

If you want to see a drummer innovating, stretching the possibilities of his craft, then check out JoJo Mayer...

    Brian in RI

  • It never fails. As soon as he finds his groove, his facial expression is that of someone who was just kicked in the nuts. When you see THAT face, listen real good, cause something is definitely happening!!

  • To get to this level you have to put the time in, so people who complain about what he plays, obviously are self-centered.... There's great drumming in all styles of music and

i appreciate it all, at this level you must appreciate the man and the time he put in to be able to do this. Play on Greg, we love ya !!

  • Greg has played on some of the most complex recordings out there. Check his work and you will see a true mastermind.

  • PS Not meaning to disrespect those rock drummers......they have their niche and are skilled too. Not the end all for drumming though.

  • I can understand people dissing this........some people can't recognize greatness, He's flamming his feet ( for those who are criticizing, thats " flamming" not " flaming").

Y'all just crank your Travis Barker and Joey Jordinson, or whoever that guy is, and

    don't worry about the rest.

  • Gregg is amazing. I love this guy!

  • At 2:45 simply bad a**.

I love the Mapex Saturns...he makes them sing.

  • @JoeJacari It's a Pro M kit. And it seems it still has the original Remo UT heads. :-)

  • He's like a jazz-metal drummer!

  • @drummernezzy jazz-metal that should totally be the word of the year or something... love it... and yes that's totally what he does

  • @c0d3x001 Hey thanks! I was hoping someone would appreciate that.

  • I have followed this guy playing drums since the late 70's. He has continually progressed/changed/grown over the years. some say he is not so good... others say he is fantastic. I dare you naysayers to go back, and start from the beginning, and do what this guy has done. He is extremely versitile, and to be a working drummer... you have to be! Way to go GB!

  • Most dynamic drummer i've ever seen, bravo Gregg :)

  • Every percussionist has his own flavor of style and chops based on his influences. Gregg is an extremely versatile player because he has chosen to be. I have met him on several occasions that date all the way back to his days at N. Texas St. to recent clinics and his story and approach are still the same.....practice feverishly and still as many riffs from your heros as you can, tweak them and make them your own! He is also a non-egotistical approachable person. EVERYONE can learn from him!

  • Tasty n versatile drum n Gregg....

  • He Sux!!!

  • @TheOrford ..Gregg sucks and Chad Smith rocks?Chad is a good funky/rock drummer and has made a name for himself by his style & RHCP...Gregg has made a name for himself for his versitility, feel and his desire to play w/musicians of all different styles.........To say he sucks is so juvenile its funny............If I thought like you i could say that if you compare Gregg/Chad as far as technique, skill and ability.....it kinda makes Chad a one trick pony.

  • @TheOrford Bro, he's so good he can do a drumsolo and play whatever sort of weird fucked up rhythms/licks he wants to. He is creating ideas and exploring the instrument. He doesn't care if it's better than another drummers solo, or if you think he sucks! He has been in the elite of the industry for decades and is a motherfuckin master! He can play grooves that would make you cum on your own FACE. His take on the songo and 2nd line style grooves are amazing. fuck you

  • damn he's good!

  • Happy Drummer

  • FABULOSO !!!

  • what are those things at around 2:00 .... they are not regular quads are they ?

  • @sweetfly66 .........It is R hand, L foot, L hand, R foot.............I have tried it and seems to be a big challenge.

  • @sweetfly66

No, they aren't. It's based on an idea by Vinnie Colaiuta. He's playing right hand, left foot, left hand, right foot, repeat. He explains that like in his DVD "Musical Drumming in Different Styles".

  • @chopman83 Actually the technique was invented by Buddy Rich. Also advanced by Terry Bozzio and Tony Williams.

  • Seamless excellence.

  • You're watching one of the most origonal drummers of all time. A true maestro. All the whacky analysers in the world cannot change that fact

  • You're watching one of the most origonal drummers of all time. A true maestro. All the whacky analysers in the world cannot change that fact

  • lol love his facial expressions.......sweet beats

  • dude that bass drum sounds so lame.

  • One of my favorite drummers!...very smooth style....nice solo!

  • He's a rock drummer with a jazz soul. Look like rocker sound like a jazzer who rocks!

  • siempre un buen solo de batería es espectacular y reanimante!!!!

  • Dude when does this solo start taking off?

  • Speak no Evil, Heard that!!

  • veeeery smooth. this guy is so seldom mentioned amongst the 'great drummers' status

  • o yeaah he does awesome things, like this kind of drummin

  • gotta check out tony royster doing doubles between bass and toms!

  • Cool...................next time I want to see Tony Royster, I will go to Gregg Bissonette's video so you can suggest I look else where.

Did you really come to this video to say that?????

    Find another hobby!!

