mental illness is one of the worst ideas any human has ever had.
not everybody knows that mental HEALTH is the pain & frustration. "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society".
Jiddu Krishnamurti
in other words, if you think you have mental HEALTH, take a look around - we still exist in a very sick world and to be HEALTHY in a sick world... is NOT easy or fun, and it can a horrible experience.
@mindnumber9 That's an insight I hadn't considered before. I hope you can appreciate, though, just how hellish it is to suffer severe, chronic emotional pain, lose one's ability to function in society, and essentially live a non-life of Medicare doctors and barely-skilled caregivers who all have the same message: "You can't get better, but you can manage your pain to the degree that it's tolerable." Given a choice, I would choose to be healthy.
@MellowCricket i've known some level of suffering, since i was a small child. i've been "care-free" for about 3 years now - much better for it. by care-free, i mean - No doctors, No counselors / therapists, No more diagnosis, No support groups, No programs, NO PILLS. getting rid of the lifestyle of sickness & everlasting treatment WAS a cure, in & of itself. my 20 year "career" as a "mentally sick person" taught me a lot. i processed & recognized that in part, my own HEALTH was a burden.
