  • to Durty >> it's even 1000 times more rare to see an American speaking french haha! and I know a lot of them :) of course french people speak english, most of them just don't want to.. I'm french and all my friends speak english....

  • Both Algeria and Vietnam were French colonies. Certainly, (I hope at least), you Americans folks might know a little bit about Vietnam.

  • Vincent - French MAN who talks english freaking well, now thats a RARE thin,i was in Paris, fucking NOONE talks english there :p this sucked

  • Very very good question indeed!

As OliverEByrne said, La Guerre d'Algerie is an important part of our history and it was a great idea to talk about it (for people who don't know) since it's part of the movie!

Thanks to this 2nd part, it was a great video!

"Jean de Florette" and "Manon des sources" : fantastic movies!!

  • Merci mille fois, mademoiselle! I was wondering if it was too political. But I did think it was an important part of recent French history that we in the US don't hear about. And this film too of course.

  • Thanks for the second part Stephen! That was a VERY good question to ask about Algerie.I often had to explain that to my American freinds myself.A lot of my freinds in France have Algerian blood,.The Algerian war is a very important part of our history.

And R.I.P Claude Berry who passed away in January , "Jean de Florette" and "Manon of the spring" are two of my favourite films,he was a great Director and producers and he will be missed. Great interview and keep up the good work!

  • D'accord! "Jean de Florette" et "Manon of the Spring" are among the great ones of French cinema! And certainly Depardieu's performance as the tragic hunchback is one of his greatest! I wondered if I went too far off the beaten track with the Algeria questions, but I thought it was important to explain the backdrop of this film. And believe me, no other TV journo is going to ask about Algeria. The book that I mention on Godard "Everything Is Cinema" is great, too!