  • no I did not but other people use youtube to learn styles and i try to help people out because royster uses a similar technique to a different style. im sure i have much more percussion experience to you so F OFF internet tuff guy

  • Wow, an internet tough guy? Guess I don't know my own Internet strength......IMO you could have at least mentioned something about the video at hand........even if you did't like it. I bet it's not the only video you put this on either. You have more experience then me?Your a young 20.........I started playing in 1987....do the math. You may be Amazing......but thats not the subject. I was going to watch Simon Phillips and Steve Smith....there someone else I should watch instead internet guru??

  • ok.

  • cool!

  • You guys should make friends :-)

I agree with you about Simon and Steve though Mikey, the truth is that there are so many wonderful players out there and the internet has just exposed them all the more.

    Gregg's Mapex's sound GREAT!

P.S. Do you like Tony Beard?

  • There are guys here that are amazing that nobody's heard of....yet!!......I was just saying I know who Tony Royster is and like him.........he's amazing.........but I also know where to look him up if i want to.....................Not familiar w/Tony Beard.....who is he???

  • @mikeybbdrummin too funny!!!

  • fucking hell

  • my teacher has got his drumset

  • john palance?

  • no °-°

  • Wow!!! Great Gregg! Brilliant drumming! Great sound and acting!

  • O Kara e Muito Bom!

  • Just because my cat, Ears, smokes this dude on drums doesn't mean that Gregg isn't a good drummer.

I'd be remiss if I failed to note Gregg's virtuosity. It's just that Ears is miles ahead of the competition and displays a cat prowess unseen since the days of Billy Gladstone and the Fantasmagoria Orchestral Movements in the dark.

Besides, my octogenarian neighbor, Spike, said that this drum solo reminded him of the sound of his broken tractor out on his Mississippi farm in Idaho.

    Real.

  • My cat, Ears, makes pancakes and flapjacks and stuff.

He told me that he could play better drums than this.

I said, "Ears, you're old school. You're one bad a**.

Ears grabbed the stix and smoked this dude. It was incredible.

I started treating Ears with respect. Ears told me this type of drumming is known as Twinkie Pie drumming and is common in Argentina and Peruvian mountain communities.

I gave Ears a big hug for liberating me from nonsense and bringing me light.

    Real.

  • I will say your stories are quite funny. I was on the phone w/a buddy and we were in tears as I read it to him. It took about 5 minutes to get through it...............so good job w/trying to be funny.

But why so much dislike for Gregg that you have commented on three different videos of his???And none of it good?..........................I honestly don't think on Ears' best day that he could take Gregg.................It's talk.................I think it 's a front the Puss he really is.

  • great great drumming!

  • grew up listening to Gregg he was, and still is a massive influence. i think in the early 90s there was a huge insurgence of incredibly technical drummers, "original ninga drummers". Gregg is one of the reasons we see players like Thomas Lang today.

  • so true :)

  • no me gusta es. Me encanta los 6 minutos de solo!

  • Every drummer has got something you can learn from, doesn't matter who they are, where they come from,or what band they are in etc. Only an individuals opinion says who best, who's not.....it's not within the bounds of reality to say there is a single "best drmmer", or guitarist or anything else really.

  • Well said Rokket.

I'm not too sure where this louder, faster ethos comes from at all.. IT AINT WEIGHT LIFTING IT'S ART!

These guys should GROW THE F£$% UP!

  • That snare sounds amazing

  • 2:11 hahaha nice!

  • Love the vocals!!!

  • that rh rf lh lf 32nd note pattern is tough as hell to play clean, but he did it pretty well.

  • I know he's got a great technic. However, i don't like his style

  • I have a video where he explains reading sheet music for drumming and man it really helps.

  • Great stuff Gregg! It's Materazzi from MOtt high..

  • this guy is critiquing Bissonette's solo? Ok, when you've done as many records, tours, sound tracks, etc. then get back to us...most likely a weekend warrior

  • Jealousy is an ugly emotion...

  • Gregg got his resume because of how he plays, what he plays and the person he is. Not because of what OTHERS do. A break doesn't stick unless your capable. Gregg does what he does well. Your right ,he is a top studio guy because of his religion and not his skills behind the kit.

If you ever get a chance to meet him you should let him know how average he is then offer him some lessons. Why has he played on over 100 Cd's? Because of a break in 1985? Guess again! Where's your video?I can't wait

  • are u just going around 2 videos of his solos and talking about how bad he is? ive already seen u comment on a few others

  • Great looking kit,& great sounding.

  • Don't fall too much into patterns. That's lazy. Everyone has perfected displaced-thirty second notes. It's just boring if not placed musically, if just repeated. Same goes for latin rythms. Don't just play riffs. Make a song!

  • WHAT?

  • Actually, thank you for calling me on that. I listened to it again, and I was wrong. Sorry about that. Thanks again!:) -Kirk

  • Hip hip, MAPEX!

  • amazing?

    THE BIGGEST GREGG BISSONETTE FAN

  • amazing drummer has to be one of my tops.
